BLACK MIRROR

This is a show with standalone episodes (meaning not connected in terms of storyline or could be if you look deeper) that provokes personal thoughts and deep-thinking. Minutes after an episode you’re staring at your screen trying to decipher all that you can. Black mirror is a total package of futuristic and sometimes present technological mishaps at the same time reminding us we’re in charge as humans. With 3 seasons, 13 episodes and stories, and an upcoming 4th season, it has proven to be one of the best series on our screen in recent years with its originality.

Available on Netflix in four seasons sharing 19 hour-long episodes.

So guys lets hear your comments...

STRANGER THINGS

as innocent and peaceful as a small town seems on the surface, the disappearance of a little boy uncovers deep secrets that lie within. Dark, humorous and family friendly, you might want to start this one with your family or friends on your next TV hangout. With the second season released last October, there’s definitely nothing stopping you from jumping on the first two seasons as soon as possible. Being an original story (meaning one that has not been adapted from a source or rebooted from an old piece) gives Stranger Things an extra plus and a surprising edge to this Netflix original series. Meaning the story could lead anywhere.

Two seasons in with just 12 episodes shared between them.

THE NIGHT OF

‘I am a big game of thrones fan and I don’t think I can find something else to make me want to stay glued to my screen for hours’… then this is your stop. You should find your spot here in case we’re having trust issues and you not wanting to give me the benefits of ‘seems like he knows what he is saying’ doubt. You should definitely start with this critically acclaimed miniseries that follows a young man found in the wrong place at the wrong time. Is the justice system going to do him right? Or is his life and those around him going to be left hanging by a thread? We all know what happens with a dead body, blood splatter, fingerprints, and a witness right?

It is a one-off thing as a miniseries with a beautiful single season.

PREACHER

This is comic book adaptation from the comedic duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg which follows a man who receives power beyond his wildest dreams and control. Not spitting out too much spoilers, if you’re familiar with Rogen’s works (the interview, pineapple express, sausage party, this is the end, etc) in the past, you’re bound to want to check this out and hop on this gospel filled with crazy, mind-bending, humorous characters and story-line which should please people who are into the supernatural.

Preacher available in 2 seasons.

MR ROBOT

The world is seen unequal and sometimes seems unfair to people. What happens when a young man with computer skills which an average human could only wish for decides to join a crusade to set the world back on ‘track’ in a way that seems fair and right to them. In this world of dark humour, crime, computers and technology while not leaving out the dark side of the internet, you’re bound to fall in love with Mr Robot.

Three seasons currently available, with the just ended third. You’ve got quite a while before season 4 bells come ringing.

WESTWORLD

A show that’s been lined up and regarded as the best and biggest thing after Game of Thrones. With a big production budget and airing on the same HBO that’s given us GOT, I think this should be the first show you should be watching during this off season. On a futuristic amusement park with robots who are as real as humans, we get to see the relationship and interaction between the hosts (robots) and guests who’ve come for a time out of their normal lives for the pleasure and entertainment. Relationship deepens and ties gets stronger on various adventures and plot set by administrators of the park. But what happens when the robots gain full awareness, go haywire or maybe override themselves? Black Mirror, you say?

Season one is currently available with the second season kicking off later in April.

TV/MoviesGame Of Thrones Off Season: Let’s Find You A New Main Chic by jhybho(op):
In the penultimate season of Game of Thrones, we were left a bit shocked by the pace at which things were resolved. It was a bit rushed compared to other seasons. At the end of the season, it was labelled as one of the worst Game of Thrones season bearing in mind that it was still awesome.

While we’re waiting for the eighth season that rounds up our beloved series, which is going to be a very very long miserable time, here are some TV shows we could try watching. I’m recommending them based on the pace at which things unfold, the slow, in-depth and complex story telling while not leaving out the brushes of humour and amazing characters to fall in love with who we can still all stalk on social media, especially Instagram (hmmmnn. Yh, we all do that) during this off season of GOT. With these elements taken into consideration, I think those are the reasons we all love GOT and can’t wait to have it back on our screens. It also serves as a chance to branch out and try new series you would like to make your main chic after Game of Throne ends.

Winter END is coming. The earlier you accept this fact, the better it is for you after Game of Thrones disappears from our screen. With multiple spinoffs already in the works, but none confirmed; there might still be a way to have your main chic close to your heart.

Game Of Thrones wall posters and A5 jotters available for sale.
Got more in mind? Show(s) as big as Game of Thrones in terms of production and storytelling that people are sleeping on. Leave your suggestions in the comments below. And let people get matched with a new main chic as Game of Thrones wraps up.

Bis Bald!

NOTE: To avoid spoilers and stories that touch, I won’t be going in-depth. You’re only going to be given reasons to fall in love with the series, why they kept me up and comparisons with Game of Thrones. You should want to check them out ASAP!

TV/MoviesWhat You Need To Know: ATLANTA by jhybho(op): 9:19am On Mar 23, 2018
This was actually written some weeks ago. Came across it and honestly its really on point, so just, read enjoy and if youve seen it lets hear your comments. Peace!
( SPOILERS-FREE… JUST READ AND GO START A NEW ADVENTURE WITH JUST TEN EPISODES AND A SECOND SEASON STARTING TODAY)
“What series should I watch?”
“Please don’t want my MB oo”
“There’s recession ooo, I want to laugh a lot ooo”
“I don’t want some stupid show where it’s all laughs and nothing reasonable to learn or experience” – early 2017 draft that feels like cringe this 2018.
Keep calm for there’s finally Menu! Menu!! Menu!!! at the bottom of that order of events. With the music industry in Nigeria currently on the rise and we’re starting to see more courage and bold steps from young artists without labels taking those wild risks trying to make it, Kush smoking on the rise, clubbing, house partying, social media usage booming, ladies trying to find their way to being independent and strong (where my feminists at?), sense of humour also increasing (though some people still lacking it badly), exposure to foreign issues which we hear every now and then and finally the HUSTLING spirit in Nigerians skyrocketing to 999%, this is definitely the next TV show to watch and get attached to as it’s second season starts today. Yaay, lucky you. You didn’t have to wait for almost a year.

This series I’m about to force into your soul led me personally on a path of hustling, breaking out, keeping it cool while still maintaining my grind. It doesn’t just push us around studio vibes(we were never even shown inside a studio, SPOILER!!), still we see and feel in the event of things that someone is making music as an art, is confident about what he’s got and really wants to hit it hard in the music scene. ATLANTA is basically humour infused into a broke man’s hustle to being successful serving as his estranged cousin’s manager who is an upcoming rapper in the music scene of Atlanta. Personally didn’t think he was good enough to be his cousin’s manager because of his lack of experience and all but he felt capable of handling this post at first thought. He must have had thoughts of quitting along the line as the challenges of entertainment hustle came smacking him in the face, but his will and determination to fill this shoes in the first place, obligations to take care of his daughter that he has with his best friend & on-and-off boning partner,Vanessa (Zazie Beatz) and dedication to succeed keeps pushing him through this comical, sometimes parody-like adventure while dragging us along not waiting to see if we’ve recovered from the last escapade or not. Also I’m not in support of family being mixed with business and more of that might be explored in season two, which resumes today.

Normal show-runners would have decided to take a more dramatic or totally musical approach to the story, but with this lighthearted approach while still dealing with serious issues is what makes ATLANTA standout as a show that has gone on to win two Golden Globes and two Emmys in its debut season. Would you have predicted a series would be a hit by tackling different personal and social issues every episode, while making it short and sharp with subtle jokes, weirdness and humour which hits you right on one side of the cheek and resonates on the other side for big momentss of laughter? This is one of breakout comedy TV shows of 2016, which we could still classify as drama cos of the way it deals with real social issues from police shootings, to racism, social media craze&cyber-trolls, basic everyday black family problems, a woman trying to figure out who she really is and many more issues while still keeping it real with its main plot which is a young man trying to break out as a person and his cousin, Alfred A.K.A Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) in the wild music industry of Atlanta. One thing ATLANTA possesses is holding a mirror to our present time and poking fun at it with no holding back ( we even got to see a black Justin Bieber, yeah, you read that right, “BLACK”).

a brief hilarious exchange between Earn and his cousin, Alfred. image: New Yorker…
I fell more deeply in love with the series when I found out my favourite character and almost all viewers’ favourite, Darius (Lakeith Stanfield), the upcoming rapper’s wingman is of Nigerian descent. So in other words his character was written to be a Nigerian-American, you’re feeling that? (I love when I hear my country’s name in stuffs like this). He’s a dude who lives by the words “take life day by day & easy”. A vivid example was shown in one of the episodes where he wasn’t allowed to enter a particular section in a Club just some minutes after leaving the same section, only to leave his friends there, go home, eat Cheerios and play “Zoo Tycoon” on Xbox. Weird right? Funny right? Life is easy!!! which is just a rat’s bite when compared to other scenes with him.

FX FX
Talking about characters and the way they’ve been uniquely written; Darius stands out as the calm guy with the all street wisdom and experience although he is not all free-spoken and puffed up about it, but he’s always there at the right time to drop his bits and thoughts on things, mostly acknowledged as humour rather than sharpthinking tho. He’s sort of the brain behind this group of hysterical young men.
FX... Vanessa FX... Alfred FX... Darius FX... Earn
Donald Glover acting as one of the showrunner, producer, writer and also as an actor (the upcoming rapper’s cousin and broke a$$ manager) on the show, portrays the sort of creative mind he’s got, if only God asked us how we wanted to be coming to this life. I constantly always feel inspired by creative minds like his. Watching the series, you’d get intimidated to light up some Kush to start flowing on the same wavelength with them, but nahhhh. Just with your social pop-culture knowledge and level of humour you get to enjoy this and please please please, it’s not a time to get annoyed or ‘over-woke’ by the things occasionally represented and made fun of. As he has promised, season two is going to be a classic. Who radiates so much confidence? What is going to break my heart the most is Donald ending Atlanta after three or four seasons cos he is already bored of it and needs a break, which he has often attributed to it being LIFE. Well, it is.

Seen Atlanta already and this has pushed you to want to go again for a second seating? or as a first timer already drawn to it this very moment? Let me know all of your thoughts in the comments section.

And if you’re a big big fan like me, SEASON TWO starts today officially as ‘Atlanta: Robbin’ Season’. Catch it on FX or your closest bootleg dealer.

You too help my hustle and ask for more of this, as a high demand for this and interaction keeps me on my toes to get you the best, not necessarily the mainstream stuffs we are forced to watch nowadays all because it’s popular (my drug-smuggling people) or we can travel to the past in it; (my DC people) or bring back someone from the dead ( Jon Snow fandom I hail you ooo). And doesn’t it feel good watching something everyone doesn’t watch and introducing it to them (you don turn founding father be that; don’t forget me the source sha, our secret is safe) So, do not forget to share.
PS: My favourite episode is the fourth episode with a fictive popular internet troll who played the young men. Obviously you can’t start a series from the fourth episode, you’re not my mum. So get off your comfy water bed and go start with episode one of ATLANTA!

PhonesMy Airtel Sim Has Started Downloading Very Very Slow At Midnight. by jhybho(op): 7:06am On Aug 01, 2017
Hello Everyone,
Prior to this new unfortunate development, sometimes I get up to 800-900 k/s in my location. Even if network is worse i get nothing less than 200-100k/s. Since last week i started getting something like 20- 10k/s when I download something more than100mb or more. But if I want to download something small like 20mb or less, it starts getting very fast again, I've tried changing APN, done several things but NO, the download won't stop moving like an injured Snail.

Midnight sub users you people know how this feels now.
The gurus in the house please help a Brother out!!

Another very much unneeded personal attack.

I pointed it out several times in the article that I'm not here to cleberate mediocrity but rather, to awaken my readers to the world outside of "reading, reading, reading and reading of the same set of materials, over and over again".

Although some presumably lazy students would find the article unquestionably appealing without reading in between the lines to get the intended message of the writer. Grades are very important, but shouldn't be the hallmarks for studying. There is a life in books for those who not only read, but take lead.
Seriously you shouldn't have answered the guy. You should know one or two things about "chicken littles" nice write up though.
