Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) is the first and only player to have won the African player of the year four times consecutively while playing for English premiership giant Manchester City after his move from Barcelona in 2010.

Yaya Toure and Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon) have both won the award four times each. Eto’o won three times consecutively from 2003-2005 and later in 2010 while Yaya Toure won four times consecutively from 2011-2014 making him the player that have won the award most consecutively.

Toure made his debut with the Ivory Coast national team in 2004 and took over then as captain from Didier Drogba ten years later in 2014 and helped his nation to win the nations cup in 2015 for the first time in 23 years. He represented his country 6 times in the nation’s cup and had 101 caps before hanging up his boots.

Various churches in Nigeria compete for members and retreats or conventions are organized yearly where the faithful come for prayers or to thank God for all the good he has done. Two of the biggest Pentecostal churches in Nigeria,namely Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) are not left out and hold retreats or conventions every year.

The largest of such gathering is the Holy Ghost convention that is held every first week of August by the RCCG (Nigeria), which attracts a congregation of more than 3 million for the one week program. Millions of the faithful that could not attend the program in the church headquarters at the Lagos Ibadan expressway watch from their television set through a broadcast from the church satellite broadcast.
The General overseer or Daddy G.O as he is fondly called, Reverend Enoch Adeboye has been the head of the church since 1982 and has overseen its growth to its present level, where a branch of the church is reputed to be within a five minute walk from another in Nigeria.

It is Pastor Adeboye’s vision that not only a branch of the church will be planted within a five minute walk from another but branches of the church will be spread all over the world. The vision has largely been achieved because the RCCG has branches in all continents and has presence in 192 countries.

During the convention, pastors are invited from far and near to preach, convert and pray for the large congregation and new pastors and workers in the church are ordained.
