China will support Turkey's possible bid to join the BRICS, said Chinese Ambassador to Ankara Liu Shaobin, quoted by Aydınlık. According to the diplomat, in the BRICS countries there is a high tendency to trade in local currencies to abandon the US dollar.

Like China, we want Türkiye to join BRICS. We will develop together with developing countries. We will grow together. The expansion of the BRICS gave confidence, strengthened the feeling of solidarity among the countries. It is also important for international justice ,” the Chinese ambassador said .

Liu Shaobin stressed that many countries want to move away from settlements in dollars because of the unilateral measures taken by the US authorities. The diplomat called the dollar an instrument of world domination of the United States. According to him, for this reason, the tendency to refuse trade in the American currency is strengthening.

China is the second largest economy in the world. There is a trend towards the yuan ,” the Chinese ambassador added.

According to Liu Shaobin, China and Turkey also have a common position on Africa and could cooperate in this region. This could be beneficial for the future and development of African countries, he said.

In addition, Beijing appreciates Ankara's efforts on the grain deal, but at the same time, Russia's demands must also be met, the ambassador said. The diplomat noted that some countries are using the Ukrainian crisis for other purposes. China is ready to work together with Turkey to resolve the situation, the countries have similar positions on this issue, Liu Shaobin said.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, following the BRICS summit in South Africa, said that 15 countries had applied to join the organization. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during the forum said that the UAE, Saudi Arabia , Iran, Argentina, Egypt and Ethiopia were officially invited to the BRICS. According to him, the full membership of new countries in the association will begin on January 1, 2024.
