PoliticsRe: Buhari Not Attending ChannelsTV Debate by IVORY2009(m): 2:42pm On Feb 02, 2015
franciskaine:
but Sincerely friend, what do you think GEJ would tell you in a debate different from what he has been telling us ever since? A presidential debate holds waters in a country whr a majority of the citizenry are educated, not in a country whr pervasive illiteracy is the general order. Surely we know GEJ can speak far better than Buhari, but good leadership goes far beyond dat. It encompasses so many attributes of which eloquent speaking is a part of it. That aside, GEJ has promised us heaven on earth but still fails to achieve the basics of his campaign promises. We were all hoodwinked by his "if I can make it you can make it mantra" , but I must confess that Nigeria's problems goes far beyond mere paper and mouth propaganda, we need real action. I became disinterested in GEJ right from that very day he refused to declare his national asset. You can't say you are fighting corruption when you still do things that encourage it. What prevents GEJ from building a refinery for 6yrs if he truly means well for u and me? For me, Buhari is more honest and deserves my vote.
Don't forget the popular saying, "a Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" why am I quoting this statement, it means that Nigerians are becoming responsible/up and doing, they want to know/ have an impact on who rules them, governor them etc, that is the beauty of democracy for you, the electorate are meant to hold leaders accountable for not performing when they are voted into office, we are go to get there gradually, gradually...

I would want to agree with you that leadership goes beyond speaking english, but action is required, but the level Nigeria is presently, if you ask me, neither General Buhari or Goodluck Jonathan can't fix the country, but as it stands wat do we do, it is unfortunate that they are the two front runners @ the moment, and we have to make a decision on any of them, to rule us for the next 4 years.

Building refinery is not a days jobs it actually takes years to do dat, but be that as it may be, the present government fails in that aspect, similarly, Gen. Buhari has been der before, he could not build any too, so both candidates are in same level.

There are strong speculations that the questions have been leaked and this may give gej a clue of how to defend himself thereby making the whole devate a fasade.

We are ok with his interaxtive session wth the organised private sectoe and ofcourse his session wth channels tv
There are seculations that the questions have been given to GEJ before time, this is untrue, do you have prove to these effect, or just subspecting, this is not good for democracy, did you watch the US debate, the republican and democrat, you see how ideas are exchanged by both political parties, that is how it should be, not one party saying the other is been favoured. It is like preparing for an examation, and you learnt that the paper has leaked, will you now say that other students will do better than you, base on the fact that they hv seen the question ahead of the examination? And becos of that you are no longer writing, if you have read, and have confidence in urself; I can do it; you will most likely, come out in flying colours too.

and you think those who support him do so based on mere debate? What else interests you in GEJ? Ain't you tired of his promises? I bet you, if GEJ is re-elected power(electricity) will still remain in this shoddy state by 2019.
Actually, the way democracy is practiced in other developed countries, U.S, Great Britain, a debate tells the eletorate ahead of time what a particular candidate is going to be offering, wen he/she is voted into office, and he/she is held accountable, if he fails to deliver, but you and I known that since 1999, the issue of debate has not been taking seriously, even the current president is not left out, you asked of what else intrest me in GEJ, that is the reasons he is going to be telling us today in the debate, then we can now choose, whether to vote hin back into office or not, for now, we are patiently awaiting the debate, to know what our incoming president has to offer, is it General Mohammedu Buhari, Goodluck Johathan, Oluremi Sonaiya, Ambrose Albert, Ganiyu Galadima, Rafiu Salau, Godson Okoye etc

Buhari has made the greatest mistake, by boycotting this debate organised by Channels television, I see him loosing lots of his supporters, as for me and my group, we have decided to turn the ship around, and wait for the outcome of the debate, we want to know how our incoming president we solve the eletricity problem, insecurity etc, Perhaps PDP we will all vote, i.e. If he can tell us how he choose to tackle those issues. Well yeah, you're right there. But let's also remember it was 1961 so technology hadn't gotten so far. And besides education was new in Nigeria then so you can't expect students of back then to grasp it the technicality behind it so easily, that's why maths wasn't given paramount importance.
dats true!

Guy what you should understand is that failing maths doesn't mean you dont know it and you can't apply it. After all dont white students also fail English in their own exams? Does that mean they can't speak it? The maths they'll teach them in the military in terms of bearing and all that is practical therefore easier to understand, compared to calculating on paper. Using a sniper to calculate the distance of the enemy is easier than solving it on paper. Hope you get my point
I would agree with you to some extent, but not totally, let us be pratical oriented abit, have you seen some of the latest video games and computer games, that has to do with wars, shooting, aiming @ the enemy, sometimes playing those games alone, one has to calculate using mathematical teminology, like the distance frm where one is to the other end before shooting @ sight, length n breath of a peremiter, now on a real senerio, assuming a Nigerian army is sent to some of these highly technological advance countries, like Us, Russia, Great B, Isreal, Japan, South Korea etc for a UN peace keeping, with out the knowledge of Geography, Mathematics, he can not understand even the teaching, I would agree, it will take longer time for him/her to understand, my brother, mathematics is highly recommended.

Yes white people fail english in their exams, but they can speak it, becos it is their mother tongue, but mathematics is a different ball game, the Chikobi's of the world will testify to this.

military policy in 1961 is different from policy in 2015 .
The question is, if mathematics is compulsory for military recuitment, and there is nothing like military in the 60's and now, how do you as a military man calculate in terms of aiming @ your enemy, even ploting a graph to see how far or near your ememy territory is, involves a high level of mathematics, in otherwords mathematics is highly needed to do dat, geographical calculation nkor? Mathematics is needed.
