You're welcome bro.I just pray this Zmapp be sent over to these affected countries in large quantities...
HealthRe: GOOD NEWS: Ebola Drug Passes Early Test by jaybel(op): 6:52am On Aug 30, 2014
According to the W.H.O, about 1,500 people
have died in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra
Leone since the disease emerged in West Africa
early 2014.
Six people have died in Nigeria alone since the
dreaded disease was brought to the country by
a Liberian diplomat, Patrick Sawyer on 20 July,
2014 . He later died from the disease on 25
July.
HealthRe: GOOD NEWS: Ebola Drug Passes Early Test by jaybel(op): 6:49am On Aug 30, 2014
Meanwhile, independent experts have started
hailing the results as an encouraging first step
in the long vetting process.
They added, though, that it was still unclear
whether ZMapp worked on humans, as two
patients who have been given it have died and
two others have recovered.
“Widespread availability and use of ZMapp will
require human safety testing and licensing,
coupled with scaleup of the manufacturing
process,” cautioned David Evans, a professor of
virology at Britain’s University of Warwick.
ZMapp is being developed by Mapp
Biopharmaceutical Inc. of San Diego, California,
partly in conjunction with the US Army.
ZMapp has so far been given to seven infected
frontline workers.
Of these, two American doctors have
recovered; a Liberian doctor and a Spanish
priest have died; and a doctor and a nurse,
both Liberian, and a British nurse, who has
been flown to London from Sierra Leone, are
still in treatment.
The World Health Organisation, W.H.O, gave
the green light on August 12, saying it was
ethical to use experimental drugs in the
context of this dangerous epidemic.
Stocks of ZMapp, which is derived from
tobacco leaves and is hard to produce on a
large scale, are exhausted, the company said
on August 12.
Investigation revealed that the other main
experimental drug for the disease is TKM-Ebola,
being developed by Tekmira Pharmaceuticals
Corp. of Vancouver, Canada, under a $140-
million (105-million-euro) contract with the
Pentagon.
It is currently in a Phase I human trial, the first
step in the three-phase test process. In this
phase, a drug is evaluated on healthy non-
infected humans to see whether it is safe.
Further phases test it for safety and also
effectiveness.

and high levels of enzymes in the liver.
They also stated that three “control” monkeys
that had been infected, but not treated, all
died within eight days.
It was gathered that 21 animals had been
given the so-called Kikwit strain of Ebola,
named after a location in the Democratic
Republic of Congo, the country where the
hemorrhagic fever was discovered in 1976.
But lab-dish tests indicate it can also inhibit the
strain in Guinea which has sparked the current
epidemic, the scientists said.
HealthRe: GOOD NEWS: Ebola Drug Passes Early Test by jaybel(op): 6:47am On Aug 30, 2014
It was gathered that it is a norm to experiment
drugs on animals first and then on
progressively larger groups of humans to
ensure they are safe and effective.
But, in an exceptional move, ZMapp that has
not gone through these tests has been rushed
to the outbreak in West Africa, as the lethal
disease has no cure.
According to the Canadian researchers, 18
rhesus macaque monkeys given high doses of
Ebola virus fully recovered after being given
ZMapp, even when it was administered five
days after infection.
The scientists informed that the drug reversed
dangerous symptoms such as bleeding, rashes
HealthGOOD NEWS: Ebola Drug Passes Early Test by jaybel(op): 6:46am On Aug 30, 2014
After all the bad news that have been
going round over the outbreak of the
Ebola virus in West African countries,
Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia,
a piece of good news finally arrived some
moments ago.
Reporting online in the British journal Nature,
researchers at the Public Health Agency of
Canada announced that a prototype drug,
ZMapp, that has been urgently given to a
handful of patients with Ebola has cleared an
important test hurdle.
According to the scientists report, the drug
test results showed that ZMapp cured lab
monkeys that have been infected with the
Ebola virus disease.

EducationUniversity Of Ibadan Offers 6 Post Utme Candidates Scholarships by jaybel(op): 11:05am On Aug 23, 2014
The University of Ibadan has offered scholarship to the six candidates that
scored 88 percent and above in its Post-UME test.
The vice-chancellor of
the university, Prof.
Isaac Adewole, stated
this at a news
conference held on
Friday in Ibadan to
announce the result of
the examination which
was conducted on
Saturday.
“The best candidate,
Animashaun
Oluwakayode Daniel,
scored 90 per cent,
while five candidates – Ajari Esther, Oteri Efeturi, Ojo Oluwadamilare,
Omitoyin Oluwafemi and Aremu Oluwadamilola – scored 88 per cent.
“The scholarship will cover their accommodation. These are
bright candidates so we do not expect them to fail.
“We want to assure these students that UI will offer them the best facilities
that can be found in Nigeria.
He said that of the 8,844 candidates who registered for the Post-UME test,
6,257 scored 50 and above while 236 did not turn up for the examination.
“If a candidate fails to score 50, he or she is not going to be considered for
admission. So, 2,351 candidates failed the examination.’’
The vice-chancellor stressed that the university is concerned about the
integrity of its Post-UME test.
“The male to female ratio is 45 to 55; UI admitted more females than males
in recent time.’’
The vice-chancellor urged the Federal Government to introduce strategies
that would encourage students to study agriculture.
“Government at all levels as well as parents and guardians must encourage
students to study agriculture and education courses in the overall interest of
the nation,” he said.
“You see the majority of parents come to say their sons and daughters want
to read medicine, law and all that.’’
According to him, hardly do parents say their sons and daughters want to
study agriculture or education.
Adewole explained that the trend could be counterproductive, saying all
sectors should be given equal attention. [NAN]

HealthHow Patrick Sawyer Deceived The Liberian Gov't by jaybel(op): 6:58am On Aug 15, 2014
How Patrick Sawyer Deceived The Liberian Government
Yesterday
Details of how the Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer, who brought the Ebola
Virus Disease to Nigeria, deceived the Liberian Government in allowing him to
travel to Nigerian have emerged.
According to Premium Times, Patrick Sawyer manipulated his way down to
Nigeria by making the Liberia Government and the Economic Community of
West African States believe that he was Ebola free, thereby granting him the
opportunity to travel down to Nigeria.
Sebastian Muah, who is the Liberian Deputy Minister of Finance on Fiscal
Affairs made it known in an email forwarded to Premium times that the late
Liberian-American made it known that to them that he did not have any
contacts with his late sister who died from the pawns of the deadly disease,
making them believe that he could be allowed to travel out of the country.
Related : Why Patrick Sawyer Deliberately Travelled To Nigeria – Wife
Sebastian further said that late Patrick Sawyer lied about so many things just
to be allowed to travel to Nigeria. He said Patrick lied about his job, saying he
had quit his employment as Public Health Manager of ArcelorMittal, an iron
ore mining company in the country; He said he also lied about having been
tested of the Ebola disease long before the time he was to travel down to
Nigeria; he was also said to have told same lies to ECOWAS, sidestepping the
Liberian Minister of Finance, dealing directly with ECOWAS on matters
concerning the trip.
Read the full mail below:
”Sawyer’s travel was made possible not by the GoL (Government of Liberia).
My office has a review and approval process for ECOWAS related travel.
Sawyer, if you must know, was asked not to report to work even at the
Ministry of Finance.
“The fact of the matter, this many of us now know, is when you’re tested for
Ebola right after contact, your test will come back negative. Being a non-
medical officer, and seeing his emails from the time he was still supposedly
employed by Mittal as their Public Health Manager (which he was still
employed until his death deceiving us that he was no longer in their employ),
he said he’d was in NO direct contact and that he had submitted himself for
testing, but anyone can claim they’re “Ebola Free” if tested right after contact
(something his email claimed he had NOT made with his sister [Direct contact
with fluids]).
“Further, the fact that he requested e-tickets and I was NOT copied on those
communications says that he did not want me informed. But I have a process
of approval and believed that any such travel would meet that approval
process; hence my assertion as to making the approval.
“But apparently, people were self-contracting on an “honour” system of
quarantining themselves. Because I did not get a watch list to know who were
to be quarantined or not. But shifting blame is NOT a part of who I am, I
believe institutions should be the basis of functionality and not individuals.
“The system of approval for Travel was NOT followed and for the record,
Sawyer’s trip was not approved by the system I had in place and hence did
NOT meet my approval. My folks indicated to me that no request was made
through the system.
“He travelled because he did NOT inform the ECOWAS commission who
purchased his plane tickets and paid per diem for his travel; and because we
did not have this ticket information to actually alert relevant authorities to
stop such.
“Upon checking his government emails I was able to uncover that he was
communicating differently and directly with ECOWAS Commission (both using
his Yahoo and gov.lr ) and got an e-ticket from the Commission’s travel Unit.
He did NOT even inform the ECOWAS Ambassador in Liberia, who was
traveling with him about his situation. His email to folks at ECOWAS only said
he had lost his sister.
“Further to that, he WAS in the employ of Mittal, this was information I was
NOT made aware. When there is a broken system of communication and silo
institutional structure, someone intending to deceive can get away with such.
“The ticket below shows who actually paid for Mr. Sawyer’s travel to Nigeria.
No senior management at MoF saw Sawyer from the inception of his letter
until his demise. Key here is when there is no strong integration around
institutional communication, people can dupe the system.
“In this case Sawyer for no reason whatsoever I can imagine decided that he
was going to travel while sick. A fundamental challenge with the fight that we
have to make against this Disease. Ebola is a disease that can thrive on
deceit, self-denial, pride, envy, non-patriotic behaviour.”
Below is the ticket with which Mr. Sawyer would have travelled to Calabar.

It would be recalled that Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria, had a clean
slate of record of this Ebola disease, not until the late Patrick Sawyer brought
it down to the country; a step which made President Goodluck Jonathan
describe him as a mad man . The Ebola has however been spreading in the
country, as another Nigerian nurse, Obi Justina Ejelonu who attended to the
late Sawyer, died this morning from the wicked hands of the deadly disease.
