I think it’s best to go on the day you were rescheduled for. So as they have told you to come on Friday, print out that email and take it to the embassy with you. That will allow you in. They won’t change it on avits but the email is enough proof that your interview is on Friday.

Mine was suppose to be tomorrow , they sent a mail that it have been re scheduled on Friday.

But on the portal is not showing same

I got the email a month after.
I just scheduled the regular consular appointment. There was no option for 221g follow ups

When you log in, on your dashboard there should be an option for new appointment. Then you click that. Then it should take you to a new page where you’d answer some questions like your full name, DOB, what visa type you’re applying for, I can’t remember the other prompts. Then you’d get to the part where you’re required to put in your receipt number from your first bank mrv payment. This takes about 24-48 hours to drop. Then after that time you can now choose an appointment date.

I was able to book an appointment however the embassy eventually emailed me themselves to come in at a certain date and time. So I’m sure that might be the case for you. As for the duplicate user issue, I didn’t really have that so I don’t know how to help with that, I’m so sorry.
But I believe the embassy will reach out to you in the coming weeks. Cause that’s what happened to me

Hi Jenifer, I also got the same thing. Were you able to book the follow up appointment? Because I am unable to that. The avits website won’t let me book a new appointment. It keeps saying duplicate. And how soon did you get a new date.

My experience at the London embassy.

VO: How long have you been in the UK (that was the first question guys)
Me: 1 year and 2 months
VO: What do you do?
Me: I work at XYZ
VO: How did you come to the UK
Me: I came on a skilled worker visa from my home country
She was typing a lot. Didn’t even look up to see my face
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: For vacation
VO: Have you traveled anywhere since you came to the UK?
Me: Yes. I’ve been to France and Spain.
She asked me where specifically in both countries (at this point she was now looking at my face but I guess she had made up her mind)
I answered Paris and Barcelona. I went further to say Disneyland and she said I should show her pictures of me and some of the characters in Disneyland which I didn’t have.
To end the interview this woman asked me when I came to the UK again.
This time I gave her the actual date I arrived.
Madam went on another typing spree and after about a minute or so denied me quoting American laws and 214b about me not having enough ties
I thanked her and left.
Honestly I’m not angry at all.

You’re allowed to reschedule but you only have 3 chances to do so. That’s what the “3 reschedules” are for.
You won’t be charged for it.

Since your passport was returned and you were instructed to come with your passport and an instruction included, you can schedule an appointment on the AVITS / Visa appointment website as also instructed. If in doubt or you are not able to do that successfully, you can try to chat or call the AVITS onsite agent to make inquiries.
Yes, the location where you had your previous visa could be the reason as they may not have your biometrics as suspected but in any case be prepared for an interview. You were refused ,not denied so you have a shot at getting your visa renewed. Is this a B1/B2 renewal?

I was refused and mine said “please schedule a follow up appointment under the 221g category which applies to your visa category and application type (regular or interview waiver) at the visa appointment website. Bring this form and your passport to be processed expeditiously.”

There’s also nothing in my mailbox. I’ve been checking everyday since I was refused. I did schedule an appointment for November though. I’m an adult. But the previous visa I did wasn’t in Nigeria so could that be the reason?

Well, from experience, my niece was refused her IW and was asked to come for her biometrics. She was given a period to come in and that was all she did when she went to the embassy with her mum,
Note- she just clocked 14 so if that's not your case, you need to post what was actually written on the paper you found in your passport. so we can have clarity and assist appropriately. Also check your mailbox to be sure you didn't receive a mail inviting you to come in.

I’m so sorry for your experience. I know you will still be given the visa when you apply again. I just wanted to ask, I’m not sure if you’d know. But we’re there people going for only biometrics appointment and not having to do interview after? I ask because I had been refused visa IW but was given a white paper to come in for fingerprints only so I’m not sure if I’d need to book another appointment for interview too.

If anyone on here can answer this as well it’ll be greatly appreciated.

If you go in with a new DS160 for update please get in mind they don’t update in there. This is a big effect on many who booked on the old website and can’t update the DS160.

VO: you said the cruiship will be from Brooklyn right.
Me: yes it’s an MSC cruiship

VO: are you married and do you have a child or children
Me: yes I’m legally married and have a son

VO: have you traveled out of Nigeria before
Me: yes I have been to Dubia in year 2018 for two weeks conference and also been to Ghana in year 2019 for a submit

Me: I’m an estate developer and I have been doing this for the past 5 years with a two branches owned by me with 20 staffs working under me.

VO: typed for some time. Sorry you are not qualified for a tourist visa at this moment kindly try again some other time. Blue paper was passed to me with my passport.


While on the queue for biometric only one elderly woman was given white paper the rest are refusals and their interview was a little fast than mine. Even a lady at window 3 was denied F1 visa

It is usually strange to ask adults to come in for finger print. They do it for teenagers. It is a pretty straightforward process if it is just for finger print. You line up and they just take your prints, no questions asked. Since you are an adult, just be prepared for anything. Keep your information straight.

You just have to keep trying. I know that’s not what you’d like to hear right now but it’s the truth.

Even when you call them they’ll tell you the same thing. They claim there’s a glitch/technical difficulty on their end that they’re trying to fix.
So I’ll suggest maybe waking up early like around 1am -4am. Those times somehow the dates are bookable.

You just have to work around it at this point.

They want to be certain you're actually in the country and they probably have a few questions.

1. In that case, the USA embassy want to refresh your information on their database, and use the opportunity to ask you few questions (ie about overstay, DS-160 change of info, etc). Other experienced Nairalanders might throw more light. I am out of this trailer.

Thank you so much for your response. I did drop box and when I got my passport back from OIS that’s when I saw the letter telling me to come in for fingerprinting. So I really didn’t know what that meant and what the outcomes will be.

* Your question is incomplete (until i read the 221g slip), but i will generalise based on past experiences.

1. Digital fingerprint (especially at the embassies, port of entries , and borders ) rarely garbled b/cos, your fingerprint is being uploaded into the USA national database. Although, the consular who took your 1st- fingerprint (or did the consular forgot to ten-print you ?) might have made a mistake or the fingerprint - reader might have malfunctioned, but that happened around 5 out of 100 applicants.

2. Ipso facto, asking you in 221g to come for re-fingerprint is a distraction strategy. The USA embassy actually want to do some other background checks on your VISA application.

3. Nobody, can authoritatively predicts the (VISA) outcome of your 221g temporary refusal, b/cos, 221g reasons are innumerous ie, Identity confusion , verification of documents , etc, but the positive part is that, you have been able to put the USA embassy info confusion, and after verification, your VISA should be granted.

PS: In 221g IDENTITY verification . If a VISA applicant looks like or bear same name with a wanted criminal, and after verification, the VISA applicant is cleared, then, the USA embassy will still decide your VISA outcome based on if you satisfy the requirements or not Therefore, some 221g outcome might still resulted to permanent refusal, in which you are free to re-apply.

I was given the 221g refusal letter and it asked me to come in for fingerprint. Does that mean I will get the visa?

So is it that those aren’t fake dates? I’m not quite sure what you mean? Or does it mean the dates are already taken but the system glitch is making them appear

Hi all. Please has anyone been successful in booking dates? I was hearing the dates are fake but when I called they told me it’s not fake that it’s a glitch. Please I have a very important program to go for this October and I’m seriously running out of options.
