PoliticsJonathan Cannot Wib 2015 Election - Asari Dokubo by jenbost(op): 11:37pm On Oct 20, 2014
BREAKING NEWS NIGERIA !! President Jonathan
Cannot Win In 2015 - Dokubo Asari One of the
biggest supporters and kinsman of President
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Alhaji Mujahid
Dokubo Asari, has declared that the president
has lost the support of his political base, the
South-south and the South-East owing to the
failure of his government to deliver on its
promises. Dokubo-Asari, at a press conference
in Abuja on Friday, said that it would be tough
for Jonathan to win the presidential election in
2015 if he decides to run based on the poor
showing of his administration. He said that his
decision to speak out was for him and others
who are ardent supporters of Jonathan not to
be blamed for his failure in 2015. He said: “I
want to start with an Ijaw proverb, which says:
the eyes watched its seven children to death.
Instead of advising them, it was just looking at
them until they died, while the mouth talked
its only child to life and success. “We have
continued as Ijaw people and the entire Niger
Delta and South-South to support the
presidency of President Goodluck Jonathan,
but a time has come when silence cannot be
golden. “We mainly speak out in issues that
are very critical to the survival of our people,
the survival of the people of the South-South
and the South- East, which happens to be the
political base of Goodluck Jonathan. “Jonathan
is surrounded by very greedy people who are
only in the Presidency to enrich themselves at
the expense of Goodluck himself. “This brings
us to another Kalabari proverb, which says:
where there are elders, a goat cannot be
allowed to deliver tied to a stick. “If we don’t
talk and we continue to brush it aside,
tomorrow we will be blamed and people will
say: Mujahid Dokubo-Asari was around when
Goodlcuk Jonathan was president and he didn’t
talk. “Them I will be an accomplice and
accessory after the fact…. “It is alarming
because the South-South must have its
uninterrupted eight years tenure, which is
constitutional. “But with how things are going
under Jonathan’s watch, we are afraid that we
may not be able to have our eight years tenure
because there will be no magic about it if it is
going to be one man one vote.” Dokubo-Asari
said he will continue to speak out despite the
fact that he had benefitted from Jonathan,
adding that one of those causing trouble for
the President remains the Minister of Niger
Delta Affairs, Chief Godsday Orubebe. He said:
“I have benefited immensely from Goodluck
Jonathan with my stake but benefit alone is
not enough to make me to keep quiet when
the period is very challenging for our people.
“So, some of us are tempted to ask this
question: why are all these things happening?
“Why has the President allow some ministers
like Godsday Orubebe to continue in
government? “Everyday people die on the East-
West Road. “If Orubebe is incompetent as he
has shown himself to be, he should be
removed. “Nobody voted for Orubebe. “And
why is Orubebe so important to the President
that he can’t remove him even in the face of
his obvious incompetence and several
allegation to corruption? “We feel very
ashamed and embarrassed. “Orubebe was one
of us. “He was attending meetings with us,
sleeping in the ground with us, entering night
bus with us and we nominated him to be
appointed a minister. “We have gone to him
and complained to him that we don’t like they
way things are going in his ministry and told
him that if the President leaves in 2015
without the completion of the East-West Road,
we are finished. “And the man keeps telling us
there is no money. “When IBB (former military
President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida) was
there, there was money. “When Abacha was
there, there was money. “When others were
there, there was money. “How come the
money disappeared when Jonathan got there?
“Jonathan and orubebe will account for the
death in the East-West Road.” On the face-off
between Jonathan and former President
Olusegun Obasanjo, Dokubo-Asari said there
was no need for it. He said that no matter
what Jonathan feels, he still remains a
beneficiary of Obasanjo’s large heartedness.
He said: “First, there was no need for
Goodluck Jonathan to disagree with Olusegun
Obasanjo. “I don’t like Obasanjo. “I don’t like
his face. “I hate him. “But he was instrumental
in bringing Goodluck Jonathan to power. “And
the greedy people around Jonathan have not
managed him enough to the extent that the
President and people around him will allow
Jonathan to disagree with Obasanjo openly
“And if you check, all the people who
supported Goodluck Jonathan and fought to
bring him to power, have openly disagreed
with him. “What was the cause of these
disagreements? “These are the questions we
want to put to the president. “Some people say
Obasanjo is manipulating Goodluck Jonathan,
that is why Jonathan is disagreeing with him
and we ask: what has Goodluck Jonathan’s
government achieved to show that it is a
departure from other governments that have
existed since 1956? “For us, nothing has
changed. “It is still business as usual. “So what
are the advice that Obasanjo gave to Jonathan
that were so difficult for him to fulfill, that
made him decide to fall out with Obasanjo?
“Obasanjo was instrumental and manipulated
the process that illegally removed Diepreye
Alamieyeseigha as governor of Bayelsa State
and installed Jonathan as governor, made him
vice president, fought for him to become
acting president and also fought for him to
become president of Nigeria. “Apart from
Obasanjo, there are so many people who
supported Goodluck Jonathan, some have been
pushed out by those who were not there to
give him any support, while some others are
trapped and they cannot talk. I have a feeling
that Fulani man Buhari would have done more
for Niger-delta than Jonathan has done so far
Jonathan has done nothing for Niger Delta
actually. It is getting more and more difficult
to support him, the second niger bridge is
another issue. Even his allies are denouncing
him. What a shame!

it is unfortunate that the federal government is toying with the lives of these young and brilliant military officers sent on a journey of no return.
I want to believe that the clueless kindergarten president is not capable to rule this country.
before the yobe incident, there was no armor tank in the minibarack and the soldiers were not supplied bullets.
most of them carry empty guns. it is sad indeed.
May their souls rest in peace and I am using this opportunity to call all Nigerians to prevail on federal governt to end this emergency rule If we so not want to loose more of our soldiers or supply more sophisticated ammunitions.

Romance8,000 Zamfara Women Protest Over Scarcity Of Husbands by jenbost(op): 10:04pm On Sep 26, 2013
No fewer than 8,000 women on
Thursday matched to the Zamfara
Hisbah Commission, seeking the
state government’s assistance to
enable them to get married.
Led by the Chairperson of the
Zamfara Widows Association,
Hajiya Suwaiba Isa, and the patron,
Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe, the women
said they were not living a normal
life and needed husbands to
become whole.
“Many of us cannot afford two
meals in a day because there are
no men to support us,” they said.
The patron said the association had
over 8,000 women, comprising
5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows,
1,200 orphans and 80 others,
whom he said, were looking for
men to marry.
He said the women also needed
assistance to purchase household
items such as beds, mattresses and
other basic necessities needed to
move to their husbands’ houses.
Goshe appealed to the commission
to assist the association in
screening suitors for the women.
He said the screening would
determine the suitors’ health
status, source of livelihood and
ability to maintain a family.

PoliticsDont Contest In 2015, Baraje Tells Jonathan by jenbost(op): 10:09pm On Sep 25, 2013
The Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje faction of the
ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
yesterday reminded President Goodluck
Jonathan of his alleged statement made in
Ankara, Turkey two years ago that he would
not go for a second term. Baraje, therefore,
advised the President to shelve his plan to run
in 2015.
Baraje quoted the President as speaking to
Nigerian professionals and diplomats working
in the United Nations Economic Commission
for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU)
in Turkey then.
Alhaji Baraje’s warning was the highlight of his
reaction to our report yesterday in which
President Jonathan addressed Nigerian
professionals in New York, United States on
Sunday. The President said the constitution
allows him two terms of eight years.
According to Jonathan, “ already, we have a
constitution that makes provision for a
maximum of eight years for anyone who wants
to become a president or a governor.”
But Baraje in a statement yesterday expressed
concern over Jonathan’s declaration as he
claimed that his ambition could precipitate
chaos and ultimately, the disintegration of
Nigeria.
“As a patriotic group that cares about the
present and future of our great country and
which wants President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
to succeed, the Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after reviewing
the state of the nation and the pulse of
Nigerians, wishes to advise President Jonathan
to abandon his plan to seek re-election in
2015 as this ambition is not in the best
interest of the country,” he said.
Though he has yet to categorically declare his
intention to run, President Jonathan has given
enough clue that he is working towards doing
so. The latest of such clues came last Sunday in
New York.
“We are worried that Mr. President is intent on
running despite his earlier promise not to do
so and in spite of the wise counsel of well-
meaning Nigerians, including respected elder
statesmen,” he said
Baraje also claimed that Sunday’s declaration
by the President was a volte face as he claimed
that the latter had in 2011 committed himself
to one term.
“In February, 2011 while interacting with
Nigerians and diplomats working in the United
Nations Economic Commission for Africa
(UNECA) and the African Union (AU) in Ankara,
Turkey, President Jonathan clearly stated: “I
would have loved that the Nigerians in
Diaspora vote this year (2011) but to be frank
with you, that is going to be difficult now.
“Presently, the law does not allow voting
outside Nigeria and so, this year, Nigerians in
Diaspora will not vote but I will work towards
it by 2015 even though I will not be running
for election.
“Four years is enough for anyone in power to
make significant improvement and if I can’t
improve on power within this period, it then
means I cannot do anything even if I am there
for the next four years,” Baraje quoted the
President as saying.
But taking on the President, the PDP faction
boss said: “This is a historical fact which Mr.
President himself cannot deny now since he
had two years to deny that statement but never
did so. How does Mr. President want Nigerians
and the entire world to see him for this volte
face? Why can’t he not keep his words as a
man of honour instead of allowing himself to
be misled by selfish advisers to go back on his
words, thereby overheating the polity?
“Mr. President should heed the advice of well-
meaning distinguished personalities such as
constitution expert, Prof. Ben Nwabueze (SAN)
and Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic
Archdiocese of Lagos, His Eminence, Anthony
Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, all of whom have
advised him to correctly read the handwriting
on the wall and stay away from the 2015
presidential race.
“By 2015, President Jonathan would have
served our nation for six solid years. This,
surely, is enough time for him to achieve
whatever he is capable of doing for Nigeria.
What else is he looking for that is making him
desperate to participate in 2015 presidential
election despite warnings that doing so may
spark a chain of events capable of culminating
into the country’s disintegration, thereby
bringing to pass, the predictions of Lord
Lugard that Nigeria as a nation by 2014 may
be history, which was later confirmed by the
USA Think-Tank that Nigeria may disintegrate
by 2015,” Baraje said.
The factional PDP national chairman said that
the 2015 aspiration of the sitting President
was against the provisions of 1999
Constitution.
“Apart from all these, should President
Jonathan contest and win by 2015, it means he
would have spent 10 years in office and will be
sworn in three times as the President of
Nigeria against the provisions of the country’s
constitution.
“We wish to appeal to Mr. President to
abandon this ill-advised move and save our
nation from catastrophe.God has been
merciful to you, Mr. President, lifting you
from being a university teacher to President of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria in so short a
time is something you should be grateful and
be contented with.
“We urge you Mr. President to listen to the
voice of reason and avoid overstretching your
good luck. A word is enough for the wise!”, he
advised.
