Hello, My Visa interview is Soon and I would like my transcript to be reviewed please, and if anyone is open a for mock Interview, I am available My transcript VO: Can I see you i20 and passport Me: Hand it over VO: Why are you going the US Me: To get a Masters in public health degree with a concentration in environmental and occupational health from the University of South florida. VO: Why the school Me: I choose USF because it us a researched based institution, the environmental and occupational health program has the Centre for environmental and occupational risk analysis and management which carry out researches in chemical exposure in agriculture industry and occupation and its risk and effect on human health, a centre i am very interested in working in, USF also carry out community engagement which would help me interact with agricultural workers on the field and learn current problems they encounter pertaining to the environment and what is being done to control them, and they have the graduate student research program which facilitates students to write for grants, funding for research and partipate in professional conference presentation which would improve my leadership and communication skills in my future career endeavour. VO: How many schools did you apply for Me : I applied to 5 Universities, I got admitted into 3 and I choose to attend USF VO:who will be funding your program Me: my uncle ... Will be sponsoring my MPH program, he has been my responsible for my education after the demise of his sister who is my mother VO: you have a bsc in agric. Me: yes with a concentration in soil science VO: So, why a MPH degree Me: During my internship, I got to work on the field with agricultural producers and I experienced the amount of chemical exposure that goes on in production of the food we consume as well as to the agricultural producers who do not take measures to protect themselves from these chemicals and chemical exposure in food can lead to some diseases related with the lungs and even cancer, that was when I decided that I wanted to protect agricultural producers while preserving the environment and meeting food requirements with safe practices and this degree and the coursework will help me achieve this goal VO: research interest Me: I am in contact with a prof who is the director of the Centre I am interested in working in and he as shown interest in what attracted me to the degree and has offered me a position in his research team and I intend working with him. He is currently working on presence of arsenic in rice and its effect on human health and I am interested in this research because rice is one of the staple food in Nigeria VO: Future plans Me: After my degree, I will return to Nigeria to resume a position with SRS to carry out chemical assessment and toxicology evaluation of chemicals used in agricultural production to ensure they are safe to use for both man and crop and are efficient and also carry out occupational safety checks on Agricultural industry . I also intend to partner with NGO and young agricultural producers to carry out sensitization on the need for PPE on the field as well as why traditional prepared preservatives does more harm than good. I would also work to bridge the gap between health and agriculture in Nigeria. |
