just have your doc correspondence, write to embassy to get the generic reply and have enough funds to show proof that you can foot d bills and believe in God for d rest.

EventsRe: Top 5 Craziest Moments Witnessed At A Wedding by JAZES(m): 4:08am On Sep 14, 2017
hazureal:
Almost at the wedding venue (church) when I met a colleague driving out with his family.
Me: ah! Has the "show" ended? Where to?
Him (looking very sad) : No, they've not even started.
Me (alarmed at the look on his face) : ki lo sele? What's going on? Is everything OK?
Him: hmmm. It's like the wedding has been postponed. Get in the car, let me drop you off.
At that point, my amebo senses sharpened and I asked him if anyone was still at the venue. He said yes and I declined the "free ride" back home.
I hastened my steps and when I got to the venue, I saw people wearing sad faces (some hissing annoyingly).
What went wrong? The church where the wedding was to hold was under lock and key and No official was in sight.
After asking around and no one was willing to talk, I went to meet the heavily pregnant bride who was at the time, sitting in the car and looking as if nothing was wrong (that babe get mind sha). I saw her grandpa sitting beside her and I greeted them both. It seemed strange to me that it was only her grandpa with her and he was wearing suit. When I looked closer, I noticed that grandpa was wearing gloves too. Well, maybe na new style, I looked away from grandpa and asked the bride what was going on and she told me that the church wedding won't hold again, that it they will just do reception.
Me: haba! Reception ke? Oko yin nko? (where's the groom?)
Her : awon naa ni won joko si bi yii (he's the one seated beside me.
I opened my mouth and for a few seconds, I could not form any words.
It turned out that she was getting married to a very old man (old enough to be her father) and this man was still legally married to another woman. The church got wind of this and decided not to be involved.
Come and see as food wasted that day. People were too embarrassed to even eat. Did I eat? Yes (I didn't even know that the MC saw me and he kept calling me "onijekuje" weeks later).
Aside the fact that this is d most hilarious comment on this thread i also think you
should start writing comic magazine or something. I love your writing style.....Kudos

Please this is my first time of posting. Am not pregnant nor planning to go to US anytime soon.
However, i was wondering if you went for the visa interview with all your family? What was the tie back home? Because I have been reading on this thread that one has to have a strong tie back in Nigeria before one can be given Visa.
Will appreciate your response. Thank you Sir

Hmm ....JFK kwa don dey act James bond. This shows that any POE can decide to act otherwise. This tells us that no matter your POE, just be prepared. I wish your Wifey safe delivery.
I tell u o, as much as it is very important to be prepared pls also know they can ask you any question,
someone told me that had i said i know about female circumcision and that i support it cos i believe nothing is wrong with it,
that they would have put us on the next available flight to naija. Considering the fact that my kids are female that they
will assume that we have circumcised them- i dont know how true this assertion is though cos i dont know what female cir
cumcision has to do with police officers and why they are even asking the questions in the first place.

to say this thread has been helpful to my journey with my family is an understatement.
This has to be the most educative and informative thread on nairaland in my own opinion....... smiley smiley smiley

Let me quickly share my poe experience:

As soon as we landed @ jfk on 29th Aug, 3 police officers walk up to us:
Officers: Hello
Me: Hello
Officers: What are u guys here for? (for my mind i dey think say una no go
even let us enter first?)
Me : Vacation and my wife is here to give birth
Officers: Oh your wife is pregnant?
Me: Yes she is
Officers: thats cool- what do u know about female circumcision?
Me: I told them what i know about it in my own little understanding
and my wife also did the same
Officers: Are u in support of it?
Me : Support ke? No o ( At this point i come ask them if they
are the immigration officers cos we have not even scanned our passport yet)
Officers: they quickly say no that they are just doing a survey on female circumcision
Me: I said oh ok

Meanwhile , why they are asking us questions the other lady who is one of the officers (by the
way all of them are ladies) was taking down note from my response like say they one write jamb exams.
Anyways, to cut the long story short, they led us to another officer who now started another round of
questions and ask to see our correspondence with d doctor and ask how much we have on us- the officer
later said we should proceed to the immigration that he is sure they will let us in.

As soon as we got there, they ask me to submit my passport and that of my family. I was taken to another room
for another round of questions while my wife and kids stayed outside.

I was kept on the waiting list with other folks for close to 2hrs b4 i was called in, they asked the same questions the ladies asked me
and some of the ones they asked when we went for d interview in Lagos.

Long story short, i was eventually stamped in for 6months and surprisingly when i stepped outside,
my wife told me they have already stamped her passport and that of the kids at the point they took
me inside. That they immediately handed her d passports and that of the kids and ask her to go wait for me.

In all, i just want to say thank u to everyone who has contributed to this thread and share their
wealth of knowledge with us all- i hope that my own experience will inspire others who are aspiring to go
on this journey too.
Cheers

Christianity EtcRe: The Rapture Of The Church - Ron Graham by JAZES(m): 10:13pm On Jul 16, 2017
LaconicINC:
There is nothing like once saved, forever saved, work out your salvation, many are called, few are chosen
If you have to work out your salvation, then why do u have to believe in the gospel?

The work of salvation is eternal and the man that believes the gospel ( the death, burial and resurrection of christ)
is saved forever like it or not.

Now lets look @ that verse of the bible you quoted: Phil 2: 12

12Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence,
but now even more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.

Just like the writer quoted above- most folks are taught wrongly cos they dont know how to study the bible.
You need to read the book of philippians contextually to fully understand that Paul was not telling people "to work for their salvation"
and he even answers the verse in the verse that follows in verse 13:

13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.… He simply said it is only God that works in us to do.

Scripture everywhere teaches that we are saved not by our works but by grace through faith in Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Having said that, the keeping of the work of salvation is only done by God no more and thats why Paul emphasized the fact " it is God who works in us.

Heb 9: 12 is very clear- redemption is eternal:

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Infact in verse 11 he referred to christ has our high priest:

11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle,
not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

And as d mediator of the new convenant, our inheritance is eternal ( the word inheritance used here is not
material things o)- It means the work which christ has done which we have received when we believe is our inheritance and that
inheritance which is salvation is eternal.

Heb 10: 15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death,
for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament,
they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

The work that God did for us in Christ is an eternal work cos he only did it once and for all:

Heb 10: 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

We have been sanctified once and for all.

Jesus only offered one sacrifice for sin and he did it once:

Heb 10: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Our perfection as belivers is for ever:

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

We have been saved once and for ever cos the work of salvation is God's work and your inadequacies cant stop
that work. Praise God
