The Tinubu presidency emphasised that the President had already set a clear tone for decisive action and accountability during his meeting with the new service chiefs on Thursday. The Nigerian presidency has stated that President Bola Tinubu is “well ahead of the orchestrated game unfolding in America." The Tinubu presidency emphasised that the President had already set a clear tone for decisive action and accountability during his meeting with the new service chiefs on Thursday. The presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, made the remark via his official X handle, noting that Tinubu’s earlier remarks to the service chiefs captured his readiness and awareness of both internal and external challenges. "President Bola Tinubu was well ahead of the orchestrated game unfolding in America as he told the new service chiefs on Thursday what Nigerians expect of them. No more excuses, he said," Onanuga wrote. "In his address to the military leaders, President Tinubu outlined his expectations and Nigeria’s urgent security priorities: “Security threats are constantly evolving, constantly mutating. Of grave concern to our administration is the recent emergence of new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South. We must not allow these new threats to fester. We must be decisive and proactive. Let us smash the new snakes right in the head." "I charge you, as the heads of our nation’s armed forces, to carry out your duties with patriotic zeal. Nigerians expect results, not excuses." "I charge you also to be innovative, pre-emptive, and courageous. Let's stay ahead of those who seek to threaten our peace. Let us deploy technology where necessary. We cannot allow the crisis that began in 2009 to persist any longer." "I wish you success as you take up the challenge. I promise to provide all the support you need to get the job done.” Onanuga’s statement comes amid heightened political attention on international narratives about Nigeria’s security and governance, asserting that the President remains firmly focused and strategically ahead of unfolding global developments. President Donald Trump had threatened to deploy military into Nigeria, if the country's leadership failed to stop what he described as "genocide against Christians". According to Trump, the United States military may come “gun-blazing” into the country. "If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities." “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians,” he said. SaharaReporters earlier reported that on Friday, President Trump said that in response to claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, he had redesignated the country as a “country of particular concern.” He announced the decision on his Truth Social media platform. “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” Trump posted on Truth Social. "Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it,” he posted. Trump further noted that he had directed Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., and members of the House Appropriations Committee to investigate the situation and report their findings to him. “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries,” Trump said. “We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!” Reacting, however, the Nigerian government— through the country’s President, Bola Tinubu — denied that there is religious intolerance in Nigeria. In a statement issued on Saturday, the President emphasised that Nigeria’s constitution enshrines the protection of religious rights and that his administration continues to ensure equality for all faiths across the country. “Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty,” Tinubu said. He noted that since assuming office in 2023, his administration has maintained active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders while working to tackle security challenges that affect citizens regardless of their religious affiliation. https://saharareporters.com/2025/11/02/tinubu-well-ahead-orchestrated-games-unfolding-america-nigerian-presidency-replies-trump |

Politics › 3 Killed As Bandits Launch Fresh Attacks On Kano Border Communities by iwaeda(op): 8:42am On Nov 02, 2025 |
Fresh attacks by unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits in border communities of Shanono and Tsanyanwa Local Government Areas of Kano State have left no fewer than three persons reportedly killed.
A credible source in Tsanyanwa who spoke on condition of anonymity said the bandits in their numbers were from neighbouring Katsina State and had stormed Yanganau village in Tsanyanwa LGA of Kano State to launch an attack but were resisted by security agencies.
The source said that after a failed attempt in Tsanyanwa, the bandits launched an attack on Shanono where they killed three people.
According to the source, “The bandits came from Kogari in Musawa/Matazu LGA in Katsina State. The security was notified on time since around 5:30pm. As God will have it, they fled after several gunshots into the air by the security agencies. They fled the community without killing or kidnapping anybody. They didn’t also rustle any livestock.
“They fled Yanganau village and fled to Yar Tsamiya in Faruruwa ward under Shanono LGA where they launched their attack and killed three persons. They also went away with three persons. It was in the middle of the night, around 1:30 am,” the source said.
Corroborating the source, a resident of Kuraku village under Faruruwa community in Shanono LGA, Prof. Muhammed Dauda, said the bandits attacked places like Unguwar Tsamiya, Yaudari and Yanganau, killing some people while some were kidnapped including females.
He said the attacks continued despite the presence of security personnel deployed to the area after it raised alarm over incessant attacks by the bandits on the area.
“Issues of this banditry is escalating beyond comprehension in Goron Dutse, Makama, Tsaure areas beside Faruruwa.
“Of course, the Federal Government has taken action and sent troops but it’s still not helping matters; it’s like we are inviting them the more. We thought the presence of soldiers, civil defence and other paramilitary and JTF would solve the issue but it’s still there, it’s like we are challenging them. As I am talking to you, in the last three days we have suffered attacks in places like Unguwar Tsamiya, Yaudari and Yan Ganau. People have been killed and some were taken including females.
“All our people are now sleeping somewhere else for fear of attack, they have abandoned their houses. We that are in the urban centre cannot go home.
“We are hereby still urging the president and the new leadership of the military command to look critically into the issues again and secure these border communities with Katsina.
“Gwarzo, Tsanyawa are in serious danger because of their proximity to Katsina. Kano State Governor should also take this matter seriously. He must ensure that his borders are blocked and secure. If urgent action is not taken they will eventually penetrate Kano,” Prof. Dauda maintained. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/11/3-killed-as-bandits-launch-fresh-attacks-on-kano-border-communities/amp/

Politics › PDP Factions Emerge, Anyanwu Group Suspends Damagum, Others by iwaeda(op): 5:53pm On Nov 01, 2025 |
The Peoples Democratic Party has plunged deeper into crisis as fresh divisions emerged within its leadership, with a faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announcing the suspension of the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and five other members of the National Working Committee.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja on Saturday on behalf of the factional NWC, the PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, announced the party’s National Vice Chairman (North Central), Mohammed Abdulrahman, as the Acting National Chairman.
He stated, “Unfortunately, some people may say that the National Secretary, National Organising Secretary who has the responsibility of monitoring everything and the National Legal Adviser, who is responsible for all legal issues, were purportedly suspended.
“On this note, we decided to suspend the National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Ilya Damagum, for incompetence, financial misconduct, and disregard for court judgment. He has been suspended for one month and should face the Disciplinary Committee.
“Secondly, we also suspended the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, for issuing statements without the party’s approval, and the Deputy National Vice Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, has also been suspended. Woyenguikoro, who has been involved in alleged financial misconduct, has also been suspended.
“The National Youth Leader, Sulaiman Kadade, and the Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshoedo, have also been suspended for 30 days. All of them will be sent to the Disciplinary Committee to show cause why they should not be expelled.
“Therefore, we are announcing the National Vice Chairman (North Central) to serve as the Acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman.”
Earlier, the NWC under Damagum’s leadership announced the suspension of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), and two other members. https://punchng.com/breaking-pdp-factions-emerge-anyanwu-group-suspends-damagum-others/

Politics › Bandits Attack Southern Kaduna Community, Kill Five Residents, Others Injured by iwaeda(op): 8:32am On Nov 01, 2025 |
Terrorists locally dubbed as bandits have attacked a southern community in Kaduna State resulting in the killing of several locals.
A source confirmed the attacks to SaharaReporters, stating several other locals survived with grave injuries and are in critical condition.
The coordinated attacks occurred in Damakasuwa, in the Kauru Local Government Area.
"As of now, five locals have been killed and we have recovered their corpses including minors," a source said.
The bandits cycled the community shooting sporadically before hacking to death those found on sight.
SaharaReporters had on Friday reported that terrorists kidnapped several traders on Friday morning in the Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.
A source in Birnin Gwari, the local government headquarters, had confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters.
According to the source, the traders were travelling in a golf car to the weekly Layin Danauta market in Birnin Gwari when the attack occurred.
The exact number of victims remains unconfirmed, as such vehicles are often overloaded beyond their official capacity.
"The bandits intercepted the car at Kwanan Danwandara in Tabani Ward, Birnin Gwari, and abducted all the occupants, including the driver," the source stated.
"In the same vicinity, they also kidnapped two individuals on a motorcycle, taking all the captives into the forest."
The incident took place around 8am.
The traders in the vehicle were reportedly coming from the Dandume area of Katsina State, while the two individuals on the motorcycle are from Kuyello Ward in Birnin Gwari local government.
Bandits in Kaduna State continue to strike with seeming impunity, as another attack occurred on Wednesday night in the state.
SaharaReporters had learnt that in the incident, gunmen abducted nine locals in the Kajuru Local Government Area.
A source from Kasuwan Magani confirmed the tragic incident in a message to SaharaReporters.
According to the source, the bandits attacked Rafin Roro village, shooting sporadically.
The traditional ruler of the village, Mallam Adamu Auta, escaped, but nine members of his immediate and extended family were kidnapped.
The source added that the bandits had been consistently kidnapping residents and rustling cattle, incidents that have largely gone unreported.
SaharaReporters on Wednesday reported that bandits struck in Bukkah community in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, resulting in the abduction of at least seven individuals.
A local government staff member had confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Wednesday evening, noting that the bandits attacked Bukkah village earlier in the day, kidnapping at least seven villagers.
The source reported that the assault began with intense gunfire, jolting the entire village awake.
Many residents fled into the surrounding forest for safety upon realising they were under attack.
According to the source, the difficult terrain and the fear of a potential ambush prevented security forces from mounting a swift response.
Those kidnapped from the Bukkah village have been identified as Mohammed Rufai, Sagiru Musa, Bala Usman, Aisha’atu Usman, Bilkisu Isiya, Sa’adiya Usman, and Wasila Usman.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that some bandits invaded Nissi community in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, kidnapping an Anglican priest and his wife.
A member of the Anglican Church of Nigeria confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, expressing frustration that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning and other media organisations had not reported the attack.
According to the source, the bandits abducted the priest, identified as Edwin Achi, and his wife, Sarah Achi, from their residence in Nissi village, located in the Chikun LGA.
SaharaReporters has been reporting the rising insecurity in the state in recent times. https://saharareporters.com/2025/11/01/breaking-terrorists-attack-southern-kaduna-community-kill-five-residents-others-injured
