Thanks for the clarification. You are right. One member from the traveling party can submit on behalf of the entire party. My mum lives in Lagos and got her IW appointment in Abuja. Because she is older, we initially considered sending her passport to Abuja and have a family member who lives in Abuja but is not traveling with her submit on her behalf. However, after the challenges of getting an IW appointment and not wanting to risk DHL rejecting her passport and documents because a family member was submitting for her, we decided that it would be worthwhile for her to travel to Abuja to submit herself. But you are right, if she was applying/traveling to the US with another family member, there would be no need for both of them to make the trip to Abuja. Thanks again for clarifying. I hope this information is helpful to folks on here. wuki: |
It is possible although chances may be slim. The earliest dates now are in the first quarter of 2024. If you really want to get an earlier date, you will have to schedule an appointment now and then check back frequently to see if earlier dates open up when other people reschedule or if the embassy makes earlier dates available. Good luck! Franca04: |
It is the DHL office at Heritage House, Wuse Zone 3. The list of documents required to support your visa application depends on the class of visa you are applying for and this information is on the appointment confirmation letter that you receive when you schedule your visa appointment. My mum applied for a B1/B2 visa and the documents she was asked to submit included the appointment confirmation letter, passport containing the expired visa, original MRV receipt, DS-160 confirmation page, & 2 passport photographs. ozymes: |
Do not lie on your application. Include your true age on your application and all accompanying documents. If the VO asks, tell him the truth -- your brother made a mistake about your age when he completed and submitted his PR/GC/citizenship applications. It is as simple as that. AyoitsMub: |
Hey guys! I have gotten valuable information from this thread so I figure I will give back. I know some folks had questions about the IW submission process in Abuja. My mum had her IW appointment in Abuja this morning. She submitted her documents at the DHL office and not the Embassy as we initially assumed. She was there for about 90 minutes before she was attended to. They checked her documents and everything was good. I know some on this thread had questions about whether a proxy can submit on behalf of the applicant, especially an older applicant. My mum told me that a woman at DHL this morning asked the same question and the DHL worker said it is not possible. The applicant has to submit in person. I will update when there is more information. Good luck everyone! |
B1/B2 visa renewal without interview meljoe: |
I checked the box for B1/B2 visa without interview on the website, answered the next set of questions, inputted the MRV receipt info, and when the list of available dates was shown to me, I selected a date that worked for her. Payati: |

Hi everyone, I apologize in advance because I imagine this question may have already been asked and answered but I couldn’t find a response on previous pages, hence my question. My mum has her IW appointment on April 14, 2022 in Abuja. However, I would like to know if she has to submit her documents at the US Embassy or DHL office in Abuja. The appointment letter states that her appointment is at the US Embassy on Diplomatic Drive but the last paragraph of the letter also states “The DHL document collection office locations shown below is only authorized to accept and deliver your documents to the Embassy/Consulate General...”. Because of this, I am not sure where she should submit her documents. For folks who have done their IW in Lagos or Abuja, did you submit your docs at the Embassy or DHL office? Thanks in advance! |
