PoliticsINEC Chairman, Rivers REC, Biased, Doing The Bidding Of Gov. Wike. ~ RARE by Jayoneyz(op): 8:17am On Mar 19, 2019
The Coming Anarchy: A Case in Rivers State~ It is avoidable.
It was in the wake of the 2019 General elections and as political parties have all geared up for the much awaited exercise. Many have travelled from far and near to their polling units in wait for the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to do EXACTLY what the law establishing it have empowers it to do.
Political analysts, political parties and their supporters, the electoral umpire and of course watchers were all set and ready for the season to kickstart. The time was here. The clock ticking. The people are ready and it was only about 6 hours to the elections to happen when at about 3:45am Saturday February 9, 2019 that INEC made a public press statement postponing the general elections which was to begin with Presidential and National Assembly (Senate & House of Representatives); sighting logistics challenges as the reason for the postponement. That didn't go down well with Nigerians because people had planned it and the processes regarding the elections didn't start in a week before then. How come logistics challenges became the reason? It was a bad scene to behold but the elections have been postponed by 2 weeks. All those who had moved to their various polling units didn't find it funny. The business community frowned at it. The education sector would lose two more days for no sane reason.
Trust Nigerians, they adapted and all sectors moved on. We shall be waiting for February 23, 2019 they say. It will come and go as well but to many others, INEC leadership had misbehaved. Though many submitted that the 2015 general elections, at a point too was postponed. One thing those in that line of thought didn't recall was that the then National Security Adviser NSA had raised an alarm about a security breach that could mar the whole electoral process which has the capacity to throw Nigerians into anarchy and that was done days to the elections and not few hours to the process as was the case in 2019.
The action of the electoral umpire was, from the beginning clothed with suspicion. Prior to the elections, there was no major stakeholders meeting with interest and political parties. There has been allegations of complacency against the National Chairman of INEC Prof. Mahmud Yakubu whose body language suggests that of someone who has so much to hide and protect.
People raise objections as to his responses to complaints from various quarters about how some State Resident Electoral Commissioners hobnobs with certain or a particular political party but all that and many more fell on deaf ears forgetting that he (Prof. Yakubu) is a public servant.
In the case of Rivers State, INEC had redeployed one Mr. Aniedi Ikwiowak who served as REC after the incerceration of Ms. Gesila Khan and brought in the current REC Mr. Obo Effanga from Cross Rivers State. Mr. Effanga, a sworn member of one of the political parties the PDP and great sympathizer of Gov. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, sent to Rivers State by the National Chairman Prof. Mahmud Yakubu on a clear mission to do the bidding of the PDP led administration in the State; an assignment he is enjoyably carrying out to the letter.
Mr. Effanga, in doing what he was commissioned to do; his first assignment as a litmus test was the Port Harcourt State Constituency seat bye elections. The elections was held in just 8 wards. It was a State constituency as only a few sections would be entitled to vote. The people gathered to vote as usual but up till now, the outcome of that by-election is yet to be made known to the voters and that seat remained vacant as they are left without a representative. Collations was on when Mr. Effanga went on air to announce that the by election was inconclusive. The candidate of the All Progressives Congress was leading with a very clear margin when to their amazement, Mr. Obo Effanga made that announcement. But for the peaceful disposition of members of the APC , this State would have been thrown into crisis because of the greed of Mr. Effanga and his insensitive disposition to the plight of the people.
Petitions and protest notes to the National Chairman of INEC and even peaceful walks on the street to express grievance at the actions and unilateral decision of Mr. Effanga didn't get any response from the National INEC. Today, people refer to that pending issue as one to have been overtaken by events but the question remains: ARE WE STILL IN AN ORGANIZED SETTING?
The new date for the Presidential elections came. It was February 23, 2019. In the wake of that election especially here in Rivers State, voters were greeted to that day with sporadic gun shots at various LGAs. The worst took place at the Akuku Toru LGA where soldiers who were on their routine patrol on election duty were ambushed and some of them killed. Even after the Presidential elections are over and results announced, the criminals still invaded the Soldiers and killed some of their officers. Rivers State was again in the news for all the wrong reasons. The land has once again been thrown into mourning as some armless citizens on election duty loss their lives in the process.
Shockingly, what came from the electoral umpire was that men and officers of the Nigeria Army were killed because they were involved in unprofessional actions. Here in Rivers State, the world knows the present administration under the Nyesom Wike celebrates violence and thrives in vicious tendencies. What men of the Nigeria Army do here is protect lives and properties. What can possibly be the gains of any State government in fighting security operatives? What even should give a voice to such insane allegation that the Army is planning to assassinate the Governor? All that is a ploy to create diversion and distract the public from his game and romance with the State Rec Mr. Obo Effanga who obviously has a price tag on him.
Records have it that the National Chairman of INEC Prof. Muhmud Yakubu had worked as the Executive Director of the Tetiary Education Trust Funds TETFunds while Gov. Nyesom Wike was the supervisory minister of education and both could not account for funds meant for the construction of Almajiri Schools, training and retraining of University lecturers which appears to watchers as the reason all petitions sent to him about Mr. Effanga didn't receive the necessary attention. The duo of Nyesom Wike and Prof. Yakubu have a history together and that explains the reason why petitions against Mr. Effanga is not given attention.
Now, anarchy looms. The people are apprehensive and agitated. Tensions are high. Illegality thrives. Those who challenge the lawless display are haunted down. Those at that level of authority are feigning ignorance because it is their creation. Will this wickedness against our Constitution be overlooked. Rivers people are fed up with what is going on but are helpless. It has now become the fate of Rivers State that everything evil and or unconstitutional must first be experimented in Rivers State. The sheer abandonment of the letters of the Constitution by Ms. Gesila Khan is still evergreen in our memories. The strength of the people suggest repulsion against these people with sinister plots against the common peace and existence of the people. They don't want to experience what befell them almost about 4 years ago. They are holding unto strength and courage but avoiding confrontations. They are been pushed by these people who don't want to see beyond their greed. Rivers State will not slide into anarchy again but the people will not fold their hands and watch haters of peace subvert the will of the people.
It was the date for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections to hold on the rescheduled date: March 9, 2019. The elections was generally peaceful State wide until it was time for collations officers to collate and return results from polling units to wards and then to LGAs. Parties and interest groups have discovered that LGA returning officers ROs were strong supporters and even former aspirants of the People's Democratic Party, the PDP on which platform Gov. Nyesom Wike was running. It was so glaring to the extent that one of the returning officers was the younger brother of the candidate of the PDP for the Rivers South East Senatorial district. Now, the modalities as set up by the INEC was that all ROs must be members of the Academic Community with Doctorate degree but the younger brother to the Senatorial candidate is still a student. A known PDP member, one Dr. Peter Meedee was also one of the ROs. We had one Prof. Mmom and so on and so forth. Members of the All Progressives Congress APC raised alarm and protested and as usual, Mr. Effanga and Prof. Yakubu ignored the complaints but Rivers people voted anyway.
When collations started; some LGAs was already done theirs while some were yet to conclude collation, the INEC went on air to announce the suspension of the electoral process sighting widespread violence. It was shocking and still is that Mr. Effanga who, at that point thought that there was need for such pronouncent should have called on stakeholders to brainstorm but didn't do so even when he got reports that Gov. Nyesom Wike had invades the Obio/Akpor collation centre with thugs numbering over 1000 and had orders his CSO to shoot at soldiers who were there at the collation centre. It was shocking to the public that INEC blames the unlawful pronouncement on violence where no civilian was injured but only Army officers were attacked and are still battling for their lives.
The thoughts in the minds of most Rivers people and the All African Congress AAC (the party that was leading in the 15 LGAs collated before that flagrant disregard for the rule of law by the INEC) is that if Soldiers could be shot at such close range in a manner such as was in obedience of Gov. Wike orders, then the situation, as it appears on Rivers State is a helpless one which shall slide into the option of self-help by citizens.
Asked in what clime would an election hold and it's process was suspended and up till now, more than a week after, the fate of a whole state is hanging on the balance and at the mercy of men who have no conscience but are bent on causing crisis in the State? As it is today, INEC have contradicted itself many times in one week. The Chairman Prof. Yakubu will make a public statement at a different forum while Obo Effanga will make a counter and another National Commissioner will do his own counter; all leaving Rivers State in an avoidable dilemma.
What is happening in Rivers State as presently caused by public officers who are strangers to life's morals should be condemned by everyone and every institution. Today, it's as if Rivers State is the guinea pig of Nigeria where any and every thing can be tried and it goes unchallenged but this time around, there is a vehement resistance force that has been mustered to put a permanent stop to all these vile experiences against this State.
If Mr. Obo Effanga is not redeployed immediately and Prof. Mahmud Yakubu takes to honour and resigns his position, these duo are capable in throwing this Nation into avoidable calamity and as it is today, we cannot recover from the civil unrest that could break out hence the call for the right thing to be done. Rivers State shall be taken by force from those who have caused us retrogression. The Wike led administration is Rivers' worst nightmare. Mr. Obo Effanga and Prof. Yakubu, men who's conscience have been traded for money shall not be allowed to continue to dance around the destiny of Rivers State, causing her delay. The State is set to move further and farther. The people are ready. INEC must do the needful and declare the winner of the March 9 Governorship election in person of Engr. Biokpomaba Awara whose winning margin is already on record. Failure to do that and that right early is capable of sliding Rivers State into a constitutional crisis.
Let wisdom lead.

CrimeNigeria Army Reply INEC, Say INEC Is Economical With The Truth Over Rivers Poll by Jayoneyz(op): 11:15pm On Mar 18, 2019
PRESS RELEASE

RE: RIVERS STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army (NA) have observed with dismay and sense of betrayal in the statement made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) signed by its National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee Festus Okoye Esq on 15 March 2019. The statement according to INEC was the findings of its Fact-Finding Committee that assessed the situation in Rivers State.

It is however pertinent to note that, representatives of the 6 Division met with the Fact-Finding Committee on Tuesday 12 March 2019 at the INEC Headquarters in Port Harcourt and had honest discussions and made a written submission to aid the Committee in its task. Regrettably, none of the Division’s input form any of the findings of INEC as made public. This clearly indicates lack of trust by an institution that the NA sacrifices so much to assist in the course of performing their role.

Genesis of the suspension of Governorship/State House of Assembly elections process in Rivers State

What INEC failed to mention or even consider is the fact that at about 10:30 pm on Saturday 9th March 2019, troops of 6 Division NA detailed at the outer perimeter of Obio/Akpor Local Government Headquarters Collation Center were brazenly attacked by Governor Wike’s security aides and armed thugs who stormed the collation center with the Governor in a convoy of more than 50 vehicles while collation of results was going on. In the ensuing melee, Captain Adams Salami was shot at close range by the security aides of Governor Wike while Corporal Adeosun Adebayo was matcheted by Governor Wike’s thugs. Both victims are currently receiving treatment at University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Intensive Care Unit and Military Hospital Port Harcourt respectively with life threatening injuries. Thereafter, election materials were carted away and electoral officials abducted by the Governor’s thugs to an unknown destination. This was made known to the INEC Fact-Finding Committee but INEC does not see it worth condemning or mention in its report.

Consequently, after due consultations and considerations between 6 Division and the Rivers State Police Command on Sunday the 10th of March 2019, the Rivers State Police Command, on their own, - took the initiative to invite the media to the hospitals where the 2 victims are receiving treatment and thereafter to host a press conference on the matter with the view to dissociate itself from the unprofessional conduct exhibited by their men attached to Wike and tell the public what disciplinary action the command will take or is already taking. However, while the visit to the victims was accomplished and the 2 victims interviewed by the media, the press conference was aborted by the Police after journalists have been assembled.

Coincidentally, a rescheduled
press conference on the matter was also aborted on Thursday the 14th of March 2019. Most disheartening is that while the Rivers State Police Command accepts the involvement of their personnel in the attack at Obio/Akpor LG Headquarters, till date those personnel have not at least been reprimanded.

To this end, - in the circumstance, - the 6 Division NA as a stakeholder in the 2019 General Elections takes exception to the lopsided and therefore unfair INEC report and is hereby strongly and totally rejected by the NA.

The Division is equally disappointed with the attitude exhibited by the Nigerian Police in this regard and hereby request the police leadership to commence full scale investigation of those security aides to Governor Wike that attacked troops at the Obio/Akpor LG Headquarters Collation Center and shot at Capt AA Salami with a view to appropriately sanction those found responsible/culpable. Until that is done, Headquarters 6 Division NA will have to review all existing joint  activities with the Rivers State Police Command.

You are kindly requested to disseminate this information to the general public. Thank you for your usual cooperation

PoliticsNepotism: Cbn, In Fairness To Pmb by Jayoneyz(op): 7:23am On Mar 05, 2019
NEPOTISM: IN FAIRNESS TO PMB

News broke yesterday of the removal of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, though it later turned out to be a fake news. As I expected, many analysts, mainly from the South went to town with different narratives on possible reason for his sack, most laced with ethno-religious sentiments.

Now, this is my view.

Nigeria operates a two-in-one principle; turn-by-turn and balancing. Turn-by-turn implies that when the head of a government institution or agency from the one part of the country completes his/her tenure, he's replaced by someone from the other part. Eg, Obasanjo from South was succeeded by Yar'adua from the North. Yar'adua from North was succeeded by a GEJ from the South while GEJ was succeeded by a PMB from the North.

In the Army, immediate past Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ken Minimah hails from Rivers State. It's only rational that he would be replaced by someone from the North, in this case, Gen.Tukur Buratai from Borno, North

The Judiciary had Mahmud Mohammed from the North as CJN in 2016, he was replaced with Onnoghen from the South. Onnoghen has again be replaced with Ibrahim Tanko from the North

In the Navy, Usman Oyibe Jibrin from the North was succeeded by Ibok Ibas from the South as Naval Chief following his appointment in 2015 by PMB

In the Airforce, Air Chief Amosu from the South was replaced by Sadique Abubakar from the North by PMB

In the Police, PMB inherited Solomon Arase from South who was appointed by GEJ and allowed his full tenure. He was replaced with Idris from the North. The slight adjustment here is that Idris was succeeded by Mohammed also from the North same way Sunday Ehindero was succeeded by Mike Okiro from the South

At the NNPC, immediate past GMD, Mr. Andrew Yakubu from the North took over from Augustine O. Oniwon from the South (2010- June 26, 2012) and is succeeded by I've Kachikwu from the South. Kachikwu is succeeded by Maikanti Barau from the North

Now, at the CBN, immediate past Governor, HRH Sanusi from the North was succeeded by a Godwin Emefiele from the South. Emefiele was inherited by PMB from GEJ and is allowed to serve out his full term. Following the already established pattern, it therefore amounts to equity and fairness that he be replaced with someone from the North when he eventually leaves. So what's the ethnic cry about?

It's sad how people deliberately want to twist facts just to score premeditated aims.
It's more saddening that those who ordinarily should know our recent history have allowed themselves to be dragged on the nose like mumu, as said in the local parlance

Finally, should all the appointments be succeeded by people from a particular region for PMB to be a good man? Let's show some knowledge of our country, please

Nairaland GeneralOpen Letter To Goodluck Jonathan by Jayoneyz(op): 3:29pm On Nov 24, 2016
OPEN LETTER TO GOODLUCK JONATHAN.

Your excellence, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I write you this open letter knowing my letter will not get to you if I post it the conventional way.

Sir recall that in 2013, the ministry of interior under the care of Abba Moro, advertised vacancy in some positions in the Nigerian Immigration Services and asked unemployed Nigerian youths to apply with the sum of 1000 naira only. Over 7 million unemployed Nigerians applied for the various positions advertised, Sir, I am one of them. Almost a year later, we were invited to come and write a screening/fitness test. Mine was in Yakubu Gowon (then Liberation) stadium. Sir, right before me, 3 unemployed Nigerian youths lost their lives including a pregnant woman. We wrote the test nonetheless (its a pity).

Sir, I want to remind you that no body was employed after that recruitment test which we paid 1000 naira for, which means nobody got value for the 1000 naira paid.

Sir, just to inform you, the current President of Nigeria Mohammadu Buhari just employed 200000 Nigerian youths for the first batch of the N-Power scheme which will employ more 300000 applicants without a single casualty recorded. Sir, I almost forgot to inform you the N-power scheme did not collect any fee from applicants meaning it was free.

Sir, the main reason why I wrote this open letter is to remind you that you are still owing me 1000 naira and the interest has appreciated using the MMM formula of 30% interest a month x 3 years. Calculating it, the accrued figure you
are owing me according to MMM
Formula, if using #1000 x 3years (36
months) = #129,600.

Sir, please try to pay me back my money as it will go a very long way in expanding my fish farm. Here are my account details.

Account Name: Justice Chigonum.
Account Number: 2041278488
Bank: UBA (savings)

Sir, kindly pay the calculated amount to the above account.

Sir, don't be too angry with me, I only asked for my money.

Thank you sir and God bless you.
