Regardless of what the President's wife meant regarding small-scale businesses such as selling akara, many Nigerians find the statement insulting and disconnected from reality.
Today, millions of graduates are engaged in commercial motorcycle (okada) businesses and other menial jobs because suitable employment opportunities are unavailable. The very purpose of obtaining a degree has been undermined by the lack of jobs that match people's qualifications.
What happened to the industries that once provided employment? Why are many industries struggling or shutting down? Why is Nigeria's education system declining, producing graduates with various degrees but with little opportunity to apply their knowledge for meaningful national development?
With all these challenges, it is disappointing that the solution often highlighted by leaders is for people to engage in small businesses such as akara selling. While there is nothing wrong with entrepreneurship, citizens expect policies that create sustainable jobs, revive industries, and provide an environment where education translates into economic opportunities.
Furthermore, many women involved in small-scale trading face harassment and insecurity due to the conditions under which they operate. Their challenges deserve serious attention and support rather than statements that may appear to trivialize the broader economic difficulties facing the country.

I am deeply concerned about the state of security in our country. The numerous meetings and discussions do not mean much to me if they do not translate into effective action. Security is too important to be treated as a political issue.
I find it difficult to understand policies that involve the rehabilitation and reintegration of former Boko Haram members, especially when there are discussions about giving them roles connected to national security. Many citizens worry about the potential risks and believe that leaders should prioritize public safety, justice, and the trust of the people.
Leadership requires wisdom, integrity, and sensitivity to the concerns of citizens. Those entrusted with public office should always act in the best interest of the nation. Ultimately, every leader is accountable for the decisions they make, both before the people and before God
