have tried that already, didnt work and for my laptop it's F5 to toggle the display |
it worked with a projector, so how do I get it to start functioning back?? How do I get to return the display to the screen of the laptop |
guys, I've gt myself into another trouble. Somebody gave me her system toshiba satellite, then I charged it with my charger. Then when I tried putting it on, it refused to come on. Only d indicator lites came on. It's d same thing the same thing that happens to my laptop when I put it on. But the diff is i did not update the BIOS or do anything to it, just charged it with my charger. And I checked, that charger could be used to charge hers. I removed d batt, press d power button for 30secs and den put it on. Nothing happened what do I do? |
so how I explain the compputer not coming on? Cos I know I didnot do any other thing other than updates the BIOS. And right now I dont know what else to do. |
yes, 3 techs confirmed that the motherboard is bad |
When I put on my laptop, only the indicator lights come on. It doesnt boot. My hard drive doesnt rotate. I cant do anything with it not to talk of reversing it to the old one |
was planning on changingthe motherboard before selling it cos it would have better market value than if i were to sell it as scraps. And do you really think changing it to a different one would make it work? Whot will d market value of the scrap be? And as for the recall, think i have soiled my warranty by taking it to local technitians to look at it when i found out it would be difficult to send it over for repairs. Didnt know it would result in a motherboard fault and compromise the system. |
and when switched on, comes up with a blank screen. Doesnt load or boot dont even feel the hard disk rotating. Just the indicator lites come on. And yes it was overheating before the update. And sometimes would refuse to come on except i allow it to cool for a long time |
@ deji2009, i was told to update by toshiba itself. Had a regular warning from them telling me upgrade to overcoming the heating system. They used this method to know the system that should be recalled. If your upgrade scales through, then you have no problem but if it doesnt, and becomes blank when you put off your system, those r the one's dey were recalling. My laptop is a toshiba satellite, T135. You could check the site and the forums. The laptop is being recalled. And if I knew this before, the upgrade, i wouldnt have done the BIOS upgrade. But I've learnt the hard way and habe to pay the consequences. Wheen i took it to techs later, it was confirmed by 3 diff people dat the motherboard is gone. So rite now, I need another. My problem is the rite place to find such. |
@ zimdrill, u dont seem to get me, i have tried the online and customer care version, nothing worked. They were even advising we take to techs ourselves cos if we wait for them, it would take forever. These are the peopl whoose service centre was close by. What do u now imagine for me that will now have to send it all the way across. Anf besides, rite now, i dont have time for them anymore. I have decided to do it myself, and am planning to go all the way. So many times here I've seen take it to a reliable comp mech and not the road side one's. Now that am asking for such, nobody seems to be giving me such response. |
i went to the US for a competition then a bought the laptop, after using it for about 2 months, d bios had a problem and d system was over heating. The solution was to update my BIOS i did, then the motherboard became bad. It was then i logged in to their site and found out that they were recalling that system. I called their customer care and the only way they could repair it was if isent the system over. As that's the only place the warranty covers. Tried all i could to get them to repair it for me, but didnt get a favourable response. My only option was to do it myself or send it to them. From my calculations, doing it myself would be cheaper and faster. So i chose that option. That is how i got to this phase. Now please can anybody direct me to a good place where i can get it fixed? |
@ zimdrill, there's no harm trying. Besides, the problem i'm having iis a factory problem, the system was recalled, maybe even before i bot it. So by now i expect the corrected one's to be in the market. Besides, i still have to try. Would not just sit here doing nothing. |
nobody know's anygood computer repair centre in lagos where i can change my motherboard? |
thanks anyaways. Does anyone in lagos know any good computer mechanic shop that imports laptop and motherboard? Cos i want to change my motherboard and it's a new computer, so the motherboard is not readidly available in nigeria |
customer service is a waste of time and money. Have gone thru all that trouble before thinking of repairing it in nigeria. This was my last resort. But i mite call them again to see if they can ship another motherboard to replace the damaged one, but from the people i spoke to, i very much doubt it. Dont u know any reliable comp mech dat does shipping of motherboards and laptop? Cos they would have areliable way of getting it and paying for it |
my laptop was under warranty, but I bought it in the US and the warranty only works in the US. So i had to transfer it over dere and get it fixed. That would take too long and cost a lot. If I had someone there, i mite have not got to the option of changing my motherboard. So i had to change it here and undergo the cost and make it quicker. Cossending over will cost a lot and consume a lot of time. My question is do u know any computer repair company who imports such. So when i do meet them, they can import mine and maybe fix it. |
dats my problem cos i've been trying to get one for a while now and it's not been succesful. If i do get from ebay, how then do i get to fix it? And how do i get it from ebay? |
how do u define old? My laptop is a new model and it's barely 3months old. So its nt old. The money i woulduse to get a new one of such specs would be nearly times 3 of the cost of the motherboard. I get all ya points. But i think i would make more money selling it as a whole rather than in parts. So if can change it then it would have more economical value. I was just looking for a trusted place to get the job done. |
@ zimdrill, are u saying u r dat instead of changing my motherboard, i should by a new one? Anyways, let me keep my options open. I still need a good place to change the motherboard |
