Cognitive Dissonance in Black America and Africa:




In this post I will give examples of Cognitive Dissonance theory by Leon Festinger, beginning on the smallest levels and continuing on with the greater levels until we come full circle on the grand scheme of things.

What does the term Cognitive Dissonance mean?
Psychological state produced by conflicts between cognitions. Cognitions encompass any idea, belief, emotion, or knowledge…


Feeling one faces when something challenges their current belief system or way of thinking. Instead of changing your beliefs you ignore the truth and look for details that fit your old beliefs.
Inconsistency holding two thoughts that are inconsistent of one another = dissonance

Ways to resolve inconsistencies or removing the dissonance:
1. Change a thought
2. Change behavior
3. Add a new thought ; rationalizing
4. Trivialize the inconsistency ; not care ignoring
5. Denial

Why do we feel the need to remove Dissonance? It may get in the way of finding a sense of truth in ones world and feel there should be a clear consistent picture. When this picture becomes inconsistent it creates confusion in the minds of most, hence the issue of dissonance.
The idea that dissonance can cause negative physical discomfort by realizing the existence of two inconsistent thoughts or one’s behavior contradicts your true beliefs. So this causes the feelings of physical and inner discomfort, ie: spiritual battle or driving force that pushes now to want to restore consistency. The perception of having a choice and realizing you chose against your beliefs can also drive the need to resolve the dissonance. Lastly negative consequences of these inconsistent thoughts can create a need to rid oneself of the dissonance.



Saying you don’t believe in abortions but getting one, or getting an abortion and voting against pro-choice
Knowing Jesus wasn't born in December but still celebrating Christmas, and better yet knowing that Europeans brought Christianity to Africa along with slave trade to help enslave Africans but still choosing to worship their god over your cultural gods.

Just a thought, but the video showed pictures of how prayer from various religions mixed with love/ gratitude positively effected the structure of the water. Based on your beliefs that those religions are asiatic or inherently evil why do you think the water reacted positively from the prayers?

Bolaino: They should blame the President, because the President is too soft at heart. He is the one that is delaying the fight on corruption in the country. Later I found out that he was reading the allegations from a leaflet that was shared to all CAN and PFN churches in the Country. They were saying that Buhari was killing Christians in the North. There is no christian person in Delta state who will deny knowledge of this; it was common story during the election campaign time

TaShawn: You know all of this bc as stated previously u worked with Ayo and Ayiri, What did u do while working with them?

Bolaino: Yes I worked with them I was helping them to frame Tompollo up because at the time I was angry that Tompollo refused to join the APC. So anytime I had information that they wanted to attack a facility and blame it on Tompollo I will keep it to myself. Until it the incidents would occur. Since then many bad things have been happening because I have been keeping quiet. I am tired of the lies, and I believe if I had been able to inform Tompollo on time that the pastor was framing him up, his father would still be alive. I feel bad and I feel sorry.

TaShawn: What do u have to say to those who laugh at the proposed idea of a warlord wanting peace as an oxymoron, as if peace is not something to fight for?

I have to also put it on record that the high rate of drug abuse amongst youths in Delta State is alarming. It is because of these drugs that the youths are lured into cultism and all sorts of criminal activities. The question we should be asking is this: Where are all these drugs in Warri coming from? I'll leave you with this question.

TaShawn: So how does your response pertain to the article by Makeri?

Bolaino: This is my reply to that article: The allegations that I am being sponsored by the APC to cause division amongst Christians and Muslims is absurd. Such comments should be cautioned to avoid incitement between Christians and Muslims who have been living peacefully in Nigeria untill the Pastor brought bombings to Nigeria, after the October 1st bombing at Eagle Square in Abuja. That one is even another topic for another time, because the pastor succeeded successfully in that operation. The people were set  up very well in the same way they set Ibori and his wife up. They set the guy and his brother up for the bombing. You have to know that this man is an actual genius. I believe so. I have never seen anybody in the world that is as intelligent as him. This man will even fool the pope himself. And I am sure that if Jesus Christ appears to him He might succeed in fooling Jesus Christ too, If Jesus Christ does not ask God to show him the Truth. The man has fooled the whole world, but he can not fool me.

If either spouse fails to both leave and cleave, problems will result in a marriage. If spouses refuse to truly leave their parents, conflict and stress result. Leaving your parents does not mean ignoring them or not spending any time with them. Leaving your parents means recognizing that your marriage created a new family and that this new family must be a higher priority than your previous family. If spouses neglect to cleave to each other, the result is a lack of intimacy and unity. Cleaving to your spouse does not mean being with your spouse every moment or not having meaningful friendships outside of your marriage. Cleaving to your spouse means recognizing that you are joined, essentially “glued,” to your spouse. Cleaving is key in building a marriage that will endure hard times and be the beautiful relationship that God intends it to be.


There are three aspects to the statement of Genesis 2:24: 1. Leave - This indicates that in a family there are two types of relationships. The parent-child relationship is the temporary one and there will be a “leaving.” The husband-wife relationship is the permanent one—“what God has joined together, let man not separate” (Matthew 19:6). Problems occur in family life when these two roles are reversed and the parent-child relationship is treated as the primary relationship. When an adult child has married and this parent-child relationship remains primary, the newly formed union is threatened.


2. Cleave - the Hebrew word translated “cleave” refers to (1) the pursuing hard after someone else and (2) being glued or stuck to something/someone. So a man is to pursue hard after his wife after the marriage has occurred (the courtship should not end with the wedding vows) and is to be “stuck to her like glue.” This cleaving indicates such closeness that there should be no closer relationship than that between the two spouses, not with any former friend or with any parent.

3. And they shall become one flesh - Marriage takes two individuals and creates a new single entity. There is to be such sharing and oneness in every aspect (physical, emotional, intellectual, financial, social) that the resulting unity can be best described as “one flesh.” Again, when there is greater sharing and emotional support gained from a continuing parent-child relationship than from the husband-wife relationship, the oneness within the marriage is being threatened, resulting in an unbiblical imbalance.

My Reasons are as follows. The system that is supposed to be the driver of the Nigerian Ship is not functioning. Nay. It is dead. Where in the country called Nigeria can one find Justice? Is it in the Churches? The Courts? Or The Traditional Rulers. Nowhere. Why Because we are still living as slaves even in this 21st century. In our own lands. We are starving to eat food is a problem. People are dying like flies. Some people are working to build the country. While others are working to suffer and to punish those working for the good of the country. Why. Because of Money. police has no shame again. They even tell you Thank you after you give them 50 naira. As if it is Religious offering. This is shameful. Whether you are rich or poor and you are a Nigerian. You should be very ashamed of yourself. Because your Identity is causing the world problem everywhere.

and what will splitting along ethnic lines do to solve the issue? Its not as if any one ethnic group is less corrupt...

Since returning from Nigeria and even before going I have had a mind to combat injustice. No, I am not the perfect angel, but it hurts my heart and pains me even deeper into my soul when I learn about the policies that are being carried out inside my Mother's land. To set the record straight I am an American citizen yes, but Nigeria is my home. It is where my roots are and it was the home of my ancestors who's blood has been shed again, and again due to the evils of capitalism, tribalism, and ignoralism. No, ignoralism is not a word, but it should be made into one. The acts of people who consistently ignore an issue that is directly affecting them. They ignore due to ignorance hence the word ignoralism. We as a people have forgotten where we come from and only wish to be exotic and to be respected inside a country that has never wished to respect nor accept us unless we are working to build their dreams or dying for their cause (America/UK/ the western world).

Now to continue…to the nation who uses Jesus as God as its front to stomp the lives out of any one nation who is weaker, poorer, less educated than them. The nation who respects no one but its self. The Lady of so called liberty who comes to steal, kill and destroy all in the name of capitalism. Who takes without giving; how can one nation take valuable resources and in exchange give clean water? Or pay natives less than living wage? Is everyone not entitled to clean water and a fair wage? Must we sacrifice our souls in order to drink clean water, breathe clean air and support our families? Yes, we must sell our souls to even have the right to pursue happiness. Our natural liberties are off limits unless we meet the demands of our masters’.

My question is this: Why do Nigerians want so bad to be like the Western world? Most of your fellow country people leave and like to spend money abroad, send their children to our schools, buy houses, and create business rather than build up your own country. You like to wear western styles and not your own traditional clothing. You want to be like rappers. You neglect your cultural heritage, traditions, languages and instead strive to learn another’s. You praise the white man’s Jesus as if you've never had your own more true version of religion. Yet you will enlarge your egos against one another and rage tribal war like imbeciles without home training. Why do you allow your corrupt politicians and elders to trick you into conflict with one another? Why has no one chosen to stand up. Have you not heard, if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything? How is it you strive to act civilly towards the white man but quickly become uncivil with your own brothers and sisters due to tribal differentiation? Coming to America is not a sin in itself, but forsaking one’s own country is the biggest act of disloyalty there is.

I apologize if these words send offensive feelings your way, but I am not sorry. Do you know your history? Or do you only know what the Pastors preach? What the white man wants is for you to forgo or forget your own history and adopt his, which is no more than a stolen souped up version of yours. The pride that you have should be used to come together and rebuild Nigeria along with the entire African continent. Stop allowing yourselves to be colonized inside the present system of neocolonialism. The whole of Africa was once the leader the of the world. all the other nations studied and invaded the continent over and over again until we have what is what you now call home.

I do not say these things to create tension, I say them as an eye opener. Many of you (Nigerians) come to America and other countries and have so much pride, but why? You leave your country in desolation only to enjoy the benefits and be among your oppressors. To increase the economy of the oppressors, while your own economy is left in disarray. If more Nigerians would keep their dollars black the respect and pride would be restored to Nigeria. How can an African American such as myself, who came to your country to find her roots do so if you guys don't even know them? How can I want to do better for a country but its residents and natural citizens are yet to take a stand for themselves today?? The fall of the black race started in Africa and has continued with Africa. If Africa does not get it together the black race as a whole will ultimately be lost. We African Americans need you, while I may be the first and only to admit it, we seriously do need you. We need all the strength, pride, heritage, and unity that can be mustered among you because this is war. War against my African brothers and sisters. War against anyone who looks black. War against anyone with the tiniest bit of melanin. War against God’s children, the elect, the first born of this world. Genocide, Mental slavery. Tribalism is racism, stop letting them divide us and conquer us! Stop falling for the white man’s trickery! Not all whites are bad, I do not hate whites but the ones who run the world and control its finances are whom I am referring to…use your smart phones and data plans to do more than browse these blogs. Better use Google for something enlightening, wake up, and get smart or die!! Oh, and if the shoe doesn't fit than do not wear it!!

There is no Jesus Christ. Nobody ever existed representing that persona, which is a fiction created by the Vatican/Roman Empire.

Those Black/African Christians refusing to do their part in helping to fix the African world are playing into the hands of Rome. Rome wants Africa to stay destabilized, lack infrastructure, lacking security, and exploitable to them and other European/Asiatic powers. But the real truth is that those who don't help the few of us who are working on building up the African world are betraying us. Ase.

I am not debating the existence of Jesus Christ; if you and I believe he is nonexistent, fine. That leaves the other majority of the Black race who earnestly do believe and reverence their Pastors as God. Hence the existence of the likes of Pastor Ayo and his blind cult following ... Now how does one "fix It" ??
