Some Senior Officers in Military Government want to run a Coup to overthrow The head of state and make Dr Obafemi Awolowo the president of Nigeria.

These Senior officers were from the South West region. The are the first masterminds to the coup.
But they needed someone with a heart of a lion to execute this coup.

That lion was no other than General Kaduna Nzeogwu. He agreed to be the face of the coup and carry out the teams goal to achieve the coup.

But When the coup became unsucceful
Nzeogowu realized that those south west senior officers had started chickening out of the coup idea. They betrayed Nzeogwu and made it seem like Nzeogwu was the grand architect of the coup.

Had the coup been succesful the south west will celebrate those senior officers as heros.

In Summary General Nzeogwu was betrayed and since he was igbo. They spunthe narrative that it was an "igbo" coup.
