Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has promised to take care of ailing actor, Victor Olaotan's medical bills. Olaotan was involved in a ghastly accident two years ago that cost him the use of his legs. Few days ago, an appeal was made online for people to donate towards his medical bills.

Announcing the cheering news on IG this morning, veteran actor, Richard Mofe Damijo wrote,

While speaking after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in State House Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has reduced the cost of forms for some terminal examinations in the country.

He said the examination forms are for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, organised by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO), as well as the Basic Education Certificate Examination.

According to Tolu Ogunlesi (@toluogunlesi), the Head of Digital Communications for President Buhari, who shared the news, the reduction will take effect from January 2019.

He tweeted,

President Buhari has approved the reduction in the cost of Forms for JAMB UTME, NECO SSCE and the Basic Education Certificate Examination. With effect from January 2019, the cost of JAMB UTME Form will drop from N5,000 to N3,500. NECO will drop from N11,350 to N9,850.

Minister of Education Adamu Adamu announced this just now at todays #FECBrief. He said President Buhari directed the Ministry to look into the reduction following the significant improvement in revenues being remitted to the Treasury by the Education Agencies.

The Exam Agencies are not meant to be revenue generating bodies, theyre only supposed to cover costs/operating expenses. The sharp increase in remittances by JAMB (from less than N60m in 20102016 to N15 BILLION in 2017/18) have shown that the fees being charged could be reduced.

We reported earlier about the woman that committed suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon on Sunday. We've been able to get more details, her identity and her motive for committing suicide.

According to the source we got the woman is US based, married with 3 kids and lives in Texas. She was reported to be involved in an extra-marital affair with her lover in Nigeria an elderly man who betrayed her and swindled her of 10million Naira.

While trying to arrest him he published nude pictures of them together in order to prove his innocence to the police that whatever happened between them was consexual, that he's not a fraudster as claimed by the married woman.

The blackmail later got to her husband and this compelled him to conduct a DNA test on all his 3 children which later turned out that they are not his kids.

The shame and embarrassment which was too much for the woman to bare led her to take her own life by committing suicide and leaving her 3 children all alone with no knowledge of who their real father is.

Search is still ongoing to recover her body.

An unidentified woman on Sunday plunged into the lagoon on 3rd Mainland, in Lagos.

There are however, conflicting accounts as to how the incident happened. A version of the account said that the woman was a passenger in an UBER car, driving inward Lagos Island, when she told the driver to stop.

Thereafter, she reportedly alighted from the vehicle, crossed the road and plunged into the lagoon. Another version had that the deceased was a man, who parked his Ford Explorer car on top of the 3rd Mainland bridge and plunged into the lagoon. Picture of the vehicle with plate number APP 190 CE went viral on social media yesterday.

When contacted, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Chile Oti, confirmed the incident saying:

“When the information reached the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, he directed rescue team comprising policemen from the Marine Police, the Rapid Response Squad, RRS and those from the three divisions around the area: Adeniji Adele, Oworoshoki and Adekunle divisions. The Police rescue team are still at work as I speak, in collaboration with agencies like the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA the Lagos State State Ambulance Service and the Federal Road Safety Corp personnel . So far, they have not succeeded in recovering the body. Any development on it will be communicated to the public.”
