I'm not typing this to undermine their effort but what is the big deal na? We are a family of first class in my house as well.
My dad made first class from the University of Port Harcourt, my mum made hers at University of Lagos, my elder sister made a first class at Covenant University and I made first class as well at University of Port Harcourt just like my father.
If not for that bastard Omo ale Jati Jati Kabiru that spoilt our record by making third class consecutively in two different schools, our long time record would have still been intact.

On average seeing 0.8kg - 1.2kg... though the harvest is still ongoing... Sorting was a bit of a challenge cos of the 2 faulty ponds i have. In addition, i had some hitches during the culture period... feed availability and water quality management issues that i am to address in the next run.

That's impressive. What's the average size of your fishes after the 5 months period

Currently, I have 6 ponds. Only 4 are operational... put in a shy above 10k juveniles in each...

@hisableplc...Yea... 35,000kg (its an approximate number) actually commenced with 42,000 juveniles... trying to be conservative about the outcome and accommodate variation in fish sizes.

End of day 2... sold 645kg...

Hello all, hope the farms are coming along fine... Sorry to hear about the loss... I Pray you get better outcome in the subsequent run.... As an update, I started selling my fish today.... Sold 291kg.... (367 fish) on average they are about. 0.8kg. On month 5..... Don't want to wait no more.....

Right now I don't even know the exact sales of a kg. As everyone is selling at a different price based on location.. At 4 month a fish should be weighing nothing less than 0.7 grm on the average.

it is cos of posts like this that ppl like me wont dare go to warri for anything. see as the donts full everywhere

boss, addition question for you please. what is the price of catfishes averaging 700g and what's the expected average size of 4 months old fish?

i hope to have an inverter that will power 1 fridge, 1 home theatre, 1 flat screen, a 2HP AC, a 1 HP AC and 1 laptop for atleast 10 hours.

what would be the cost involved ?

Sorry for ur loss boss. .. Always try to have about two people with u wen selling. One person will monitor the scale and record, and the other person is to do general monitoring of wats going on around. Fish buyers steal fish alot. Sometimes dey can steal two baffs of fish frm you and u wont notice unless someone is there to catch dem. It has happenes to me and dey stole a full 35kg baff. They always steal anytime they come to buy so be vigilant.

I think where robonski and other experienced fish farmers can help is giving an idea of growth via an average periodic analysis such that when you are off the mark you know there is something wrong and if you do better you can come tell us how you were able to manage the feat.

I suggest a simple record keeping analysis of "AGE; AVE. SIZE; AVE. FEED CONSUMPTION" across a six month period on a month by month basis.

enof with the reminiscing and soliloquizing. many of these ladies had good suitors come along when they were younger. either, they wanted to face their studies, thought it was just too early to marry, or they wanna play around a bit, held on to the yahoo boys or were too spiritual or they thought he wasn't handsome or rich enof to be their man. EVERY WOMAN (cos 30 don pass lady) of 30 years cannot deny that a good guy came around once upon a time. the question is what did they do about it?

just seeing your post. guess i missed out on this one. so when is the next conference and Thailand training ?

lesson learned. point taken. it happens in business. you win some you lose some. just make sure your losses are minimal and few while the gains are prevalent and significant.

With a grief heart I wana announce that johneeyessence sold his fish at a loss, I tried to ask what went wrong because I personally monitored the fishes. He sold the fishes for #480 per kg and made #84,000 from 500 fishes and the lowest fish was around 600grms and the highest weighed upto 2.2kg. So how come the loss??

What I deduce is that the buyer played a fast game on him by using their own scale to weigh the fishes thereby cheating him on the weight of the fishes, he had his own scale but allowed the buyers to use theirs..There is no how those fishes I saw would weigh 300grms that will warrant a sale of #84k . Lets say the fishes weighed 300grms that means they are mélange and no buyer will want to buy mélange for #480 per kg presently.

I am so pained because after 5 months of nurturing them with his time and hard earned money, some dubious scalawag will still cheat him off his profit. The deed has been done all we can do is to encourage him, and learn from the mistake.

As a fish farmer during harvest NEVER allow the buyers use their own scale for weighing.
