Thank you so much studyless123: It's normal to be nervous. Try as possible to be calm before your session. Go with the mindset that the refusal rate is high. Be familiar with what you filled in the form - and be able to speak to it. I wish you the very best. |

I will surely keep you guys informed Thank you Cashmadam: Calm down! You will be fine!
1. Pray! 2. Get all your documents ready tonight - don't leave it till the last minute 3. Get to the embassy at least 30 minutes before your appointment. The earlier, the better. That gives you time to comport yourself 4. Don't listen to the touts around the Embassy. They cannot help you in any way. Focus on your mission there 5. When it is your turn for the interview, be confident, speak clearly, answer only the questions you are asked 6. Avoid over explaining any point 7. If you don't understand a question, ask for clarification 8. Do not lie 9. Remember all the information in your DS 160 form. Do not change your information for any reason. Remain consistent. Same question might be asked in different ways to check if you are lying 10. Maintain eye contact. Do not act desperate. The more relaxed you are, the better 11. Do not offer any document unless you are asked 12. Listen attentively and ensure you understand a question or comment before you say anything 13. Remember: anything you say can and will be used against you. Choose your words very carefully 14. Pray silently throughout the interview - prayers work! 15. Whatever the outcome is, accept it as the will of God and move on
Keep us informed. Good luck! |

Thank you so much I really appreciate VisaZest: Hi,
Being nervous is normal and I understand but don't allow the nerves get to you. Think of the interview like a conversation- don't be informal and don't over-talk but confidently pass your points across.
My tips? 1. Prepare for typical questions. I have shared a list of some below. You can Google for more. You don't want to sound robotic like you memorised all answers but you also don't want to be unprepared. 2. Closely tied to point 1, understand that the interview is the main thing. They are not likely to ask for documents so let your words communicate what you need to communicate. Don't think if they ask who you are visiting, your answer will be to present an invitation letter or if they ask about your job, you will present employment letter. Be ready to speak in the 3-5 minutes you have with them. 3. This one is very important. Ignore what is going on in other windows. As you wait your turn, you may witness several rejections, ignore them because everybody's case is different. You are there to receive your approval. Don't let the refusals you witness distract and destabilise you. 3. Get there early so you don't feel rushed. 4. It's okay if circumstances have changed from what you have in your DS 160 eg your travel dates but have an explanation that makes sense.
Possible questions 1. What's the purpose of your visit? 2. How long do you plan to stay in the US? 3. Where in the US will you be visiting (be specific) and who are you visiting (if applicable)? 4. What do you do for a living?
All the best with your interview! |

Efetobore1980: ** Yes. You must fill another one. Ds-160 is what the visa officer will use to interview you on the D-day so you have to fill it responsibly. Flimsy mistake in your ds-160 can be used against your visa success. 👍 Okay thank you |

Please I was lucky to get a visa appointment of 11th of July but when I was filling my ds160 I put 15th of July as my intended travel date
Is there a need to fill another ds160 and change the intended travel date |

Okay thank you Efetobore1980: Hello Jane. Your category is actually B2 (pleasure & tourism) but if the page did not ask you to specify you should pick B1/B2.
The reason is that when the embassy wants to issue your visa they will issue you B1/B2 (80% of the time) because they don't want you to come back and apply for B1 since both visa categories are related.
B1 is for those going to America for more serious and profitable activities. 👍 |
