Zonto231:It depends on what your ultimate goal is. For a lot of people that is CISSP. This is going to be controversial but I will advise going for the Security+ | CYSA+ | Crisc | CEH then CISSP; or better still go for the CISSP direct. Why spend resources on “also rans”? It might take awhile to get there but you will eventually with some dedication & good guidance ... |

New CompTIA CySA+ (CS0-002) exam coming in Q2 2020! Beta exam available on October 11, 2019. Interested in taking the beta exam? Registration begins October 11, 2019, on the Pearson VUE site. https://certification.comptia.org/certifications/cybersecurity-analyst?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWmpKa1pUUmpPVE0xT1dFNCIsInQiOiJmUmFQcE9zSXN5Zkd0VXlxYVZISDErYW5IdlhVM3Nwb0VhSGVwM1pscVpSN1JPZVdKNHBXUFE4STJ4dnNzbjJPWTVVRThuRVVHYm1IUGVISW9IT1BPT0VQS2dYWGE0Ukc2Z1FVWlArMnpsK0VueFE0VHR0aFwvQzVlN3hOZ25NNFYifQ%3D%3D |
CeeKay17:CISSP a bit more cryptic. Please see above. Would recommend CCSK, then CCSP. |
A comparison on CRISC, CISM, CISSP & CISA I have been asked a few questions on this lately. I saw the following on Reddit lately. I agree with most of it: Cism seems to be the easiest since its mindset is easy to grasp. Cisa was a little bit more difficult given all the audit right procedures you have to take into account. Again, mindset for Cisa was quite easy to get, but not as with Cism. The cissp is another thing; completely different. There is no mindset that works here. Also the technical details are way more deep here, although it is not a computer science exam. It never felt I was ready and super prepared for the exam; and while taking the exam you don't know what is going on until you receive the pass / fail sheet of paper. One important thing is that Crisc, Cisa and Cism have study material very related to the actual questions in the exam, especially the test bank. There is almost nothing like that for cissp. You have to look well, well; and a lot of info out there is way off. The Official study material and questions looks very different to actual exam so you almost cannot know your probability of success. The CISSP is a little more focused on technical details, but includes a lot of Crisc, CISM and CISA management and RMF-type material. It includes things you already know through Security+, Crisc, CISA, CISM, and experience. My opinion is that the CISSP is a little tougher. |

Cissp Conclusions/Recommendations: • Your role is a RISK ADVISOR • Do not FIX problems: Consult/advise • Who is responsible for security? • How much security is enough? • All decisions start with risk management: cost-benefit analysis • In the exam read the question fully, sometimes twice if the writing is twisted;, mark the keywords from the question; Read all answers the first time; Eliminate options with a clear wrong answer. Read questions carefully and understand the real problem and answer accordingly. • Get your mind into the zone of thinking from the correct perspective. • Keep in mind the CISSP process • Think like a manager • If you study by yourself, you will always see your material from the same perspective; I recommend choosing a study group. |
It seems CYSA+ is up for revision. After October 11th you will be able to participate in the new revision beta exam through Pearsonvue for $50 usd. Official release of the new version will be April 2020. For those of you interested, this a great way of getting certified for very cheap. Beta exams consists of 3 hours and a little over 85 questions. |
