How long do I have to have held the required funds in my account?

You need to have had the required funds in your account for a consecutive 28 day period ending no more than 31 days before the date of your application.

For example, if your 'date of application' (this is the date you pay for the Tier 4 visa application fees online) is 28 July, you must have funds held from 1 July - 28 July, if your bank statement is printed on 28 July. However, if your bank statement is printed on or states a closing balance date of 20 July (this is acceptable because it is within 31 days of 28 July), then your bank statement should cover the period with the required amount of funds held from 23 June to 20 July.

How recent does my bank statement need to be?

Your bank statement must be dated within 31 days of the date of your application (the date that the application fee payment is made).

If you bank statement is dated after the 'date of application', the caseworker will only consider funds held for 28 days up to the 'date of application'. For example, if your 'date of application' is 1 September but your bank statement is printed on 10 September which is also the closing balance date, the caseworker will look at whether you have held the required funds for 28 consecutive days from 5 August to 1 September.

Ok thank you very much I have one I printed a week to my application and the balance is double of what I need and it meets with the 28days rules I think I should stick to that because the other one is within the range but it was printed a day after my application. Wish me luck everyone. Almighty God please take charge.

If you have the cash, use super priority.if not just use priority and inform your school about the delay

Na all for now o. Did my interview last week Tuesday, I don join waiting game o. It's usually 5days but it's peak period, lots of applications are been processed. So priority can take up to 20days now. Let's hope for 10-18days

I have the same time line. Did my biometrics on 17th and got sheffield email on 18th. Used priority. I called UKVI yesterday and they said my application is still awaiting decision that I should give them 15 working days. My school is to resume on d 13th of this month.

for priority? Maximum I have seen is 18days, least here is 9days

Hello House, Please i need advice on what to do here. Your response will be highly needed as am about to apply for my visa next week. My school resumes on the 18th of sept. i deposited my maintenance fee on the 7th of august 2017 with a week earlier planned exchange rate of 459 naira to a pound. Although as at the 7th of september the exchange rate was 470 naira to a pound(oanda.com). Right now the exchange rate is 462 naira to a pound. IS it safe to apply for the visa next week, lets say wednesday or thursday with the explanations given

Just checked. My application reference number is still unrecognized on the UKVI beta tracking site.


Expecting decision mail and collection from mid-next week. TLS will be closed on Monday and Tuesday next week from earlier posts on this forum, but not for the UKVI. So from Wednesday. . .

@Jblade.. The right would be Faith and not safe. Have faith that all will be well. Be positive. But if he really wanna use the word safe? Safe is going by the rules which says hold the required cash for 28 days before application not the other way round. Becos after ur successful online application the ECO would count 28 days bacward on ur statement to see if the required money is available and didnt drop below what was required. Becos those people are looking for amy little mistake and we shouldn't give them such. You should have just waited one more day and be on the safe zone. That is print account on 29th and application too on 29th. But I believe all will be well bro

@RemMag.. That's an expensive error for an ECO to make. Something is wrong some where. Probably your 28days count wasn't complete before you printed out the statement of account or you did your online application during the 28 days count or maybe the required cash dropped during the 28 days count. That's all I can think of.

You can even apply online during the 28days count and choose a later day for interview after which the 28days count is completed
