Hello Vanpeele

I will appreciate your clarification and opinion on the following.

First, having used both the vertical and horizontal trellis, which will you say is better in terms of helping the cucumber growth. How easy did the vines find their way or you helped the vines to use the horizontal trellis? It's obvious the horizontal trellis is easier and cheaper.

Second, for now, I like Tokyo F1 for everything but wouldn't mind going for a better variety IF there is any. First harvest of Tokyo usually comes at 6weks, but from your video your first harvest Murano was at 7 weeks. Is it a deliberate action or Tokyo matures faster than Murano? How about the yield, which is more productive?
Third, what type of sack gives you the 23 bags in first harvest?

Today is Day 34 and this is what the farm looks like...

They have started fruiting already. Hopefully my first harvest will be on Friday (Day 41) or Saturday (Day 42).

If I am planting cucumber on 3 or 4 hectares of land, which is about 7 or 10 acres. Do you think staking will be necessary? The Northern Cucumber farmers, do they have time for staking?
I wouldn't know if cucumber farmers in the North stake their cucumbers, but note that what you will plant on 3 hectares without trellis will be equivalent to what you plant on 2 hectares with trellis.
I guess by now, you understand ONE of the need for trellis

The plants seem to be doing well (in my opinion tho), so is it really necessary to apply the fertiliser?
And please snap pictures while applying it, wanna see how u re doing it.

Yes they are doing well but will require some more nutrients as they produce fruits. Hence, the need for the fertiliser.

Just seeing your comment. Sorry I didn't take pictures.

Dont say "NO" emphatically because you dont really KNOW!

How can you say spraying the crop that one would eat, with insecticide and fungicide DIRECTLY, does not it?

Are you not aware that some of these x-cide are capable of penetrating the soft tissues of the crop and reside insde th eflesh till consumption by humans?

While l feel your hustle, l think we need to be careful with the use of all these Chemicals on what people will consume.
It may kill the pests but it may also end up "slowly" killing the consumer or at the minimum, induce some disease (Cancer) in them at a later stage in life.

I will suggest you make use of Govt bodies like FIIRO (Oshodi), IITA (Ibadan) and ask questions about which type of Pesticide/Fungicide is safe to use and in what quantity and manner. I am sure they will be more than willing to assist.

Wish you more success in your efforts.

Thank you.

The later part of r post has settled it all. The manner, quantity and type must be considered and I do that.
