I once heard someone said he was tipped 50k here, I usually don't believe Nigerians are that generous till it happened to me this night. Took him from Oniru to VI. Trip of 6500 on Bolt Comfort, he paid 20k and asked me to wait, I usually don't like waiting for passengers due to how it usually turn out to be and I dey chase bolt trip bonus but my instincts just kicked in that if this guy fit pay 20k, he seems a generous person also the quality of his conversation all through his phone conversation. After waiting a while I took him to Bourdillion, then straight back to his place in Oniru. Naso baba run me 50k extra. I wish person fit dey meet people like this everyday or atleast twice a week.

So Ehailing drivers are now being targeted by scammers.
I got a request around Wuse, the rider sent me a message that he wanted me to pickup 5 bottles of Hennessy from the supposed manager of the village chief restaurant and bar. He also asked that I help him give the manager 5k and that he would refund me the 5k plus the 3,500 for the trip=12,000 (I don’t know the maths that he did that he used to arrive at 12k, he was probably trying to prey on my greed)

He forwarded me the “managers” number and I called him when I got there. When I mentioned coming to collect the drinks for the “Army man” that booked me, he acknowledged and said he wasn’t on ground but that he will call his staff to bring the drinks for me. He now brought up the 5k that the “army man” was supposed to give him, I told him that I was aware and that I was going to transfer the money for him. He told me to send him a message on WhatsApp so he could forward his account number, I have our conversation attached below.

When I was using my old car (manual Kia Cerato) early last year, I had to stop driving at a point cos.my whole left leg was hurting constantly...at a point I thought it was a permanent thing. My leg even used to shake uncontrollably when I slept back then.

But after stopping the business for 2 months, the pain went away. And since I got my new car (automatic), I haven't really felt pain in my leg like that. How often do you drive? How many days of the week and how many hours each day.
Good morning bro. I drive 4 times a week, 7am to 5pm. I’m stand at 6’3 so my height is definitely a contributing factor. Also it gets worst for me when I carry 2 people at the back seat which will then require me to move my seat forward. I intend working only weekends now and I saw a tip on stepping out of the car while waiting for Ty passengers to come, I’ll be trying that.

I saw this on Twitter and even though it’s about a food delivery company, it could very well relate to our Ehailing companies.
It’s crazy how this companies use their algorithms to essentially use their employees like cattle.
The “Desperation score” actually caught my attention. They basically exploit desperate drivers while they offer passive drivers juicy trips in other to rein them in. Chai!

11.DON'T GIVE ADVICE TO A CLIENT (RIDER) IF THEY DIDN'T SAMPLE YOUR OPINION.

12.DON'T TAKE SIDES NOR TOLERATE ANY HITTED ARGUMENTS WITH PARTNERS, FRIENDS OR ACQUAINTANCE IN YOUR CAR. IF ARGUMENT IS GETTING HITTED QUIETLY FIND A SAFE PLACE AND DROP THEM OFF BECAUSE YOUR SAFETY AND THAT OF THE CAR IS THREATENED.

13.TRY TO BE IN CONTROL AT ALL TIMES AND MAKE YOUR DECISION CONSIDERING FIRST YOUR INTEREST AND SAFETY.

14. ALL YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS MUST BE LOCKED AT ALL TIMES. OPEN ONLY WHERE THE RIDER IS ALIGHTING OR COMING IN FROM AND CENTRAL LOCK ALMOST IMMEDIATELY.

Good day everyone.

I started my Ehailing journey today in Abuja at Around 6:30AM and got home around.
E no easy at all oh grin

Pricing
I tried to use some of the tips I’ve read on this thread about dividing the trip price by the distance to get the price per KM, preferably at above N350 but the prices on inDrive you’d rarely get trips above N300 per Km and most times once i use my calculator and I see it’s above N350 someone else has already taken the Trip- I lost a very good airport trip of about N400 plus Per Km to this.
Please is there an easier way to Identify good trips without having to use calculator?

On one occasion where, I also noticed there was a difference in price the passenger was to pay me which was about N500 naira higher than what it was when I accepted the trip and since most time passengers pay before we arrive at the destination, I wasn’t able to get the additional N500 as the passenger had left before I realized. Please what influences this increase so i can watch out for it next time?

Village people. grin
I also had my first bad experience today😂
Went to pick up a passenger inside Wuse market and the whole place was packed, I called her to come meet me where I was stuck in traffic and I attempted cutting into another road leading outside the market that had been blocked with caution tapes and some tyres after I had asked one of those hausa boys to help me move it in an attempt to dodge that terrible traffic. Before I knew it, one guy just brought at tyre clamp that didn’t I see that there’s no road there, na so I start to beg oh, the hausa boy that helped me move it say make I try settle the guy before he clamp my tyre, na so I give am 2,000, for ride of 2,700 and the girl(passenger) no even pity me add something after I completed the trip☹️

Fuel Efficiency.
I drive a Rav 4 2004- Before I started my fuel consumption was through the roof. N15,000 naira fuel always struggled to give me 45Miles.
I’ve changed my upstream o2 sensor, cleaned the air filter and throttle body, fixed back thermostat and returned fan to factory settings and I got 130Miles on let’s say about 22 litres and I had a little bit of fuel before I bought N15,000 fuel today which I used to work. Also all of my trips was done entirely with Ac, I only didn’t use Ac on few occasions when I was heading to pick up passengers. Question - do you guys think I would have likely grossed more if I didn’t use Ac at all as I’m seriously considering its usage henceforth.

Navigation
Navigation was here and there .on one occasion I forgot to tap start ride of InDrive and I followed the same route back to the pick up spot where I had just left, Chai

Also on like 2 occasions the riders gave me directions that were in conflict with what Google Maps was showing me as the map was taking me through a much farther route. How do I deal with this going forward and pickup distances are so far which is what is eating up my fuel cry

Conclusions
Upon closing I also tried using Bolt “Trips towards destination” but I didn’t get trips going towards where I live so I just picked people along the road going towards my place. Lo and behold on the way home I started getting trip updates but I couldn’t check the phone to see the detail/prices as it was already dark and I didn’t want to use my phone on the highway.

Lastly, I would really like to know areas I should target for good rides as today after I left baze university, other trips took me to Nile university, Wuse zone 3, Gwarimpa, Durumi, Naf valley estate, Nyanya and I found it difficult to get good rides leaving most of these places.

And please if there’s anybody that drives in Abuja here, what days would you advise are the best possible days for the business as I plan on working only 5 days in a week.

I look forward to getting your opinions and and whatever advice I can get on how to improve my profitability. Thanks

Vela01:
Start in very early in the morning from somewhere Jankande, Agungi, orchid, you will get better surge ride to phase 1, Admiralty.

dont go to ikoyi or VI in the morning because most times, you won't see ride back because most people you take from lekki to VI are going to the office.

Run the whole of lekki, Ajah, Sangotedo, etc till around 3. By 4, any trip to VI or IKOYi is good, you definitely see rush time trip back to lekki, if you get another back to vi or ikoyi, run am, you'll always get trip back till 9-10pm.

For a start, you no go too stress with that time table.

Avoid all those hoodlums by the road side urging you to take short cuts, it's always police trap.

Stay safe man!
Please can any Abuja driver give route advice like this please. 🙏
