They are not socially segregated like in South Africa. When you go to an event, you will find Mozambicans of different races mingling together. I was oblivious to the fact that I was posting a certain group of people. Anyways here are young Black Mozambicans

The Mozambican government has plans to construct 10 new airports in the country (YES!, I said 10). Two new airports have already built and one new international airport is currently under construction in another city.

This is the new airport for the capital, Maputo. The Mozambican government still has plans to expand this airport

My problem with you,is when you use the word 'grow'.
If am not mistaken,'most' of the pictures here, are private investments(private sector driven),and others perharps, are projects executed under PPP/BOT.Let me say this,it is a welcomed development, but please, how is the life of an average Mozambican,in terms of availability of government institutions and its accessibilty by the masses.
You can't talk of growth,without those critical things that heralds it,such as;
Good learning facilities, for intellectual growth,Agriculture to curb hunger, and good roads to transport farm produce. You can't talk of the development of a nation, without first talking about the 'needfull'.
If you fail to provide education for your people, and build five star hotels for them in the name of 'development',all you are doing is 'producing harlots and hotel robbers'.Africa must stop Voodoo economy.
Ok Boss. I understand where you are coming from.

Op this looks good. I like to see African countries making progress.

I see that southern african countries are moving faster than west and east africa in terms of development.

But u just showed the upper class expatriate side.

Can we see the average Maputo?
These are NOT expatriates but middle income Mozambicans. It is true that most Mozambicans are poor but if you are familiar with Mozambique's history you will be impressed with how far this country has come. Turn the time to a decade ago, this country never had all these amenities you are seeing now. The country was was in total destitute. It was named as a failed state by international agencies but look at the country now. To add to that, this country is NOT exporting any oil. A lesson for others to diversify their economies and stop relying on a primary source.

''Because the country and its people have a Latin American flair''.

The stupidity of black man!.
When will Africans learn to be themselves?.
When are we going to be proud of our color and heritage and culture, and stop this stupid flair of a thing?.

@topic;
please, development doesn't mean building big houses, that ordinary citizen of Mozambique cant ordinarily access.
Please, show me pictures of good roads, good health care facilities, clean bore-holes,good markets and schools, etc.these are the primary needs of an average human being, with Africans and Mozambicans(quans) not being exceptional.

Africa must learn to prioritize their common needs.

Please don't get me wrong!.
I did not conclude it was; maybe you should peruse the thread to help squash your assumption. The purpose of this thread was to showcase a different side of Africa that is not Anglo-Saxon. It is beneficial to be aware of what is going on. That is all!

In terms of relevance to the economy of theworld, angola and rwanda has little or no effect.
A collapse of these countries economy wnt affect anyone except it's citizen.
I read on NL recently about angola's fast economic development wich we both know is because of there increase exploration of oil making them the highest producer in africa but does it's citizen feel the change?
Though i hardly read.or hear about these countries, I usually still tink they are still at war esp rwanda.

himkers:
phucking says who?? mozambique (like 4yrs back) was the poorest country in the world. So tell me bro, which economy are you talking about?

According to United Nation's 2011 Human Development Report, Mozambique is the fourth poorest country in the world.
Mozambique was the poorest country in the world in 1992 due to not only one but two civil wars. In addition, the effects of floods and bankruptcy impeded the country from developing in the 90's which left the country in an abysmal state. The country during that era was literally relying on donors to support itself. The rise in the economy was provenance from the former president, Joaquim Chissano who stabilized the political climate of the country and opened its doors to foreign investment.

There is no denying that this country is one of the world's poorest (though it is NOT the fourth poorest like you claim) but its rate of development surpasses most African countries. Please, let me reiterate that this country does not export energy resources. The fact is that this country is developing much better than most African countries and if you follow the news, you would have been aware that it is one of the fastest growing economies in the world according to economists and statisticians. Please update yourself. wink

hmm shocked, Last time i checked, the global recession did not affect countries like Germany and Swiss. Same goes for Angola and Rwanda.

Nigeria has become like America in recent years; you must hustle round the clock to stay above water.
In regards to your question:grin Do not make me laugh with your query.

In response to your second statement:Nothing comes easy in life. One of the reasons Europe is in a crisis is due to their lackadaisical culture.

undecided Sad. However, I will also like other news medium that publicize development in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Angola e.t.c to also focus on Mozambique. Not too many know there is something going on in this country. Some people still assume they are still in a civil war.

Tell us more about the economy
Phantonce, in all honesty, I am too lazy to go into details grin but its economy is one of the fastest growing in the world. The global recession did not affect its growth and its currency value is one of the strongest on the African continent.

In a couple of years, the country will start producing natural gas which will further boost its growth. It is one of the countries to look-out-for in the near future.

City Mall in Maputo. This is going to be the largest mall in Mozambique and one of the largest on the African continent. They say it is being constructed on the outskirts of the capital.

It is due to be completed by 2016

The newly built airport in the city of Nacala. Nacala is another city which is getting so many infrastructure projects from roads, malls, office to real estate. That city is booming with development. This airport will be an international airport once it is finished.

Pls, Op, apart from the capital, is there other places there that has some semblance of development? Just curious
Well, as you can clearly see, they are currently building a brand new city which is not something many African countries can/are do/doing.

You have to remember that this country experienced a 20 year civil war which ended in 1992 which made it the poorest country in the world. Moreover, they are not exporting any energy resource unlike Nigeria or Angola or Equatorial Guinea.

I find their development progesss to be very complimentary.

They are also currently improving their infrastructure on transportation such as rails, roads, airports, as well as Public Health, Education and Retail - Shopping malls, in other cities as well.

So before you want to start comparing, it will be good to consider some things. This country has been through hell and they are doing a good job - better than most African countries.
