Siena, I've become a big fan of this thread. I'm having problems with my 2001 audi a6 2.7 quattro. The car has 178000 miles on it. The cel is on, however there have never been any red indicator lights. Recently after a short trip the car would not start. The engine cranks but won't start. Sprayed some carb cleaner into the intake, it started then died.

Previous to this the oil pressure sensor light flickered on and off a few times. It would then show a loss of oil pressure briefly then recover.

I used the obd scanner and it gave 3 codes p1475, p0421, and p0431. I have absolutely no idea what those mean but I'm fairly certain none of those are good.

In addition, the car during the summer runs hotter than normal no matter what. It routinely goes one notch past the center mark with the ac on. I hear fans whirring but they don't appear to help. The engine seems strong, but if you step on the had, the rpm meter spikes but the car doesn't accelerate . It hesitates then speeds up.

Lastly, there is a hose connected to nothing. It must have some purpose. Not any obvious places to connect it too. I've attached a pic of the mystery hose.

I love the car but I'm ready to send it over a cliff. I'm a mechanical idiot but I can follow directions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. One more thing, I'm beginning to suspect my local mechanic is a bigger idiot than I.
