EducationJAMB Change Of Course 2015/2016: Get Informed For A Better Decision by Jetson(op): 11:21am On Apr 14, 2015
As JAMB Change of Course and
Institution continues, I have noticed that many
candidates are not really informed about what they
ought to consider before requesting for a JAMB
Change of Course and Institution.

Before considering a change in either your course
of study or the institution you applied for, you ought
to first confirm that your UTME Subject combination
and your O'level result tallies with the required
criteria needed to be admitted to study that
particular course since many institutions have
specific standard requirements for all courses
offered.

I have had cases of candidates who sat for
science-related subjects in JAMB requesting to
change their courses to a management-related
course. There is no way any institution will admit
you into a course that you did not meet the
standard requirement to study.

In view of this, I have created this thread for
candidates to post any challenges or issues they
need clarifications on regarding the 2015 JAMB
Change of course and institution and have other
enlightened Nairalanders that will provide answers
to them to avoid mistakes that could cost you your
admission.

You can also post your UTME score and
subjects, and O'level result if need be as well as the
course or institution you wish to change to for
proper guidance.

I will also like to inform all JAMB candidates, who would want to effect a change in either of any of their
Courses or Institutions, that this service and
procedure ends on 17th April, 2015.

Although I am not sure if there will be any extension in the date but you should do well to ensure you effect
your changes before the above stated date.

Please avoid trying to play smart by waiting to see if
your current school of choice would release cut-off,
before taking a decision to make your changes.

Based on history, schools will not release their
post-UTME cut-off or procedures until the change
of course is over, no matter the extension.

Do your research based on previous post-UTME
cut-offs and information and effect your changes
immediately. Please DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.

Thanks.
EducationWhat Every Candidate Should Consider For 2015/2016 Admission Processing by Jetson(op): 10:55am On Apr 14, 2015
It is quite unfortunate that so many people just want
to get into higher institution but only a few actually
take their time to sort out information that will help
them get admission with ease.

Below are some of the things all jambites should put into consideration:

Subject combination:
Some people often get it wrong
from the very beginning. Jamb allows four subjects
combination for each course, and each course has
its own combination.

Always check the jamb brochure for correct subject combination, otherwise, you will end up sitting for the wrong subject.

Choice course: When choosing a course of study,
several things should be put into consideration, e.g.
what are the ssce requirement, why do i really want
to study this course, does my choice school offer
the course, is my choice school accredited for my
choice course, is my choice school well equipped
for my choice course, etc just to mention a few.

Choice institution: When making choice of institution,
always check to make sure the institution has all
that is required to study your choice course, and
always get information about the institutions ssce,
jamb and post-jamb requirement.

Choice Institution catchment areas: This is one thing
most people actually do not put into consideration.
Each institutions (except federal institutes) have
their areas of consideration for admission.

If your state or LGA is not in a schools area of
consideration for admission, you are most likely not
going to get admitted there.

Choice Department cut-off mark by choice
institution: Scoring 200/180 in your jamb only buys
you a ticket for an institutions post-jamb. Each
department also has their own cut-off mark. And
when you score d exact cut off mark, you are not
certain of admission because there are other
persons who scored higher than the exact cut off
and would be considered for admission first.

Note: You must strive to score high in your post-jamb.

Thanks.

EducationTips To Help You Score High In Your Post UTME Exams by Jetson(op): 10:28am On Apr 14, 2015
Here are tips to help you score high in your post-
UTME exams;

1. Understand the Type of Exams you will be taking:
before you can pass any post-UTME exams, you
will have to understand the nature of the
examination.

Ask these vital questions before the
exams;
-Is the exams computer
based?
-Is it paper and pencil test?
-How are they
setting the question?
-How many questions are my
expected to answer?
-What type of questions are my
expecting?
-It it essay type questions? Is it multiple
choice?
This information will enable you to know
how to prepare better for the upcoming examination.

2. Get Past Questions: Getting past questions for
the previous years is a top shot. These past
questions will not only give you insight into the
pattern of the exams but it will help you to
brainstorm while practicing it and predict the
possible questions you are expecting. If you don’t
have any, go now and get one from your school of
choice and start practicing it.

3. Read Consistently : Of course you chose the path
to study, so reading should not be a hobby anymore
to you. Make consistent reading your culture. Read
well
and read wide.

The secret of above 300 in your Post
UTME Exams lies in reading persistently.

Having
gotten the pattern of the exams, set up a reading
timetable and follow it religiously. Your goal is to get
admission, so you should give priority to it until you
achieve it.

4. Join Extramural Classes. This has proven to to be
a very effective means of scoring high.

5. Arrive at the Exams Venue Early: No matter how
you
prepared for the exams, it will become an absolute
waste of energy if you do not arrive at the exam
venue on time. Arriving early at the exam venue will
give
you the opportunity to be adapted to the
environment, for instance you are travelling to a far
place for your exams. You will also have the
opportunity to be part of the orientation talk with
respect to the exams. If your university of choice is
in another state of very far from your location, I will
advise that you travel a day before the exams.

2. Bring required exam materials: Make sure you go
to the exam hall with all the required exam
materials and avoid going with any other thing that
can implicate you.

3. In the exam hall: What ever that happened and
the expected result depends on what you are doing
in the examination hall.

Below are the basic tips;
(a) Pay attention to instructions : Do exactly what
you are told to do and avoid doing what you are not
told to do.

(b) Prayer Matters: You have to invite your creator
to help you in the exams you are about to take.

(c) Consult the timing of the exams: Check the time
allotted for the exams and compare it with the
number of questions you’re given. This will give you
insight to how much time should be spent on a
particular question.

(d) Use your brain: You have to apply what ever you
read before the exams, aside from that, the time
you spent to read will become totally wasted. Scan
through the options before reading the questions.
Read every question slowly and attempt to answer
it. If you can’t
decipher the correct answer, read it slowly again
and attempt to answer. If you don’t have any
headway, just leave it and go to another one.

(e) Time yourself : Timing in the exam hall is very
paramount. If you are answering 100 questions for
1 hour, you have to calculate it out. There are 60
minutes in 1hour for me to use it and answer 100
questions. That means I have 0.6 minutes to
answer 1 question.
As simple as that. So if you try to answer a
particular question without answer, leave it to
another to same time for other questions. After you
can come back to revisit the questions that you
left behind.

(f) Shade the Correct Answer : This exam is called
aptitude test. It is meant to test your common
reasoning. These are cheap questions. Read each
question carefully and attempt your answer.
Take note, most questions might not have answer
there in the options. “It is aptitude test”

(g) Shade everything correctly : make sure you
shade everything correctly if it is paper and pencil
exams. If you are writing on a computer make sure
you read more about computer based test to have a
flair of the exam situation.

(h) Submit when you are told.

Wish you all success!

for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

• After registering for UI post-utme, you
should print your slip, which bears vital
significance.

UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN(UI) POST-UTME TIPS
An important fact to not for the aspirants
of the University of Ibadan(UI) is that, the
University of Ibadan(UI) utilize both your
WAEC and UTME results in inviting
candidates to sit for their post-utme
examination.

The University of Ibadan(UI), as a tradition,
normally invite very few candidates for
their post-utme examination and as such,
Your jamb figures does not guarantee your
post-utme call up at the University of
Ibadan, as long as you have loop holes in
your O-Level results.

It is also heart warming to note that, if you
are successfully Invited for the University of
Ibadan(UI)’s post-utme examination, and
you made an impressive display of 50%
and above, you have a 95% likely chance of
gaining admission even though, it might
fall in another department. This occurs
when You failed to beat your prefixed
departmental cut-off marks.

MAKING THE UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN(UI)
POST-UTME CALL-UP.
The major problem of most University of
Ibadan(UI) aspirants lies not in passing
their post-utme but in sitting for their post-
utme. In this case, they have to meet up
with their various departmental post-utme
call-up point.

These points are not disclosed until the O-
Level results of various applicants have
been received during post-utme
registration.

The University of Ibadan, decides the call-
up point, the same way in which they
decide an admission Cut-off mark and the
point is released, when the name of
successful candidates invited for post-utme
would be released.

Basically, the invitation call-up point for this
years post-utme has not been revealed and
would only be revealed by the end of post-
utme registration.

CALCULATING YOUR TOTAL MARKS AHEAD OF
UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN(UI) POST-UTME CALL
UP
We would require you aspirants, to do this
Yourself, it is not a difficult process and as
such, you can do it without problems. Just
follow the guidelines below.

1. This is how the University of Ibadan(UI)
calculate their call up point from O’level

O-LEVEL
A1 – 12points
B2 – 10points
B3 – 8points
C4 – 6points
C5 – 4points
C6 – 2point

Which is obtained from Your 5 relevant/
compulsory subjects as related to your
course.

2. This is how the University of Ibadan
calculate their Call up point From
JAMB
Simply divide your UTME score by a factor of
10. Which implies 400/10- 40

3. To obtain the call up points, now add
obtained O-level points above, to the JAMB
points.

4. The result becomes your University of
Ibadan post-utme call up point.

Examples: Assuming i made A1 in my 5
relevant subjects. When i multiply the
individual A1 by 12 and sum them up, i
would obtain 60- (60/60).

If I made 235 in my UTME examination, that
means, 235/10 which equals 23.5.
Lastly, I add my o’level figures to my UTME
figures = my weighted UI call up point. ie
60+23.5=83.5

PoliticsRe: No Going Back On Fayose's Impeachment - APC LAWMAKERS by Jetson: 7:04pm On Apr 06, 2015
[quote
author=achemedez post=32386171]The 19 All Progressives Congress
lawmakers in Ekiti State House of Assembly have said there is no going
back on the impeachment notice issued against Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The embattled Speaker, Dr Adewale Omirin, said the governor cannot run
away from the process because the impeachment notice served on him was a
constitutional matter and contained serious issues of the law.

He said instead of staying in hiding to evade justice, it is better to
live with the reality that the rule of law has come to stay in the
country.

He said this while reacting to media reports credited to the factional
Speaker, Dele Olugbemi, and ‎the governor’s media aide, Lere Olayinka,
dismissing the impeachment notice as a joke.

Omirin in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Wole Olujobi,
said the move was to rescue democracy‎ from the gridlock of executive
lawlessness and impunity into which the state had been driven by the
governor.

He said, “It will soon dawn on Fayose and his aides that the matter at
hand goes beyond exuberant media skirmishes that are being deployed to
rally support for the governor.

“Attention of the world has shifted to Ekiti State following the leaked
tape detailing electoral fraud perpetrated to give Fayose victory. After
that, several issues in Ekiti State are being questioned on the place
of the constitution in nurturing democracy in the country, and as
responsible citizens, we must act right to make democracy work.”

Omirin said all allegations raised in the impeachment notice were
constitutional matters, to which the governor must be rea‎dy to produce
answers instead of “belligerent attitude” in the media in addressing
serious issue of constitutional significance.‎

Advising the governor to respond to the allegations against him, he said
running away from the Government House and using his aides to cover his
track would not help him in defending his assault on the nation’s
constitution and other infractions against the constitution that were
already established against him in courts.

“It is good that his men are talking in the media about the need to
uphold the constitution in this matter even though they behave short of
upholding the constitution in their conduct.

“Even though the governor trampled on the same constitution when he led
thugs to attack judges in court and tore court records in the Chief
Judge’s office, our duty is to follow constitutional path in this
impeachment process.

“These men that are flying the governor’s banner will soon see the law
in action. This impeachment process is real. We must rescue Ekiti State
from lawlessness and fraud. The N1.3 billion poultry project fraud case
is still in court. There are still cases of unresolved murders.

“We have again seen the resumption of state-sponsored terrorism with
thugs attacking and maiming Ekiti people‎ after a break in 2006 when the
governor was impeached for fraud and attacks on opponents.

“We thought his impeachment trauma in 2006 would have thought him a
lesson, but the governor has proved that he cannot survive in a society
where the law works. We advise him to come out of hiding and defend
himself because we are prepared to give him a fair hearing. That is the
reality he must face instead of downplaying se‎rious matter of
constitutional consequences,” the Speaker added.

Pple cry for change without realizing
change started 6 years back. APC and PDP
has their differences buh if we were to be sincere
Jonathan has tried more than former President
before him. The change Nigerians want is a change
without process. The change we desire for is a
change whereby you sleep today and you wake up
tomorrow to notice that the land our parents bought
in the village has become an duplex. IMPOSSIBLE.
Rome they say was never built in a day. Most of the
problem facing Nigeria now were problem inherited.
For me these are reasons why i will vote GEJ.
1. Promotion and practice of true democracy by
creating an
enabling environment where people from diverse
backgrounds and with divergent views and
opinions can be accommodated. Under the
watch of Goodluck Jonathan administration, the
APC was registered by INEC as a mega
opposition party big enough to challenge the
PDP at both state and national levels. This would
be unthinkable some years back.
2. Conduct of free and fair elections in the
country, including the 2011 poll which was
adjudged to be the most credible election of its
magnitude that has ever been conducted in the
country, though it was not without its flaws.
Unlike in other administrations, the Goodluck
Jonathan administration has given a free hand to
the country’s electoral umpire, INEC, to perform
its statutory duties.
3. Relative non-interference with electoral and
judicial matters . This is evident in the number of
governorship elections that have been won both
at the polls and in the court by opposition
parties in Anambra, Imo, Osun states, among
others.
4. Liberalization of the press and guaranteeing
the freedom of
speech in a country where the stifling of the
press and suppression of the citizens’ right to
freedom of speech used to be the norm, a legacy
of over 30 years of military rule. The existence
of vocal anti-government media houses and
critics would have culminated in some high-
profile assassinations some years back, but
today citizens are free to air their views
whenever and wherever they like just like any
other sane country.
5. Opening up of Nigeria to the global business
community and becoming Africa’s number one
destination of foreign investors. In the first six
months of 2014, a total of US$9.70 billion or
N1.51trillion flowed into the national economy as
foreign direct investments (FDI).
6. Under the Goodluck Jonathan administration,
Nigeria rebased it’s GDP for the first time in over
a decade to become the largest economy in
Africa, overtaking South Africa and Egypt in the
process.
7. Proceeds from Nigeria’s non-oil exports rose
to 2.97 billion by the end of 2013, up from 2.3
billion in 2010.
8. Initiation of the YOUWIN program in 2011. The
Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria
(YOUWIN) program aims to generate over
100,000 jobs for innovative unemployed youths
across the country in the course of three years.
It is currently in its third year.
9. Nigerians are now a step closer to being fully
integrated into the international e-commerce
community with the approval and reinclusion of
Nigeria as one of the Paypal-compliant countries
after being banned from using the service at the
peak of the advanced fee fraud (419 scams).
With Paypal, Nigerians can now pay for goods
and services online from anywhere in the world.
10. Goodluck Jonathan administration is the one
behind the revival of the dead automotive
industry in Nigeria. Global auto giants like
Peugeot, Nissan and Hyundai now either
assemble or wholly manufacture small cars,
Sport Utility Vehicles, trucks and buses at
various locations in Nigeria. In addition to that,
Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (IVM),
Nigeria’s flagship indigenous automaker, has
begun the sale of their first made-in-Nigeria cars
and SUVs in August 2014.
11. Under the Goodluck Jonathan administration,
Nigeria became the first country in West Africa
to host the World Economic Forum (WEF) in
2014. It was also the most successful World
Economic Forum for Africa (WEFA) in history,

EducationRe: How to make First Class/Good Grades in Nigerian Universities by Jetson: 10:07am On Mar 16, 2015
gemtech:
1. Be punctual and regular in lectures,
practicals don't miss any, for some courses
attendance carry marks.

2. Take notes extensively both during
lectures and even practicals or even field trips.

3. Don't joke with assignments, tests, term
paper, reports, field trips. Take them very
serious. These small things make up your
continuous assessment even to your GPA

4. Read the notes of every lecture, the day
you had the lecture, no matter how small or big they are.

5. Make sure you cover everything you've
been taught previously in a particular
course before attending the next class.

6. Be smart, you don't have to read a whole
textbook to have first class in Nigerian
university just make sure you give full
attention to school work and watch every
lecturer know what they like and dislike,
obey ALL their instructions.

7.To be frank with you, up to 95% of what
would be set in exams is from your note so
know your note inside-out.

8.Get closer to God, Join a fellowship on
campus, you won't have time for girls,
partying and all these social vices.

If you carry out No. 4,5 and 7 very well you
would just be revising for exams.

#Attitude is everything - Build and ALWAYS
maintain a Positive Attitude - #I can

(Ekundayo)
God is my witness!

Op, well emphasized.
