In Nigeria, the Panama Papers' leak could be about to claim its latest high-profile victim.

Bukola Saraki, the president of the Nigerian Senate, has been caught up in the scandal relating to the leak of 11.5 million tax documents from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.

Saraki who is currently on trial in Nigeria on charges of fraud, including false declaration of assets, all of which he denies, is accused of failing to declare at least four offshore assets listed under his wife Toyin’s name.

The assets include a property in London’s plush Belgravia neighborhood, as well as two companies registered in the British Virgin Islands and a third in the Seychelles, both known tax havens, according to Nigeria’s Premium Times, a media partner in the Panama Papers investigation.

Holders of public office in Nigeria are required by law to declare their own assets, as well as those of their spouse and children under 18 years of age.

Saraki issued a statement on Monday protesting his innocence, saying that he has “fully complied with the provisions of the law” on declaration of assets. The statement said that the properties in questions were held by the family of Saraki’s wife and that “the law does not require a public officer to declare assets held by the spouse’s family.”

Combined with the ongoing fraud trial, however, the revelation is likely to heap pressure on Nigeria’s third-most powerful politician behind President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The All Progressives Congress politician previously served as the governor of Kwara state in west Nigeria between 2003 and 2011 before entering the Senate, the upper house of Nigeria’s National Assembly.

A qualified physician and former banker, he was elected as Senate president in June 2015. The issuing of an arrest warrant for Saraki in September 2015 by Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Tribunal on 13 counts of alleged corruption was the first time in Nigerian history that a sitting Senate president had been subjected to such a warrant.

The Association of Tutorial School Operators (ATSO) has accused the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of using the wrong grading software to mark the 2016/2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The group claimed that the error was responsible for the poor and conflicting results that were released by the board for the examination written between February 27 and March 17 in over 500 centres nationwide.

At a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, President of the group, Mr Shodunke Oludotun, alleged that the board erroneously used the software from last year to grade this year’s examination.

He called for the release of the right results, as well as the resignation of the JAMB Registrar, Prof ‘Dibu Ojerinde.

Oludotun said: “We have our evidence to show that virtually all the candidates we have collected results of 2015/2016 and not of 2016/2017.

“This year, Prof Dibu Ojerinde advertised 2016/2017 UTME – we all saw it. During his press conference, he also mentioned 2016/2017. During the exam, the students on their monitor, it displayed 2016/2017. Why is it that the result that was sent to the students showed 2015/2016?

“From our findings from insiders in JAMB, we realized that the software of 2015/2016 interfered with the 2016/2017, which led to the massive failure of the students. If you can see the trend of results from (February) 27 to 29, the students failed; (March) 7-15, the students failed massively.

“But we noticed that the 27-29 were compensated with 40 marks still under the interference of software. We can see that the 2015/2016 software was used to mark, that was why the students were receiving 2015/2016 results. So where is 2016/2017 result? That is what we are asking Prof Dibu Ojerinde…We are saying that Prof Dibu Ojerinde should step aside.”

Though the House of Representatives has told JAMB to revert to the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) mode of the examination since the conduct of the Computer Based Test (CBT) was fraught with irregularities, Oludotun said the group was in support of the CBT because it is better.

“This Association of Tutorial School Operators, we are not against CBT. CBT has really helped to bring more students to tutorial centres. It makes them to be serious; and we have taught them. But for CBT, the whole JAMB exam would have been messed up. Because before CBT, it will only take you N2,000 for Cyber café to send the answers to you. So I want to say that we appreciate the professor for introducing the CBT; and we are in support of CBT,”

he said.

However, he called for Ojerinde to step aside so someone else would build on the foundation he has laid to conduct hitch free examinations.

According to a Facebook user, Amanda Chisom who shared the news, the victim was lured with promises of marriage by the man who also lied to be from a royal family.

Professor Abraham Jones, of the Brigham Young University’s Faculty of Archaeology and Ethnology, who is a very important and leading historian made an extremely controversial claim on Wednessday, March 16, by announcing that his research has lead him to conclude that Jesus Christ had a total of twelve wives, who were the feminine equivalent of the apostles.

World News Daily Report reports that the historian, while meeting the press to present his new book The Family Life of Jesus Christ, presented the astonishing results of a research which took him almost eight years to complete.

“We studied not only the Bible itself, but other important Christian texts like the Holy Book of Mormon and Biblical apocrypha” said Professor Jones. “Many different writings suggest that the Christ was not only married, but polygamous. After a thorough research, we were able to determine that Jesus had a total of twelve wives, and that they played important roles in the Church while he was alive.”

According to the controversial historian, the importance of Jesus’ wives was hidden by the early Christian Church, as it became tainted with Roman misogyny.

“The Romans clearly disliked polygamy and they didn’t give much importance to the role of women,” he told reporters. “All the texts concerning his wives were removed of the biblical canon during the First Council of Nicaea in 325, or during the Council of Rome in 382. Fortunately, a few manuscripts have survived the large scale destruction that was orchestrated by the catholic Church, and we can still read the truth today.”

Professor Jones’ claim has generated a real tsunami of comments on the social media, and brought reactions from various religious organizations.

His Twitter account was literally flooded with insults after his announcement, calling him everthing from a ‘lunatic’ to a ‘heretic’ or a ‘Satan worshipper’.

Despite his association with a Mormon university, he has received little support, even from his employers or other members of the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter-day Saints, who have mostly taken their distances from him.

The Police Command in Enugu on Sunday confirmed the electrocution of a paint factory owner and an electrician in Nsukka.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, made the confirmation in a statement he issued in Enugu and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN,

Amaraizu said that the incident occurred on Friday at Uwani-Ugwu-Umuakashi community in Nsukka Local Government Area.

“Uwani-Ugwu-Umuakashi community in Nsukka was thrown into mourning following the recovery of two corpses from a well located inside a paint factory in the community.

“It was identified that one Samuel Ezema now deceased had allegedly invited the co-deceased identified as Emmanuel to effect repairs on his faulty factory water pumping machine located inside a well in the factory.

“And, as he was effecting the repairs on the sumo machine, he got electrocuted alongside the owner of the factory who had gone inside the well to assist him,’’ he said.

He said that the police had begun investigation into the incident, and that the corpses had been deposited at Faith Foundation Hospital Mortuary, Nsukka, for autopsy.

Instagram user, Chemere Armstrong had a severe allergic reaction after using a Henna hair dye. The photos she posted shows her face swollen and her her eyes completely shut. In the caption of the photo, Armstrong who is also a a health and fitness vlogger describes the scary ordeal;

"If you been following me for a while you know that I tried to be as transparent as possible. You will also know that my 100 days of just juice and smoothies has been very important to me. Today is day 100!!! The past couple of days has been extremely rough. I mention before that I die my hair with Henna because of my research and what I was told that it was supposed to be completely natural and chemical free but it wasn't and I had a severe allergic reaction as you can see from the pictures. I'm not posting this for any advice or any negative comments. I'm fully aware of what these pictures look like. I had to endure this nightmare. If you do not have anything nice to say please keep strolling. I want to let everyone that pray for me or send me well-wishes know what was going on. I was in severe pain from my scalp burning and itching with my face completely's swollen to the point I was unrecognisable. The most scary part about this whole thing is that my eyes was completely swollen shut where I couldn't see for 2 days.
