HOLINESS IS STILL POSSIBLE
It only takes holiness to do exploits for God. The Holy Spirit does not dwell in polluted vessels. He only operates in the vessel of holiness. Jesus Christ was highly anointed, he prayed always, he preached always, he worked miracles, yet he did not commit sin. Paul wrote concerning Him, "For he made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become
the righteousness of God in him." (2 Corinthians 5:21 ). Peter also confirms that Jesus was sinless, "Who committed no sin, nor was guile found in his mouth" (1 Peter 2:22). As Jesus was holy, so are we expected to be holy. "But as he which has called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. Because it is written, Be ye holy for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:15-16).

It is erroneously believed that holiness is not possible to achieve. This is because a natural man is naturally sinful. The natural man would always exhibit the tendency to sin, and the environment he lives in is configured around sin. No wonder David laments in Psalm 51:5, "Behold I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me."

Despite its seeming imposibility, it is actually very possible to live a holy life in this sinful world. It takes three simple steps to be holy.

1. New Birth: At new birth our spirit man is changed, our nature is renewed from the natural to the supernatural. At that point, the old nature is annihilated and the new nature takes over. The new nature is the nature of God, that hates sin and loves righteusness. The Bible says, "Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; bohold all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Another fact is that at new birth, Christ exchanges our sinful nature with His righteousness. Verse 21 of that same scripture says, "For he has made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteusness of God." Romans 10:10 reveals that new birth occurs at the point of our genuine confession of the lordship of Jesus Christ over our lives. "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

2. Faith: Holiness is not possible without faith. Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him. . ." It takes faith to believe that Christ has taken away our sins. It takes faith know that we are righteous and to live in righteousness and to practise righteouness. A faithless person always lives with guilty concience over his past sins and the sins of his ancestors. A faithless person does not believe it is possibe to be holy. To develope faith for holiness, we need to renew our minds daily with the word of God.

3. A conscious determination to remain holy: The mind of man is the seat of desire, decision and determination. Daniel 1:8 says, "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat nor with the wine which he drank. . ." No one becomes holy accidentally. Holiness is not a gift. It is a conscious effort that we make, knowing the consequences of sin in hell. The Holy Spirit only steps in to help us after we had taken the first step of decision.

As we have seen, it is holiness that gives us the locus standi, the right to interfere in the affairs of men for God. A sinner does no have the right to rebuke the devil because the devil is their master. The seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19:11-20 are a typical example of those who try to rebuke the devil while still in the devil's camp. They were disgraced and embarrased.

A christian can only affect his society positively at the platform of holiness. The Bible says in Isaiah 32:1 says , "Behold a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgement." Holiness is the beauty of christianty, besides it is the only ticket to heaven.

WHO IS A CHRISTIAN?
The bible says that the disciples were called christians first in Antioch (Acts 11:26). This name came about as a result of the various innumerable and undeniable signs and wonders that were done through them. It was not accorded to them due to their regularity in church attendance or as a mere title. The Bible accounts that God did so many miracles through the apostles. Acts 5:12 says, "By the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wroght among the people." The disciples were so anointed that even the shadows of Peter for example could heal the sick. Seeing all the miracles, it was obvious that it was as a result of their identification with Jesus. Acts 4:13 says ". . .they marvelled and they took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus." This shows that the disciples replicated all the works and teachings of Jesus Christ.

From this, it therefore means that a true christian is not just a person who attends a church, or who holds a church position. A christian is a person who has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus to manifest His glory and shine His light upon the dark world. A christian is a person who has been commissioned to manifest the glory of God through signs and wonders. A christian is not just a passive dweller on the earth, or an unconcerned observer of the activites on earth, he is the one charged with the responsibility of effecting a positive change in the world. Matthew 5:14 says that we are the light of the world. In other words, we are not expected to fold our hands to see the world continue in darkness. We shine the light of the gospel, the light of liberation from the captivity of satan. A christian is the one with whom the Lord is working and confirming His words with signs following ( Mark 16:20). It is the actions we take on the situations around us that identify us as chistians, not just our innate and unexpressed intentions, not even verbal professions or our church affiliations. A christian is the one who is never comfortable with anything contrary to the will of God such as sickness, sin, poverty, satanic oppression, troubles, etc. So he would always do everything to bring about a positive change. A christian is the vanguard in establishing the kingdom of God here on earth, and is ready to take up this role. This is the major role that the christian is expected to play in the society.

WHY BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE

Matthew 13:24-30 reads thus:

24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and
went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will
say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

The act of the man in the parable - sowing good seed - is symbolic of all the good works we do both to God and humanity. We give good offerings, we render humanitarian services, we act in honesty, we maintain peace, obey constituted authority, keep to time, etc, but yet our results do not match our good input. Sometimes we may even experience a contrary results. Sometimes the people to whom we even do good turn around to reward us with evil. Legal and 'godly' businesses are most times very likely to fail. The innocent are usually the highest casualty of any war. This shows that innocence, purity, holiness gentleness, goodness, etc, alone are never a gurantee for safety. Satan is always very angry with any good work, so he would always sow tares to corrupt it.

A very great error of the sowers is that they went to sleep after sowing their good seed. This also the grave error of chistiandom. Today so many a christian is asleep after rendering good works. The devil never sleeps, he would always come at night to steal, to kill and to destry. Amos 6:1 says "Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and
trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!" CHRISTIANS ARE SO MUCH ASLEEP IN PRAYERLESSNESS. This the singular reason why we suffer defeat in sickness, untimely death, crisis, poverty, oppression of occultism and witchcraft, etc. You are expected to stay awake (in prayers) and watch over your seed.

Matthew 8:11 says that the seed is the word of God. There is no situation on earth that does not have the word solution. It is left for you to watch over that word-seed in prayers and meditation to keep the devil away and allow for its growth for the fruition of your testimonies.

Ironically, muslims pray 5 times a day, jews pray thee times a day. Buddists and Hindus spend so much time in meditation, yet a greater percentage of christians only pray serimoniously during sunday services and general prayer meetings. They never have a prayer closet which Jesus Christ recomends in Matthew 6:6. THIS IS WHY WE CHISTIANS ARE SUFFERING DEFEAT. It is high time we rediscoverd prayer which is and has always been the weapon of christian victory.
