Breaking: Police Arrest Three Suspected Masterminds Behind Brutal Killing of Kano Housewife, Six Children

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected masterminds behind the gruesome murder of a housewife and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano, following an intelligence-led operation.

The arrests were carried out under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, by a team of crack operatives who tracked and apprehended the suspects in a sting operation that lasted from 10:00pm on Friday, January 17, to 4:00am on Saturday, January 18, 2026.

Police identified the suspects as Umar Auwalu, 23, of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters; Isyaku Yakubu, also known as “Chebe,” 40, of Sagagi Quarters; and Yakubu Abdulaziz, popularly called “Wawo,” 21, of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters, all in Kano metropolis.

According to the police, Umar Auwalu, described as the leader of the syndicate and a nephew of the deceased housewife, confessed to orchestrating the heinous crime. He further admitted that the same gang had been responsible for a series of violent attacks in recent times, including the killing and burning of two housewives in Tudun Yola Quarters, Kano.

Items recovered from the suspects include four blood-stained clothes, two mobile phones belonging to the deceased, a cutlass, a club (locally known as gora), and a sum of money allegedly robbed from the crime scene, alongside other dangerous weapons. Police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to unravel the full extent of the syndicate’s activities and possible accomplices.

The Kano State Police Command commended the professionalism and bravery of the officers involved in the operation, while also appreciating members of the public for their prayers, support, encouragement, and cooperation throughout the investigation.

The Command reassured residents of Kano State of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property and to ensuring that all perpetrators of criminal acts are brought to justice.

The development was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command.

The reports from Freedom Radio of a devastating tragedy which occurred in Dorayi Chiranci, Kano, where unknown assailants stormed the residence of a woman, killed her and her 5 children in a brutal attack, and even threw her infant into a well is not just heartbreaking but evil.

This is more than a mere criminal act, it reflects a disturbing moral breakdown. What kind of heartlessness and abandonment of conscience could drive anyone, let alone Muslim, to carry out such a heinous crime against their own fellow Muslims?

This incident is a painful illustration of how deeply humanity can sink when reverence for Allah and compassion for human life are lost.
How would you defend a place for such savagery in Islam?

No religious justification for it, and no acceptable excuse in any civilised society. It is a horrifying and disgraceful act that should deeply trouble every upright person. Justice must be served and all those responsible must to fished out and made to suffer the most painful deaths .

Just like I always say, we should fight against any murderers and evils because humanity first before religion. We must show our disgust against such people no matter the religious affiliation. An entire generation wiped out just like that for no reason.
