(AGI) Abuja - Pledging peace before Ramadan, Nigeria's National Security Advisor, Sambo Dasuki, visits Damaturu and Maiduguri. Defying Boko Haram's hold on the two north Nigerian cities, the President's freshly appointed security advisor kicked off his 2-day visit with a strong message, submitting "Head of State Goodluck Jonathan is vowing to restore peace and normality prior to Ramadan's start," in three weeks' time. Recently published Nigerian government reports hold Boko Haram responsible for the deaths of 1,600 people since 2009. . . http://www.agi.it/english-version/world/elenco-notizie/201206291508-pol-ren1049-nigerian_security_s_dasuki_vows_to_pacify_north_in_3_weeks |

Abiola: UNILAG students drag FG to court Ten students of the University of Lagos on Monday filed a suit against the Federal Government for changing the institution’s name to Moshood Abiola University. The students sought an order of the court declaring that the announcement made by President Goodluck Jonathan on May 29, changing the name, was unconstitutional. The News Agency of Nigeria reports the students want the court to declare that UNILAG, being a creation of an Act of the National Assembly, cannot be changed except in accordance with the University of Lagos Act, 1967. The plaintiffs also want a declaration that the power to change the university’s name belonged to the National Assembly. ``The question for determination is whether the president, in the exercise of his executive powers, can unilaterally change the name of the university,’’ the students asked. The students also filed an ex-parte motion urging the court to grant them leave to serve the originating summons to the defendant in Abuja. They contended that by virtue of the defendant not been within the jurisdiction of the court, permission of the court must be sought before service of the processes could be effected on the defendant. No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news-update/48985-abiola-unilag-students-drag-fg-to-court.html |

There Is Plot To Sack Buhari From CPC, Says Buba Galadima https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news-page-images-480-wide/page_images/news/2012/buhari_muhammadu_0.jpg The Secretary of Congress for Progress Change (CPC), Engr. Buba Galadima said tonight in Abuja that the party has unraveled plans by those challenging the present leadership of the party to sack General Muhammadu Buhari. The secretary stated that a major plan in that direction was being advanced by the opposing group, which is led by Alhaji Abubakar Hayatu. According to Galadima “They are technically planning to sack Buhari from the party, and we will not allow that to happen. We know where they are coming from, they have been sent and paid to destabilise the party.” CPC has been experiencing some internal turbulence in recent times, with the National Executive Committee “sacked” by a faction and a factional leader installed. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/there-plot-sack-buhari-cpc-says-buba-galadima |
