2 killed, many injured in Kogi communal clash
January 11, 2019

The Police Command in Kogi on Thursday said two persons were killed and many injured in a renewed hostility between Egbira and Bassa-Kwomu tribes in the state.

Spokesman of the command, Mr Williams Aya, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who made this known in Lokoja, however, said that the situation was under control. Aya confirmed that the clash was between the returning Egbira people who were exiled from their ancestral homes and the Bassa-Kwomu tribe, which had been at loggerheads for months.

He said that the command had drafted a team of mobile and conventional policemen led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) and Area Commanders, supported by the Army to the area. Trouble was said to have started when, following the intervention of elders from the area, the Egbira people who left their homes in the wake of the crises were asked to return by the State Government. The move, according to sources, was to pave way for and foster amicable and lasting peace among the two ethnic groups. The Egbiras were said to have been accompanied by security operatives and political appointees, including Bassa Local Government Area Administrator, Mr Samuel Alumka, to Oguma, the headquarters of the council. They were expected to go back to their various villages and communities from Oguma. It was alleged that an uncomplimentary remark from the paramount ruler of Bassa-Kwomu ethnic group, the Aguma of Bassa, Chief William Keke, sparked the crisis. He was said to have asked the returning Egbiras to go back to Lokoja or where they had taken refuge. In the process, the sources said that fight ensued between the tribes, leaving a trail of casualties as some other persons were said to have lost their lives in the fracas. (NAN)

According to Benjamin, all candidates desirous of registering for the the examination therefore must ensure that he or she start of by sending their full names, (surname first) to the code provided by the board. In doing this, candidates must ensure that no other person had used that telephone number for that purpose. “No two persons must use a single GSM number in commencing the registration process as it will not be acceptable. “The way it is configured is one individual to one telephone number that will remain exclusive to that single individual for the purpose of the entire examination process. “Not even siblings are allowed to share a particular telephone number for this purpose. “For instance, if candidate A used a telephone number to send his name to the code in the past, candidate B, who is a sibling to A cannot use that number for that purpose again. “But candidate A, who probably might not have been able to pass the examination, can still use that particular line again to send his name to that code whenever the need arises,’’ he explained. In the case of a missing telephone line, Benjamin suggested that it would be safe to get a fresh telephone number for the purpose and not a ‘welcome back’ to send to the code for the candidate’s profile number. “No two persons can share a telephone number for the purpose of confidentiality. “As a rule, it has always been one person to a telephone number to get a profile number that will enable candidates do the proper registration and capturing,’’ he said.(NAN)
CrimePastor Promises 16-yr-old N50,000 : Impregnates Her by Jabi17(op): 7:47pm On Jan 10, 2019
A 16-year-old girl has explained how one Josiah Akinsuyi tricked her with N50,000, put her in family way and abandoned her.

Josiah Akinsuyi is said to be a pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, in Akure, the Ondo State capital. The pastor reportedly enticed the victim with the money, which made her dump her former boyfriend, Sunday Babatunde. But the money was not given to her by the pastor, who kept promising to do so, while sleeping with her. Vanguard learned that the pastor, on one occasion, slept with the victim in one of the classrooms of a private school owned by his wife. Parading the suspect alongside five other suspected criminals, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Pedro Awili, said the teenager was discovered to be four months pregnant after a pregnancy test was conducted on her. Awili said the minor’s father lodged a complaint at the command and after investigation, the suspect was arrested and questioned. The commandant pointed out that the victim and her family live close to the pastor’s church at Abusoro in Ijoka area in Akure metropolis. According to him, “the suspect took the girl from one Sunday Babatunde, who had been sleeping with the girl before now. “Our investigation revealed that the pastor has had carnal knowledge of the girl three good times and we have carried out pregnancy test, which proved that the girl was four months pregnant. “Investigation also revealed that the elder sister of the girl has something with the pastor, because the first time he wanted to sleep with the victim, she refused until she informed her sister who told to cooperate with the pastor. The commandant said: “One of the times the pastor slept with her was in the classroom of one private school owned by his wife. Though the pastor denied having any intercourse with the girl, I do not expect him to confirm the allegation. “The girl confessed to us that the pastor earlier promised to give her N50,000, but he failed to do so. Maybe because he did not redeem his promise and not attending to her again that made the girl to confess to her father all the pastor did to her. “The girl has confessed that the pastor impregnated her and refused to give her the N50,000 he promised her.”

‘I wake up around 12, figure out something I’m going to eat immediately [then it’s] TV, video games, bed. It’s not a lot of activity.’
He continued: ‘I just sit there naked as free as can be and no-one bothers me — door’s shut, we’re good.
‘I’m just safe and video games are where I escape.

I’m accepted in all those virtual reality worlds and the gaming world that I am in. No-one sees me.
‘That is my outside world, where I can be the Casey I want to be, but not be judged on my weight.
‘I never would have thought at 34 I’d be living with my father, I’d have no job, have no real money and would just be playing video games all day and eating.’
Casey was always a ‘big’ child growing up but his weight first began to explode in his teens, when he worked in restaurants and frequently ate out as a result.
He then found that his size made it too difficult for him to work and decided to quit his job – causing his mother to kick him out the house

The only place left to go was then his dad’s home, where he then began to eat anything he wanted, including ‘sushi by the barrel’.

‘Basically, his one thing that did make me happy was food,’ said Casey, who now weighs over 700 pounds.
‘So we just ate like kings. But, like in the worst way. Pizzas, chicken, Japanese food, takeout.’

Shots were heard in the around state television headquarters in the centre of the capital at about the same time as the message was read at 6:30 am (0530 GMT).
Military vehicles blocked access to the boulevard where the offices are located, an AFP correspondent said.
The message was read on state radio by a person who identified himself as the deputy commander of the Republican Guard and head of a group called the Patriotic Youth Movement of the Gabonese Defence and Security Forces.
Three soldiers wearing the green beret of the Republican Guard were visible on a video of the speech circulating on social media and authenticated by AFP.
The movement “calls on all young people from forces for the defence and security and Gabonese young people to join us,” the officer said, announcing that a “national restoration council” would be formed.
“We cannot abandon our homeland,” he said.
“The eagerly awaited day has arrived when the army has decided to put itself on the side of the people in order to save Gabon from chaos.
In this video grab made on a video footage obtained on YouTube on January 7, 2019, Gabon soldiers leave a studio of state radio after an address calling on the people to “rise up” and announcing a “national restoration council” would be formed, as an ailing President Ali Bongo is out of the country. – The message was read on state radio by a person who identified himself as the deputy commander of the Republican Guard and head of a group called the Patriotic Youth Movement of the Gabonese Defence and Security Forces
“If you are eating, stop; if you are having a drink, stop; if you are sleeping, wake up. Wake up your neighbours… rise up as one and take control of the street,” he said on the radio.
He called on people to occupy public buildings and airports throughout the country.
The developments came as Bongo is recovering at a private residence in the Moroccan capital Rabat.
The 59-year-old leader has not been back to Gabon since he fell ill in Saudi Arabia on October 24.
It was revealed last month that he had suffered a stroke.
On December 31, he addressed the country for the first time since falling ill, saying in a recorded speech from Morocco that he had “been through a difficult period.”
The Bongo family has governed the oil-rich equatorial African nation for five decades.
Ali Bongo was elected head of state after his father’s death in 2009.
He was narrowly re-elected in 2016 following a presidential poll marred by deadly violence and allegations of fraud.

Nairaland GeneralWhy We Moved Against Daily Trust - ARMY by Jabi17(op): 11:56am On Jan 07, 2019
THE Nigerian Army has explained that its action against Daily Trust yesterday, was because the media house revealed classified military information on war against terrorism,in the North East.

For videos and photos :https://echsense..com/2019/01/why-we-moved-against-daily-trust-army.html?m=1

The Army,in a statement midnight on Sunday,by its spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Usman, said the action of the media organisation, contained in its lead story on Sunday Trust publication, undermined national security.
In the statement captioned:”Clarification on invitation of Media Trust Staff by the security agencies”,the Nigerian Army insisted that it moved against the media house because in the story,”the newspaper made disclosed details of planned military operations against the Boko Haram terrorists.”
“The disclosure of classified security information amounts to a breach of national security and run contrary to Sections 1 and 2 of the Official Secrets Act. It afforded the Boko Haram terrorists prior notice of our plans and giving them early warning to prepare against the Nigerian military, thus sabotaging the planned operations and putting the lives of troops in imminent and clear danger.
“We would like to state that the invitation of those responsible for divulging military plans was done with the best of intention in order to make them realise the import of such acts to our national security. We therefore advice all, particularly journalists, not to worry but engage in their responsive reportage and to be professional as the Nigerian Army has no intention of muzzling the press or jeopardising press freedom.

” We however, wish to enjoin further that they should eschew jeopardizing national security in their reportage. We would not tolerate situation where a publication would consistently side with terrorists and undermine our National institutions.
“We wish to appeal to all, especially the media, to join hands with the Nigerian military and security forces to end terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria. We would like to further assure that the invitation is for further investigation and if need be, all those culpable of jeopardising operations security will be prosecuted by the relevant law enforcement agency. “
