donstan18:
You are not politically qualified to represent or lead if you cannot organize and put your family together.

This right here is the reason why Nigeria can never move forward with youths at the helm. A fellow youth regardless of his home difficulties puts forward ideas on youth inclusiveness in politics that is already littered with geriatrics who should be resting in some homes for the elderly and this is what you come up with. Attacking the messenger for a failed home rather than dissecting the message he presents. This right here is the problem with most youths and considering they make up a large portion of the country, the country is in trouble! I bloody hell don't care what marriage has been or not been for a candidate as that is not a prerequisite for success in life. Only Nigerians and Africans are stuck with such middle-age mentality. Can he deliver should be question? What is he planning to offer his communtity? How does he intend to influence his people? Look at Buhari...For years since 1984, he was not mentioned in Nigerian affairs save for times he contests in elections one after another. There was no place i read of the changes he did for his community, the businesses he opened to help people or scholarships offered to give his people a better future but here we are...he is president, we are complaining and rather than survey the solutions people bring to the issues bedeviling us especially the youths, you go on a personality attack. May God have mercy on you and open your eyes to the things holding you and your country back. Peace!

Politics / Re: Elections: EFCC Will Not Probe Plane Loaded With Cash Or Bullion Van Incident by JoeOdion(m): 11:46am On Mar 02, 2019
Heads would roll in civilized climes but alas...In Nigeria, EFCC receives strange calls to abandon investigations of certain corrupt people.

Economic and Financial Crimes EFCC Operatives

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been barred from investigating a private jet loaded with money on February 15, 2019, the eve of the aborted presidential and National Assembly elections, Saturday PUNCH learnt on Friday.

Information gathered has it that the plane which was billed to fly to Ilorin, Kwara State, from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos failed to take off due to the weight of the money on board.

The Plane Loaded With Cash

Multiple sources said the EFCC operatives thereafter stormed the plane after a tip-off from some people about the cargo. They demanded the source of the money, its owner and destination.

The crew was said to have informed the operatives that the money was meant for election expenses in Kwara State, but the detectives reportedly insisted on taking away the cash haul.

According to sources, “The EFCC operatives interrogated the crew and they claimed they were part of the government. They also gave a code which they assumed the operatives would understand, but the detectives insisted on taking away the money.

However, a phone call came from the Presidential Villa ordering them to hands off the matter and clear off from the scene. Shortly after, armed soldiers took over the scene and the money was transferred into another plane which took off by 10pm that night.”

The Public Relations Officer, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, could not be reached for comments on the aircraft involved in the cash movement as she did not respond to calls to her phone. She had yet to respond to a text message as of the time of filing this report.

In his reaction, the acting EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, simply explained that he saw the alleged picture of the said aircraft being shared on the social media, noting that it could have been ‘created and recreated.’

He said, “On the plane-load of cash you asked about, I saw the pictures and we know that these pictures are things that can be manipulated to achieve the purposes by their producers. All the reports from the field are being reviewed and we shall come out with our position once it is ready.”

Orilade added, “Let’s not be carried away by the activities of mischief-makers; like the acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu said, we shall continue to do the right thing to make Nigeria a better country for everyone.”

Meanwhile, findings have indicated that the EFCC may not investigate the movement of huge cash in two bullion vans by a leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on the eve of the elections.

Bullion Vans Loaded With Cash Entering Tinubu's Residence Will not be Probed

Although Tinubu admitted in an interview with journalists in Lagos that he transported the bulk money into his Ikoyi residence which is a violation of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, it was gathered that the anti-graft agency had no plan to probe the incident.

When asked about the money, the former governor said, “What is your issue with bullion vans in my house? I have not done any government business in the last five years. So I didn’t steal government money.

“And the bullion van was not said to contain election materials, so what offense have I committed? I decide where to keep it (money) and how to keep it.”

But when confronted about the matter, the EFCC spokesman said the anti-graft commission had successfully curbed vote-buying in the elections and prevented a repeat of the incidents in Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.

“You will agree with me that to a large extent, we were able to curtail vote-buying with our men conspicuously positioned at polling booths across the country in the course of the elections,” he said.

Banky W, musician and filmmaker, who contested in the recently held National Assembly election to represent Eti-Osa constituency, Lagos at the House of Representativesin a recent interview talks about his experience

What influenced your decision to go into politics?

The reason I ventured into politics was because of my desire to impact and improve my community; the desire to do more than just talk, tweet and complain about government and the issues facing young people, and the desire to be a part of the progress we all seek. Most of us say we want a better country, but that’s where we stop.

Some people think that you should have started small, probably by contesting a post in the Lagos State House of Assembly. Do you agree with them?

I think each person must decide on what their vision is, and how they want to approach its execution. For me, it wasn’t just about winning any available election. I actually went for the specific role in government that I felt I wanted to work in at this time if given the opportunity. The House of Representatives would give me an opportunity to serve the whole country as a federal lawmaker, and also to serve my local community because of the constituency development that each member of the National Assembly is responsible for. That dual role of impact at the federal and local levels is what informed my decision to attempt this race.

You weren’t elected at the end of the day. How do you feel about losing out?

I feel very grateful, even in defeat, because of the things we were able to accomplish. Just by running the kind of campaign we ran, and winning some of the major polling units in our area, especially in places like Lekki, Agungi, Idado, Northern Foreshore, Badore, etc. Even in the places where we didn’t win, we were consistently placed in the top three right alongside the two major powers that be. And we did all this with a new, unknown party with no godfather or major sponsor and in the space of three months. It shows that we can compete. You have to remember that a lot of the voters were accustomed to just picking sides between the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party. We actually earned every single vote we got, and that’s something to be proud of. We also hopefully inspired our generation enough to know that it can be done and to participate in the future. We made it to the top three in just three months; imagine what we can do with four years of consistent effort? We may not have won the election in Eti-Osa, but we won something far greater. We won their hearts.

What lessons did you learn from the exercise?

I learnt more in three months of doing politics than I have in some years put together. It was an enlightening, eye-opening experience. I learnt about people from all walks of life, and what drives them. I learnt about people in my community, from the grass roots to the top of the food chain; I learnt about their needs, issues, expectations, and dreams. I learnt about the problems in society and how I can continue to play my role in trying to fix them. I learnt more about being a leader, and what it takes to be a good one. I learnt so much in such a short period of time, that I don’t have space or time here to get into the details. I think I actually need to write some blogs about the lessons I learnt, in the hope that some will find them beneficial.

Politics / Suspension: APC Warns Members Against Alliance With Other Candidates by JoeOdion(m): 10:33pm On Mar 01, 2019

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned its members across the country against any coalition with candidates of other parties ahead of the governorship and state house of assembly elections.

This is according to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Friday during his appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television.

He said, “It is to make that statement clearly to everybody; all our members in all of these states that we don’t have an alliance with any other candidate and anybody that goes ahead to associate with any other candidate than the candidate of APC, the party will take action.”

The warning followed the suspension of the governors of Imo and Ogun States, Rochas Okorocha and Ibikule Amosun, over the allegation of anti-party activities.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party also suspended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Uguru Usani, and the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu.

While the committee recommended the expulsion of the suspended members, it queried Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, allegedly for the same offence.Defending the action of the NWC, Issa-Onilu said those suspended have embarrassed the party by their action.

He also accused them of using the party’s resources to fund the campaigns of other candidates as against those of the APC in their respective states.

The APC spokesman recalled the drama that played when President Muhammadu Buhari took his re-election campaign to Ogun State in February.

He described the incident as ‘beyond the limit’, although he commended the President for asking supporters in the state to vote for the candidates of their choice.

“We should be thankful that we have someone like him as our president,” said Issa-Onilu. “President Muhammadu Buhari is a party man; he has demonstrated that continuously, all the time.”

He added, “He would hold the hand of our candidate at all our rallies and say this is our candidate, but I am also your President.

“You have a right to choose whomever you want, and I have a responsibility to guarantee you right; that’s what the President is doing and that’s what we have never had before – a president that rises above personal interest.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians that his second term in office is going to be tough. Buhari stated this while receiving members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) who came to congratulate him for winning the Presidential election.

At the brief ceremony that started around 12 noon, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha spoke on behalf of the public service and congratulated the President and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for winning the elections.

According to him, the President’s victory was a well-deserved success as it was a referendum of honesty and sincerity. President Buhari said that he will intensify efforts in the three areas of security, economy and fighting corruption. He added:

My last lap of four years, I think is going to be tough. People are very forgetful and that’s why during the campaign, I spoke about our cardinal agenda.

Business / Re: What Is Your Worst Business Investment And How Much Did You Lose? by JoeOdion(m): 1:49am On Feb 26, 2019
Purplekush:
as a 28 yr old who was fresh out of service. I started online buisness with my blog and was raking in 250 to 300k plus per month. after like 3 months the income rose to 1mil plus and even 2.some in some months.

Then I started trying out new investments...

LONG STORY SHORT: lost 800k to MMM. By Feb when MMM was confirmed to have crashed, I went ahead to lose another 1 Million naira and 6 months trying to set up another online business.

The painful part was not the 6 months of no income but the bad timing.

because, I had already paid for some plots of land before then. Paid for my new apartment. Was about making down payment for a new Corolla 2015 model when MMM crashed... and the investment started acting funny.

I was TOTALLY SCREWED!

I come lose lappy wey I buy 250k then Acer V Nitro. I was so depressed the only thing that kept me from SUICIDE was MaryJane. I owe my life to her smiley

But then I was able to cash out around 300k plus on the 1mil investment and I am currently on another HOT NICHE and just 2 months in it i am glad to say I now make at least 9 to 15k a day.

By God's grace and if this one goes well, I should be hitting 7figures per month from next year. INSHA ALLAH! AMEN.

Nothing beats losing money to some yeye deal. It brings out the adrenaline in you.

WORD OF ADVICE TO ALL STARTERS: think Internet business. It's cheap to start and gives you room to make mistakes with less financial loses. Besides, the ROI is totally insane!

I used to have a set of video courses for pple who are always asking "show me the way" but then nobody wants to put in work. Most peeps just want free money.

Bro I would really love to learn from you through your courses. I am not just financially buoyant for the course. Just been trusting God for a way for months now as my freelance business hasn't been great.
