That Nzeogwus was an Igbo coup

The only way to call Nzeogwu's coup an Igbo coup is if Murtala Mohammeds coup was a "Hausa coup", Dimkas coup a "middle belt coup", Buhari's coup a "Fulani coup", Babangida's coup a "Gwari coup" and Abacha's coup a "Kanuri coup". When people only remember to give ethnic tag to coup when it comes to Igbos, then you know something fishy is going on. They will later turn around and even tell you when it suits them, that Nzeogwu is not an Igbo man. Nigeria even rewarded notorious coup plotters like Buhari with Presidency, Murtala Mohammed put on the N20 note, and Babangida with GCFR

That Ironsi abolished Regionalism and introduced unitary rule with Decree 34

Of course they know you will never Google Decree 34 to find out it was a civil service Decree. What Ironsi introduced was military rule. He neither abolished the 4 Region's Nigeria had at the time, nor denied them resource control. It was Gowon that came after Ironsi, used Decree 14 to abolish all 4 Region's, created 12 states to replace them, and introduced full blown unity rule with Decree 15 which abolished resource control

That Ojukwu started the war

Far from it, Ojukwu did everything he could to prevent war including risking his own life to go to Aburi, Ghana, where the government of Ghana and Nigeria could have killed him, just to sign a peace agreement with Gowon, to keep Nigeria one and prevent war. Unfortunately, Gowon and his Northern cohorts broke the agreement and war followed. If anyone caused the war, it was Gowon

That Zik prevented secession clause from entering the constitution

There was Awolowo, there was ZIk, there was Ahmadu Bello, Aminu Kano, Enahoro etc. But they want you to believe that Zik alone arm-twisted all these heavy weights, to decide what should, or should not be in the constitution? Is that really practical? One man decided what will be in the constitution of Nigeria while the British were in control? Get real

That Igbos are the problem of Nigeria

Obj seniors the founders of PDP Gen. Babangida and Gen. Abubakar in the military, I can not see how they can ditch the 1995 Draft Constitution and replace it with a re-hatch of the 1979 constitution (that Obasanjo himself promulgated before handing over to President Shagari ) without consulting Obj who was already out of prison and considered one of the founders of PDP at that time.

That aside Obasanjo once president can do what he wants and can amend the 1999 constitution, which he did severally and he even attempted to amend it to allow himself to have a third term as president. So why did he not at least try to amend it to provide Igbos and other geopolitical zones, with guarantee of the seat of the presidency?

Finally after his 8 years in office the fair thing to do would have been hand the PDP presidential ticket to the Igbos or at least the VP, since Igbos are considered one of the 3 largest geopolitical zones but he gave neither the presidential or the VP ticket to Ndiigbo.

Many igbos online are not aware of even recent Nigerian history.

If Obj makes any small gesture that appear to support any candidate or cause that Igbos support , we Igbos would start hailing Obasanjo to high heavens, not realising that he is the main reason that we have yet to have a guarantee of an Igbo being president.

You see, General Abacha when he was poisoned in 1998 was just weeks away from introducing a new constitution which would have guaranteed an Igbo presidency.

The constitution (1995 draft constitution) that Abacha was about to implement, provided that each of the country's 6 geopolitical zones would get the presidency on a rotational basis.

Obasanjo jettisoned this draft constitution when he became president in 1999 and introduce our current 1999 constitution, which gives no guarantees for Igbos to get the presidency. At the end of his presidency, Obasanjo handed power to YaraDua (Northerner) and his VP Jonathan(SS).

Today Obasanjo could and often makes cheap speeches and gestures that seem supportive of Igbo aspirations or views and ignorant Igbos youths would hail him upandan!
