This has further confirmed my belief that Buhari is not man enough to handle Nigeria. Imagine a military man and Cin C for that matter allowing himself to be swept from office with ease, like a house boy. In fact, when I saw him shedding tears after losing election in 2011, I said to myself, "Buhari is a complete weakling and should never be entrusted with a position of leadership".
I like Buhari's moral stance but he lacks the courage, charisma and gut required of a president to move Nigeria forward at this moment.

Yes. I made this statement when GEJ increased fuel pump price astronomically. But he has reduced the price to a bearable level and fuel is available everywhere now. I thank him for listening to the cries and yearnings of Nigerians against the astronomical inrease. That is a true leader for you. GEJ may not be the best performer but he is the best available candidate at the moment. So, I give kudos to him.

I don't like Ignorants like you .... Acquisition of Knowledge stops when you are dead until then an Intelligent man will keep acquiring more and contributing to the development of his society .... The more you learn , the more wisdom/knowhow available @ your disposal in solving problem !!

Obasanjo is a motivator to me , a mentor I may never meet ..... Willing to do it better than him !!!
You think he is looking for knowledge or to have more paper qualification to his name? As far as I'm concerned OBJ has all the knowledge to make life worthwhile for himself and Nigerians. Unfortunately, typical of most Nigerians, he never made good use of the opportunities to lead this country well, bestowed on him on a platter of gold. What I expect from him at this moment is the self realisation that he has failed Nigerians and humanity and should be doing restitutions. He should be sharing his stolen wealth to the needy to appease God for his sins. Acquiring a paper qualification at this time and season of OBJ's life remains irrelevant and a misplaced priority.

If you are so eager to discuss inconclusive bills, pls open a thread on that. And i'm sure u'll get a full dose of discussions in tht regard.

As regards bills awaiting the President's assent, keep wallowing in self-denial and ignorance. Na u know. Keep supporting presidential laziness in assenting to bills passed by the NASS that will make the lives of people better. Even AIT that is pro PDP and Jonathan, acknowledged these pending bills awaiting assent.

See I don't have your time. I have provided you with enough evidences. Assuming you demonstrated sagacity and intellect in your utterances, I would have taken my time to dig them all out for you. But it is obvious if I take my time to search them out and give you, you will still continue on your ignominious path.

For where? Is it Buhari who as CinC was escorted out of office through a coup de tat just because his hitman, Gen Tunde Idiagbon (God bless his soul) was out of the country? I tell people that Buhari is not a strongman as people think. He is a weakling. Tell me, as CinC, he could not even muster his CDS or CAS to counter an harmless coup. If in an autocratic regime, Buhari was intimidated, is he a man we should trust in a democratic dispensation? Nigerians, think well o.

Why are u arguing blindly??

What we are discussing are the bills awaiting presidential assent!

If you want us to discuss inconclusive bills that's cool. We can do that. But u asked for evidence of numerous bills awaiting presidential assent and I provided u with so many evidences. You should acknowledge that and give your opinion about why so many bills are awaiting presidential assent. Instead, u are still claiming that it is a lie. Are u not ashamed of yourself?

Because u are a supporter of the president does not mean u should see white and call it black. Many of those bills if assented to will provide many jobs.

I'm very much aware of bills awaiting assent because of my professional interest in a particular bill that has been passed since 2012 by NASS that the president has not given his assent to. This particular bill among others will create many jobs.

It is even more worrisome, when a President does not give assent, and does not with-hold his assent. He just left them there like that, as if he does not give a damn!

And be aware that if the tenure of this present NASS elapses, work will have to start afresh on these bills by the next NASS. Imagine what a waste of time and resources that will be. Maintaining our NASS is very costly, and the president is not even trying to make the work they are doing to be worth the expenses.

Should that not give concern to any serious citizen?
Please post the list of bills forwarded to the president which he has not assented to. These days a lot of propaganda aimed at pulling GEJ down are peddled from newspaper houses. A document from NASS just like the one I posted will clear all doubts. Thanks for your understanding.

President Jonathan Yet To Pass Over 120 Bills To Law

- See more at: http://www.aitonline.tv/post-president_jonathan_yet_to_pass_over_120_bills_to_law#sthash.w7Cemj5I.dpuf

AIT
A major challenge before the 7th National Assembly as lawmaker’s resume next week is a pile of bills still awaiting President Goodluck Jonathan’s assent.

The National Assembly has eight months to either over-ride the president’s powers and pass such bills into law or watch their hard legislative work go down the drains.

About 120 bills are currently sitting on the table of President Goodluck Jonathan awaiting his assent; some have been there for over two years.

The President has thirty days to either give his assent or do otherwise, where he withholds his assent the Senate is empowered to veto his action, but the question being asked by is why the upper chamber is yet to exercise this power.

Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba said, “No quick fix when presidential assent is withheld, because you have to subject the bill again through the normal process of lawmaking.”

The process of passing a bill into law could be quite tedious and expensive, and allowing them to pileup in the file of the President clearly renders the entire job done by lawmakers useless or waste of precious time and money.

Senator Clever Ikisikpo said, “I know that I have presented about three good bills, two have passed through second reading, so it takes time and it also takes time for debates and take time for consideration and take time for public hearing and clause to clause mapping within the committee level.”

The 7th National Assembly has eight months to act on the bills not assented to before all of his activities stands dissolved. If this happens then all the bills gathering dust on the President’s table may have to restart the process of lawmaking.

Senator Clever Ikisikpo said, “It depends on the leadership, the leadership can say this bill has gone through to this level, so let’s start from here, that’s means it would not go through the way it suppose to go through, then it can be accelerated.”

Clearly there is need for continuity, a situation where lawmakers come and go is a major structural defect and fixing it may required borrowing the American model of staggered or midterm elections.

Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba said, “In the United States Congress for instance, you have bill that have been pending for a hundred years and they are still pending, it is so because they don’t have the equivalent provision in their constitution that says the congress stands dissolved, the United States Congress is never dissolved because you have elections that are staggered.”

At a moment the bills continue to rest on the president desk, but the bulk doesn’t seem to be on his table, much of it rests squarely on the shoulder of the Senate who many say shouldn’t be shy to exercise its powers enshrined in the constitution.

That annex has exposed the ineffectiveness of the house. Please read the remarks on those bills and you will weep for this country; that people who collect millions of Naira per month in a country with minimum wage of N18,000 have so many bills inconclusive after 3 years. I will attach the annex for ALL NL to download and read.
It is really disheartening that legislators do not take their jobs serious, abandoning so many bills with committees yet blaming president GEJ for not assenting to bills. Assent to inclusive bills or what?

PS: Sorry, the attachment could not be attached. Please download document from link and read.

Now, let us look at the issues. Section 68. (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria states inter alia"
A member of the Senate or of the House of Representatives shall vacate his seat in the House of which he is a member if -
(a) he becomes a member of another legislative house.
(b) any other circumstances arise that, if he were not a
member of the Senate or the House of Representatives,
would cause him to be disqualified for election as a
member;
(c) he ceases to be a citizen of Nigeria;
(d) he becomes President, Vice-President, Governor, Deputy Governor or a Minister of the Government of the Federation or a Commissioner of the Government of a State or a Special Adviser.
(e) save as otherwise prescribed by this Constitution, he becomes a member of a commission or other body established by this Constitution or by any other law.
(f) without just cause he is absent from meetings of the House of which he is a member for a period amounting in the aggregate to more than one-third of the total number of days during which the House meets in any one year;
(g) being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected; Provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he
was previously sponsored.

Tambuwal violated the above highlighted subsection and should vacate the seat of speaker HOR.

For those of you saying a minority has been speaker of house before, please note the reason why that happened:
"Thus passed into history, the life of an eminent Nigerian politician, who participated in the nurturing of our democratic culture during the two periods of post-military democracy. Chief Ume-Ezeoke burst into the political limelight when he emerged as the Speaker of the House of Representatives after the general elections of 1979. It was the first (and only time since then) that the head of an arm of our bicameral National Assembly would emerge from a political party that did not win the majority of seats in the parliament.
The reason for this unusual phenomenon was not farfetched. After the 1979 general elections, the National Party of Nigeria (NPN), which won the presidency and majority of the seats in both the Senate and House of Representatives could not fulfill the constitutionally required conditions to form government alone. It went into what was known as an accord with the third-placed Nigerian People’s Party (NPP), led by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, in a power-sharing arrangement.
Even though the accord later collapsed because the NPN was accused of poaching members of its coalition partner, Ume-Ezeoke kept his post till 1983 when another election was held".
