Jobs/Vacancies / Re: NGSDP NATIONAL POWER TRAINING INSTITUTE (NAPTIN): A FEDERAL SCAM? by Joenex: 10:03am On Aug 29, 2015
Whynotthetruth:

Bros, I thought the brain behind the training institution was simply to provide a labour pool for Discos & Gencos instead of having them outsourcing such to expatriates and not solely for government to employ them directly

[quote author=stanleyuzoh022 post=37070258]@op: I feel your pain. Not been employed after going through an intense training of high standard by NAPTIN, which boils down to the global issue of unemployment especially amongst the youths. The best we can do is pray for better policies and implementation of existing ones to help reduce the level of this worm of unemployment eating up our society and the world at large.

NAPTIN is a training institute established to provide training for the power sector personnel as well as coordinate training activities in the sector. NAPTIN was strategically positioned to provide the ever needed capacity building and skills development for the growing power sector in Nigeria and Africa at Large. Thank you for acknowledging the great quality of training as I know NAPTIN will always strive to maintain the highest standards within the dynamic and evolving power sector with courses and training designed and tailored to directly meet power sector's current technical, business, managerial, leadership and commercial operations which is key to the success of the Electricity Power Sector Reform Act.

So many Graduates of NAPTIN NGSDP employed today were either through recommendations from NAPTIN or Personal effort or God's grace. NAPTIN never promised or stated in her vision, mission or mandate that she will employ her graduates. ICAN, PTI, UNIVERSITIES and other. Training Institutes or Organisations do not employ their graduates except on managment decisions which occur on rare occasion. You must understand that previously, people, state governments spend their money going out of the country for such training, but NAPTIN brought the knowledge home to avail us the opportunity of acquiring.

Engr. Reuben Okeke is a pillar in the Nigeria power sector who is to a very large extent dedicated to moving the Nigeria power sector to greater heights. Ask Engineers who have worked with him in the past, he is an emblem of excellence who is passionate about his duties. Without his efforts and NAPTIN I knew in 2009 will not be where it is today. This is to say that he is a tool God/Allah hands.

Further more training an individual is not scam, people attend training for improved knowledge and skill not employment. As an engineer, I will advice you get registered by COREN & NSE. Familiarise yourself with the happenings in the Nigeria Engineering System for more clarification(if needed) or even better opportunities of employment. A training institute is a scam when it has collected your money for training and fail to train you.

You are not paying for employment but knowledge and skills. NAPTIN employed 10 of its NGSDP graduates whom i know are staff now, so get clarification. I also know 6 gr aduates of NAPTIN NGSDP recently employed in TCN. if the federal government promise to employ 189 then you should take your cries to the Presidency because you can only be employed when provisions for your salary is included in the budget of any parastal/agency.
I do not blame u at all
