Ofunaofu: Defence Minister Christopher Musa has urged Nigerian youths to take the lead in tackling insecurity, saying security agencies alone cannot solve the country’s challenges. Christopher Musa says Nigerian youths must play a leading role in tackling insecurity.
He stressed that security is a collective responsibility, not the duty of security agencies alone.
The minister urged youths to support security efforts through vigilance, innovation and community engagement.
Musa said empowering young people is key to addressing the root causes of insecurity.
The Minister of Defence, retired General Christopher Musa, has challenged Nigerian youths to take a leading role in the fight against insecurity, saying lasting peace and stability cannot be achieved by security agencies alone.
Musa made the call while addressing young Nigerians at a public event, where he stressed that the country’s youth population remains its greatest asset and must be actively involved in efforts to tackle security challenges affecting communities across the nation.
According to the minister, insecurity has continued to pose a major threat to national development, with issues such as banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other criminal activities affecting lives and livelihoods in different parts of the country.
He said young people have a critical role to play because they are often closest to their communities and are well-positioned to identify suspicious activities and share useful information with relevant authorities.
Musa emphasised that security should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of the military, police and other security agencies, noting that every citizen has a role to play in protecting the country.
The defence minister urged youths to embrace patriotism, community service and civic responsibility, adding that greater collaboration between citizens and security agencies would help strengthen efforts to address security threats.
He also encouraged young Nigerians to use technology, innovation and social networks positively in supporting national security objectives rather than allowing such platforms to be exploited by criminals and those seeking to destabilise society.
According to him, meaningful youth engagement remains one of the most effective ways to address the root causes of insecurity, including unemployment, social exclusion and vulnerability to criminal recruitment.
Musa further stated that empowering young people through education, skills development and economic opportunities would help reduce crime and create a more stable society.
The minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to improving security across the country but stressed that government efforts alone would not be sufficient without the support and participation of citizens.
His comments come as Nigeria continues to battle various security challenges in several regions, prompting renewed discussions on the need for a whole-of-society approach to tackling insecurity.
The defence minister maintained that with the energy, creativity and numerical strength of Nigerian youths, the country possesses the human resources needed to overcome many of its security challenges if properly mobilised.
He therefore called on young Nigerians to rise above divisions and contribute actively to building safer communities and a more secure nation.
joeyswift: I am against the violent approach South Africans are using. However, you wont blame them when there are a lot of illegal immigrants including our Nigerian brothers, who even go as far as doing drugs. It destroys our global image.
Which Global Image are you talking about when.......
princepee: Make can go sit down one place ..... So cat got their mouth all this days......? Can have become political. No wonder the Catholic church pulled out

What manner of Award was this while our children are still in captivity all over Nigeria? God punish everyone involved in such projects!!!
seunmsg: It’s easier to be in the opposition and be condemning every single decision of the ruling party while spewing populist rhetoric. Once you get the power and have to do the actual governance, it’s a different kettle of fish entirely. The young guys who took over power in a revolutionary style victory have proven once again that governance is more than noisemaking.
Senegal is now in big economic mess, debt to GDP has grown over 130%, they are now defaulting on their loans and IMF is on their neck to implement painfully needed reforms. PMS subsidy is at an all time high and they have to keep borrowing to sustain it.
The two friends who took over the government promising heaven and earth are now political enemies. The government that is barely two years in office has now fallen apart. The country is now in a worse economic situation than when they took over. Marky Sall is just somewhere now laughing at the Senegalese people for voting in these young, incompetent and clueless boys.
Just like Gowon & Ojukwu in 1966. I come in peace ooo!!!
goodman55: It's quite unfortunate that in Nigeria, we don't kw our right and how to exercise it or them. Meeting your Landlord and asking that the due should be tried paid and that you guys actually need the light is never a bad thing but I don't kw the manner in which you express yourself b4 him. A compound where others can't talk bcus they're afraid such a lordlord feels intimidated when one boldly talk. Cooperation is very vital and it's build lapses especially in demanding for your right. Paying a house rent and not seeing light is very annoying. The less should be light bcus most Houses don't have water na you go provide am but for light haba naw.
Oga let's us also take a look at Landlord side: Is it his duty to be paying for Disco Transformer when he is not a Shareholder in the Company?
IbrahimSola: YOU SHOULD TAKE HIM UP, SO THAT OTHER LANDLORDS CAN LEARN. I am a landlord, and it costs a lot to build, especially now that cement goes for 12K and above. But that does not take away the right of the tenant, and neither has it created a shortcut from the law.
If you are a yearly tenant, he is TOTALLY wrong, except your Tenancy Agreement said he can serve you notice within ONE MONTH. If the Agreement did not clearly state so, the quit notice can be vacated by the court. As a yearly tenant, he needs to give you 6 months notice, nothing less. Anything less than that is an abuse and can't stand in law.
Find a lawyer and talk to first before you react. This step is very important. Any wrong step you take kills your case.
After the expiration of the 6 months and you're not able to leave his property, the law demands him to issue you 7 days notice of his Intention to Recover Possession. It is after the 7 days that he will approach the court to file processes to evict you. The court will serve you summon, informing you of the intention of the court to kick you out and pack your loads to court premises. If within 7 days you fail to show cause (at the court) why you should not be evicted, the court bailiffs will arrive your house and pack your things to the court premises. If you fail to go and claim them, after some period, they will auction them off and you can't do shishi. If you go to claim them, the court will charge you for the period that those properties have been with them (i'm not so certain about this step). But if there is any rent remaining for the period you stayed, the court will cause you to pay (it is called mesne rent) before you can recover your loads.
But get it clear, the landlord has NO BUSINESS in packing out the loads of his tenants like throwing them outside. Or changing the padlock, or removing zinc (like one used to do in a property to close mine), or taking any action outside the legal processes of evicting a tenant. IT IS ONLY THE COURT THAT IS ALLOWED TO EVICT A TENANT BY FORCE.
So in my final thought, if anyone reading this has received a notice from a landlord that is short from the presumed period (6 months for yearly tenants; 3 months for quarterly tenants; 1 month for monthly tenants; 7 days for weekly/tenants-at-will, etc), then you can challenge the notice in court. But ensure that if your landlord is a spiritual man that you also become a spiritual man (lol). Otherwise you can win him anytime anyday in court.
For landlords, please ensure you have an agreement in place, stating clearly that as a yearly tenant, you can serve them 1 month or 3-month quit notice. If this is the signed agreement by both parties, it stands.
Oh, based on the issue at hand, the landlord can also demand that you give him money to go and pay, and not to give you defective quit notice. The motive is wrong, but you cannot prove the motive for him giving you the notice. But you can prove that his quit notice is defective and is poopoo before the law. You should talk to a lawyer. Even a 2nd year law student can handle this case.
Oga Landlord, is the duty of the Communities to buy Transformers when they are not Share Holders in NEPA or Disco? That other people are sitting on their rights should not be my business. That's why he asked the Tenant to leave his house!!!. Any issues with that? I can't afford paying for Transformer & my light was disconnected by the so called Community & I asked the Tenant to leave my house. What's the problem with that?
I am very , very sorry for you ooo. Better be very careful. One of The Laws of Power says ...Never try to over shine your master!!! I come in peace ooo.

And where are the Organizers & demonstrators at Occupy Nigeria rally in January 2012 if I may ask? They included Eminent Professors, Academics, Clergy men, Nollywood Actors/Actresses, Seasoned Activists & of course misguided masses
thesolutions: Denominational fathers are still fathers. There is a unifying body known as Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). They have made statements just like our legislators are making statements regarding the security situation in the country. But their statements can be bought just like those of the politicians can be bought too.
Is is statements that solves security challenges? But if a respected father, be it denominational father or any religious father, makes statements, the state forces will act on those statements to show him they are on top of the matter.
But when respect for these fathers have gone to the dogs, the best they can do is give examples of countries that are getting it right so as not to step on toes of vindictive government and self centred citizens
Oga, do these Denominational Fathers act like father to all Christians? Pastor Adeboye sees only the RCCG members as his children & doesn't hide that. He once prayed that other Christians shall bow & be begging RCCG members for food!!! Bishop Oyedepo O gathered normally refers Members of Winners as Citizens !!!. What about others? Servants? I beg joor!!!
Don't mind him. Does Orisa worshipping permit one to invade a Radio Station with a gxn as was done in 19... Without Christianity, would he had become literate & exposed to Western Education etc? I beg pack for one side Prof
