WITCHES, WIZARDS AND WITCHCRAFT
Unlike Harry Potter, those suspected of witchcraft will most likely be killed or may be asked to kill others, for a little payment of course.

A lot of Nigerians believe that witches hold meeting every night, planning how to ruin the lives of others and when they’re done with their nightly meetings they fly around for sometime, carrying out some evil acts, like murder and stealing of properties.

Of course, it is said that if any of your pictures, or properties are missing, a witch has carried it away to make sacrifices with.

One of the most popular ways people believe you can become a citizen of the night, is to eat in your dreams, no matter what, as long as your eating, especially eggs, meat and sweets, you are being initiated.

Most people believe that only prayers can ward them off, and others? Well they believe that creating their own coven is the only way to help protect yourself.

lalasticlala abeg help me push it to the relevant section, had to post this here.
Thanks

THE INEDIBLE FISH
There is a river in Kogi state which is said to be cursed, and if you catch a fish from there,
no matter how much you try to cook it, it will always remain raw.

Plus if you ever get injured by the bone of any fish in that river, the injury will never heal.

MADAM KOI KOI (THE WOMAN IN RED)
Madam koi koi is the most popular story told to all boarding school students.

One of the versions of madam koi koi goes like this:

A long time ago, there was a teacher who loved the colour red, from head to toe this is all she ever wears, she was also a wicked woman who had a son.
Now, one day the children who she taught had enough of her, carrying her son, they beat him to the point of death, in the rush and struggle to save her son, she lost one leg of her shoes, angry with what had happened, she vowed to take revenge on those who killed her son.

To this day she walks the earth, looking for her son and lost shoe. She can enter rooms in the night, and if you ever hear her telltale sound, koi koi koi, you immediately close your eyes and don’t open them until the sound of her heel cannot be heard again. Unless? Well, death is all that awaits you.

MAMMY WATER

This is a river goddess who is described as a beautiful and graceful being, a woman who is half human and half fish, a mermaid in short.
Unlike the little mermaid though, this goddess is not a doe eyed princess looking for her true love, instead she’s out for an easy slave to carry back to her watery kingdom to serve her and her sisters for as long as they wish.

Another belief is that, if you find one brushing her hair by the beach at night, she will swim away and leave her comb behind, if you pick up this comb, she will appear to you in your dreams asking for it back, in exchange for money, any amount you want. No sex, where would you even put anything?

With all these, she is actually revered by some cultures.

THE DEVILS’ MUSIC
Have you ever found yourself just randomly dancing to nothing, but just dancing, happy with what your doing, well be careful and try to remember where you kept your shoes.
One of the lesser known myths, the devils’ music goes like this.

If you scatter your shoes in the night before going to bed, when you wake up, your shoes will be beside your bed, if you put on those shoes you just might find yourself dancing to hell.

There’s honestly no way to know if your shoes have satanic dancing powers, all you have working for you is to try and remember where you kept them the night before.

BUSH BABIES

No matter how strong or brave you are, noises in the night can make anyone jump, especially if its the sound of a crying baby but before you run to help that baby, make sure it isn’t a bush baby.

The bush baby is a myth used to scare boarding school students into minding their business and staying indoors in the night.

The story goes like this:

"On a calm night, with the wind at a minimum, when your almost at that point of sweet sleep, you will hear crying from outside. It will sound like a baby or a toddler crying, sometimes the kid will be calling for help, now you being the good Samaritan goes outside to help the little one, just as you reach the kid, he looks up at you with red eyes and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth, you will never be seen again.

Some say, they kill and eat you right there, while others say they drag you down to hell."

The moral of this story? Stay in bed and mind your own business.

JINN
The jinn is said to have an Islamic background, mostly popular in boarding schools that have a majority of Muslims, that fact does not make them any less scary.
No one is sure what they look like, but it is agreed that they are very small and sometimes invincible, but one thing that is believed is that they are mean killing machines, especially if you step on their house or children or pour water on them, and no you can’t apologise, because you wouldn’t even know that you did anything.

It is believed that anthills are their homes, and so the warning goes that you should never destroy an anthill.

Culture10 Most Bizarre Nigerian Myths (photos) by JAZES(op): 2:18pm On Dec 04, 2015
Lets face it, when it comes to Africa, what most people think of is the corruption, kidnappings, poverty.

What a lot of people don’t know about though, are the superstitions, myths and legends that have to do with Africa itself.

WHISTLING AT NIGHT
Some people enjoy whistling, making music without singing and just your lips, perfect for those who cant sing.

In some parts of Nigeria though, you must not whistle at night, Because you will wake the dead,
who will whistle back at you and just may escort you back to their graves, its not a matter of question, they WILL take you.

Another belief is that you will be calling snakes to you, no you won’t be able to control them.

THE BEAUTIFUL PLAITS
The story of this folklore is commonly told in Nigerian boarding schools, now take note that in most Nigerian schools,
girls must have their hair in plaits/cornrows.
Anyway the story goes like this;
"In this very school, some time ago, there was a girl whose hair was the finest, it was always beautifully made and very neat, but when asked who made her hair, the girl would reply and say it was a very shy and quiet friend of hers, well people got tired of asking and dropped the subject.

Until one night, one of her roommates woke up and let out a scream, there was the girl headless, plaiting her own head."

PREGNANT WOMEN
Most cultures and tribes have their own rules and beliefs when it comes to pregnant women. Nigerians are no different.
In some cultures, like the Ijaw and Yorubas, a pregnant woman is not allowed to see a masquerade because they believe that the baby will look like a masquerade when it is born.

Also in some places, when a pregnant woman is sitting with her legs out, you must not cross her legs, the reason? The baby might look like you or bad luck will follow the child.

Celebrities“how My Daughter Was Murdered In India” – Mum Shares Very Sad Story by JAZES(op):
Chinenye’s mum shares her sad story below:

The prayer of every mother is to train her child and in turn the child trains her when she’s old. That was not to be my case as I watched my little Chineye who had just graduated a month ago dies in my arms owing to the negligence and wickedness of the Indian doctors of Fortis Hospital, New Delhi, India.

Chineye had just graduated from University of Abuja and was preparing for her NYSC but the family had decided that rather than just sit at home before her NYSC call-up, its best she corrects her right limb which was severely shortened after a fall in 2001.

Following the fall in which she broke her femur (thigh bone) she had a surgery which involved the insertation of k-nail (iron) to support the bone. The iron eventually broke into two and a surgery was necessitated to remove the 2 piece of broken iron and correct the short limb that was causing her a lot of pains. . Little did I know that the Indian doctors had planned to kill my dear Chineye or how else should I put it?

After the surgery in India, Chineye was upset, when I asked her why, she raised her fears over the surgery, Dr Gupta the senior consultant removed only one piece of the 2 pieces of previously broken iron in her limb as opposed to the earlier agreement that the two pieces will be removed before conducting the limb lengthening surgery.

When she complained, he assured her that everything will be fine. Shortly after she was discharged, she noticed that the lengthening screw was stiff and complained immediately to the doctors but they informed her that they were looking for the right size of iron for her height.

After 3 days she was forced to go to the hospital. She walked to the dressing room and two other doctors began to attend to her because Dr Gupta was not in the hospital. While they were changing the screw she gasped and suddenly lost consciousness on the dressing table; the doctors wheeled her into the emergency room. Less than an hour after she was wheeled into the dressing room, I was informed that my daughter was dead, I was shocked, I could not believe my ears,I felt the world had come to an end, even in my state of shock the best, the hospital could do was to demand for an additional payment from me as cost of trying to revive Chineye.
When I walked into the room where she laid, I discovered they had already stuffed near nostrils with cotton wool while her body was still very warm, I immediately begged and cried helplessly that they should try to revive her but they heartlessly told me that there was nothing they could do that she had died and had planned to convey her to the mortuary at the time.

Due to my insistence the transport to the hospital was delayed by another two hours during which they blatantly refused to administer any more procedure to revive her.

Dr Gupta latter arrived and told me she died of severe heart attack. Signs of negligence are evident in the preparedness of the surgery, as the first day she was wheeled into the theatre for the surgery it was cancelled and rescheduled because the iron was not the right size for her height even though she has done several physical consultations with Dr Gupta.

Secondly, a review of her medical records reveals that there was no blood thinning medication was prescribed which is necessary for this kind of surgery
Thirdly, even after the surgery the doctors were still looking for the right size of iron. Fourthly, only one piece of the previously broken iron was removed. Finally, there was no willingness to revive her and they did not show any value for life in the urgency and recklessness with which they declared her dead and hurried her to the mortuary. Since her death Fortis Hospital New Delhi has issued several conflicting statements on the cause of her death which only confirms my fears that Chineye was murdered.

They have refused to release the autopsy result and they still claim to be investigating the cause of death. I have been crying since the 9th of October, 2015.

My heart bleeds and I know Chineye’s soul seeks for justice. I speak as a mother who deserves to know the cause of her daughter’s death. I need the support of every Nigerian in this fight against this murderous act, injustice, oppression and wickedness.

I am helpless but I believe that with God on my side and with the support of Nigerians and the international community by sharing this story until it gets to the relevant authorities, the killers of my daughter will not escape judgement. I have spoken to a couple of Nigerians that have also had unpalatable experiences in their search for medical aid in India.

Many have lost their loved ones and refused to share their story. I have decided to share this story to save more potential lives that will be lost due to medical negligence in Fortis Hospital and create awareness.

Fortis currently has a branch in Abuja, Nigeria. Fortis why did you kill Chineye?

Celebrities“I Once Slept Under The Bridge”-ramsey Nouah Shares His Rags To Riches Story by JAZES(op): 7:43am On Dec 03, 2015
Handsome Nollywood Actor – Ramsey Nouah is opening up for the first time about the struggles he faced growing up
and how that has helped shape him into the man he is today.

The 44-year-old husband and father of 3 shared how he used to live on the streets
and sleep in a tiny store that could only take one mat with his mother.

He shared his story:

Those were the times when things got really bad for my mother and I and we had nothing.
It was so bad that we didn’t have a home to live in. We had to stay in a store, one that could take only one mat.
My mother and I squeezed ourselves in that mat. We didn’t even have a cup to drink water,
talk more of a stove to cook on. My mother had to borrow, beg and stuff like that.
Those moments, those terrible moments we had nothing and we were living off people.
People were just helping us out. There were times we didn’t have food to eat three or four days.
You haven’t eaten and your stomach is rumbling but you don’t have any place to go.
There was a time I lived on the streets, in shops. There was a time I slept under the bridge.
It was unfortunate that there were no records so that we can have memories we could play back now.
To me, I am so extremely grateful that I went through it. At that time, I hated everybody around me.
In fact, I used to question why God was doing this to me. But I think God knew that I needed this for my future

These were moments when I was young. I didn’t realize the gravity of the poverty we were in.
I couldn’t tell, but it was good orientation for me. Those were moments when I thank God for making me pass through,
because they have sustained and helped me even as an actor.
The ability to deliver all the roles they give me comes from having tasted both sides of the coin.

PoliticsWe Know Those Behind The Friday’s Bomb Blast In Kano- Leader Of The Islamic Move by JAZES(op): 1:45pm On Dec 02, 2015
Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, says that the association is
aware of those that are behind last week’s bomb blast in Kano during a Muslim procession at Dakasoye village in Kano last week.
Zakzaky said this while speaking at the end of Nahjul Balagha study session
held at Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, Zaria on Monday November 30th.
“We know the names of the contractors and those contracted to commit the massacre; their identities are not hidden. Therefore, we cannot be cowed by an imaginary Boko Haram tale; let them tell it to the fools and ignorant.
They should know that they are dealing with people with foresight, wisdom and intelligence, and above all, the real religion. I refute the claim on the Kano Friday attack as the attack was manipulated to make the public believe that certain faceless group named Boko Haram were behind it. There is nothing like a suicide bomber; they tortured and drugged unsuspecting captives and made them carry the explosives which they detonated. The announcement by the Department of State Service (DSS) that there would be attacks on mosques and churches by female insurgents has given them away; how did they know about it and where it will happen? It clearly means they are accomplices to the atrocity. The perpetrators of Kano bomb attack were the same people that seven years ago in broad daylight attacked Ashura procession and killed people in Potiskum. They also killed 34 people during Quds Day procession in Zaria in 2014. In most cases, these killers carry out the offensive under the watchful eyes of security operatives, sometimes escorted by tinted glass vehicles. Last year, bombs were buried along routes of the trek, while similar episode was planned to be repeated this time around. The mass massacre of Muslims has become a vogue across the world. Who is carrying out senseless killings in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon? They are the same people carrying out attacks here and we know them and we cannot be cowed.”he said

Highlights: One of the undoubted achievements of Robert Mugabe’s 20 years in power is the expansion of education.

Zimbabwe has the highest literacy rate in Africa at 85% of the population. He’s under fire for seizing and redistributing fertile farmlands owned by white men in Zimbabwe who used black Zimbabweans for labor while the Zimbabwean farmers farmed on soil-less farms.

Mugabe asked the white men “how many blacks have a huge farmland in Britain?”.
