REPORT ON DAMAGE CLUTCH KIT V/W 17-220. DEISLE ENGINE

The gear selector is broken while the driver forcefully moved the truck with the high engaged gear out of the road with smoke coming out from the fly wheel housing.

as a result: Clutch burnt due to wrong gear engaged.

My question is this clutch was changed barely two months Ago. is it possible for this clutch to just pack up under this situation not surviving a Little longer?
