Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President of Nigeria, announced the appointment of Dr. Ngozi-Okonjo well know as finance minister and professor Chukwuma Soludo's appointment as Governor of the Central Bank was one of his best of his tenure.

Obasanjo said so during a speech at City Hall marking Soludo's first anniversary as governor of Anambra in Awka on Saturday.

He said he had been accused of possibly ruining the country over the appointment of two Southeast technocrats by those suffering from "Igbo phobia", but pointed out that they were spearheading the country's best economic era .

He said Soludo had done well as CBN chairman and attributed the current crisis to the bank's inability to function as the development bank it was.

Obasanjo praised Soludo's annual management report and said he had no doubts about Soludo's ability to serve as governor of Anambra.

As an elderly tatesman, he described Soludo as a man with a passion for Anambra who decided to run for governor when he saw the potential to serve nationally and internationally

He urged Soludo to continue his efforts in the agricultural sector and work towards making Anambra the headquarters for palm and cassava production in Nigeria.

Appeal to the people of Anambra to continue supporting Soludo so that he can carry out his noble policies for the state.

In his presentation, Soludo said he was looking into complaints from some teachers who were fired early in his tenure in 2022.

He said this is in addition to the 5,000 teachers already hired by his government to end the era of teacherless schools.

The Governor said that human resources will remain the best asset of Anambra and nothing will be left unfinished so that the education system in public institutions undergo a strong human capital transformation.

He said the transformation of the state's infrastructure was underway, with approximately 260 kilometers of roads interspersed through it and at various stages of completion.

Soludo stated that large plots of land were acquired in different locations for an industrial area, a pharmaceutical area and an export trade center.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu in his introductory speech, condemned " the unjustified attacks on the Igbos", particularly in Lagos.

Iwuanyanwu, chairman of the Ohanaeze Elders Forum, said the Igbos would not accept dismissal anywhere because they are genuine Nigerians with full citizenship rights.
