While growing up there were a lot of fun games but this was really mind blowing. All the enthusiasm and vigour we applied to it made it more interesting. You will see guys around a single locker then waiting for their respective turns. Some even went to the extent of making bets. There were others but this particular one was my favourite. Your Childhood was really awful if you never played this game. True or False

Just like Wizkid’s claim that he is responsible for making Saeon’s ‘Boogie down’ a hit, Davido has made a similar controversial statement that is causing ripples online. The BET award-winning pop star was featured by label mate, B-Red on his new single titled ‘Twerk’ and in the song, Davido says: ‘…she dey dance ooo, but she forget say na me make Shoki blow oooo.’ Before the release of B-Red’s ‘Twerk’ song, Davido was featured on the remix of Lil Kesh’s ‘Shoki’ alongside Olamide which dropped in July 2014 while the original version of the song dropped in March 2014. For 2014, ‘Shoki’ has been one of the stand-out songs with singers, Orezi and Dre San also producing their own versions of the song. At the moment none of the different ‘Shoki’ singers including Lil Kesh has responded to Davido’s claim of making ‘Shoki’ a hit. |

South Africa head coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba has dismissed speculations that he will be fielding a weak starting lineup against Nigeria in Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Even though the Afcon 2013 hosts have booked a place in the championship billed for Equatorial Guinea, the former South Africa U17 tactician insists that his side will be aiming to end the qualifying series without defeat. "First, we don’t have to break the momentum of the team and I must tell you that the players called up for this game are here on merit,” Mashaba told Goal. "We will not parade a weak team against Nigeria because we want to continue with our impressive form and we are looking forward to winning this game. "Though we’ve already booked a place to the Nations Cup, my side will be hoping to end the qualifying series on a high note." South Africa are yet to secure a competitive win against the Super Eagles since the end of apartheid but Mashaba insists the game billed for the Akwa Ibom Stadium will definitely be a different affair. "Yesterday, today, and tomorrow will never be the same. What happened yesterday shouldn’t be used as a yardstick to determine what will happen tomorrow. "You are aware we’re building a new team, that is why you can see these junior players and their achievement tells you where the confidence is coming from. “We played the Eagles to a goalless draw in Cape Town and all people could say was that my side was fortunate. This time around, we will be hoping to play the best of football and hopefully get a win,” he concluded. South Africa will be missing the services of Thulani Serero and Lehlohonolo Majoro for this crunch game. The duo have been ruled out due to injury. The match starts at 6pm in Uyo. |
It was 21 months ago when a triumphant Nigeria side lifted the Africa Cup of Nations title in front of a packed Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg. February 10, 2013 will always be remembered as the day the Super Eagles returned to the pinnacle of the African game, almost two decades since they last tasted victory at senior level. The fact that Stephen Keshi’s men took their lap of victory in Johannesburg, the city where they were denied the pleasure of defending their title in 1996, made it all the more fulfilling. Due to the diplomatic differences between the governments of both countries that year, Nigeria decided against defending the title they won in 1994 in Tunisia. That action left the door open for Bafana Bafana to win their first-ever African title as they trumped all comers in their most glorious period on the international stage. A largely unknown side led by coach Clive Barker shocked the big names including Ghana and Tunisia to win in front of a cheering crowd inside the FNB Stadium. As Neil Tovey lifted the trophy with Nelson Mandela beaming, after Mark Williams’s brace gave them victory in the final, many Nigerians could only watch with envy via pirated signals as the military government of Sani Abacha banned all references to the tournament. Nigeria’s golden generation had been denied the opportunity to defend their crown and the country’s game suffered for 19 years before that triumphant return to Johannesburg. As the Super Eagles regained fame, Bafana’s fortunes, it seemed, kept going into progressive decline: second place in 1998, third place in 2000, quarter final in 2002, group stages in 2004, 2006, 2008, failed to qualify in 2010 and 2012, and the quarter finals in 2013, when they only qualified as hosts. A change of hands in 2014 saw coach Gordon Igesund make way for Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba, and Bafana began a resurgence. They won their first Afcon qualifier away in Sudan and unsurprisingly held Nigeria, who had lost their first game at home to Congo, to a goalless draw. Meyiwa | Bafana will miss his inspiration Suddenly, the vibe in the Rainbow nation was all about seeing their team finally qualify for a tournament by field work. In their next game, away to Congo, they won 2-0 and shot to the top of the table following another goalless draw in the reverse fixture. By the time they ended the game against Sudan last weekend, despite the tragedy that befell their captain Senzo Meyiwa, South Africa had qualified for the tournament with a game to spare. It was impressive by any yardstick, considering that reigning champions Nigeria were almost eliminated but for some gruelling second half reawakening in Pointe-Noire against Congo. Where Bafana have always been the whipping boys for the Super Eagles, they now stand monster-like in the way of the three-time champions and a place at Equatorial Guinea 2015. How the tables have turned. While this is just a football game, one cannot fail to see that South Africa have come to Nigeria bearing many burdens. Having recently lost the title of Africa’s biggest economy to their west African rivals, perhaps Bafana will see this as an opportunity to effectively take the football title from Nigeria. There has also been the recent diplomatic issues that arose after the deaths of about 84 South African worshippers at a Lagos megachurch. Talk among Bafana fans back home is revenge for the deaths of their compatriots. Defeat to the Super Eagles would see Congo go through if they get at least a point in Khartoum. Dean Furman and his team mates, without the injured Thulani Serero, would fancy themselves causing havoc to Nigeria’s Afcon dreams and putting their names in the history books as the first South African side to beat the Eagles in a competitive game. Despite losing Hope Akpan and Godfrey Oboabona, Nigeria go into this game with confidence from their 2-0 away win in Pointe-Noire where they survived attack by angry fans. Champions are made of sterner stuff and if the Super Eagles are to defend their crown in President Obiang’s country in January, then they must first slay the Bafana threat in Uyo. |

The Akwa Ibom International Stadium will play host to the 11th meeting between Nigeria and South Africa. The local support will hope it follows the trend of the majority of the others: only once has Bafana Bafana beaten the Super Eagles in the previous ten encounters. Not that anyone can afford to take a win for granted though. Stephen Keshi had a straightforward task coming into this international week: beat Congo by (at least) two goals and equal the Red Devils’ result on the final matchday against Sudan. Half the job is done, it was nervy and heart-stopping at numerous points, but the African champions seized their moments and made important switches to turn the game. Once the relief and euphoria of that result dissipated, focus turned quickly to the unbeaten group leaders. Shakes Mashaba’s side have looked impressive in qualifying, 11 points out of 15 available and just the one goal conceded. Any suggestion that Bafana Bafana might take their foot off the gas is quickly dispelled by the determination Mashaba has to end South Africa’s risible record against the Super Eagles. The 64-year-old is well aware that a win over Nigeria will conclusively win over the few critics that remain, and legitimize his long-term project. “I know people will think it is going to be a walkover; no we are going to put our best team,” said the former U-23 gaffer to Kick Off, “it is more than three points that is at stake when we go to Nigeria.” His ‘best team’ will likely be the same 11 that overcame a stubborn Sudan in Durban, skippered by the impressive Dean Furman, who surely will not be turning out for Doncaster Rovers much longer. His partnership with Andile Jali at the base of midfield has been key to South Africa’s defensive excellence so far. Oupa Manyisa came into the side on Saturday and was brilliant, threatening with his ball skills and movement. In him and Thulani Serero, Bafana Bafana have enough creativity and flair to cause Nigeria problems between the lines. Mashaba | Realises the importance of victory over Nigeria There is a long-standing lack of compactness in the Super Eagles midfield. Keshi is already without Hope Akpan, who injured his shoulder in the win over Congo, and may be forced to hand a debut to Sharks midfielder Joseph Nathaniel. Eskisehirspor midfielder Raheem Lawal, also a fitness doubt, is an option but, like Ogenyi Onazi, is better at covering ground than being disciplined positionally. In defence, Keshi also has worries. Godfrey Oboabona is suspended for the game, meaning Kenneth Omeruo will go straight into the centre of defence alongside Azubuike Egwuekwe, having recovered from his knock. In terms of style, these two should complement each other better: the Warri Wolves’ man is often reckless, and would do better with a calmer player alongside. Congo’s forward play caused problems on Saturday, but they were undone by poor finishing. In this sense, perhaps it was good preparation for what to expect come Wednesday; Tokelo Rantie and Bongani Ndulula are willing runners and grafters, but not particularly efficient finishers. That said, the Bournemouth striker took his goal against Sudan with delightful ease. On the other hand, the Super Eagles frontline is brimming with goal threat, and it is here that Keshi has his biggest headache. The only shoo-in is Ahmed Musa, whose brace vanquished Sudan in Abuja. The CSKA man can frustrate on occasion, but his pace and calm finishing is invaluable in attack, and he was the brightest player when both teams met in September. Ikechukwu Uche made an immediate impact on his return to the national team, scoring from the penalty spot and showing inventiveness in tight spaces; he should start. This leaves one spot open. Usually, we would have Emmanuel Emenike down as first pick in attack, but the Fenerbahce man has been in poor form and left a lot to be desired in Pointe-Noire. Goal Nigeria's James Ezimoha is just one commentator to have argued for the striker's exclusion against Bafana Bafana. Emenike | Is he contributing enough for the Super Eagles? He was brought down to win the penalty which put the Super Eagles ahead, but whether that is enough to balance the fact that he was poor in possession and listless without it is up for debate. An incident in the second half was worrying: Emenike gave the ball away needlessly, forcing Onazi to halt the resulting attack with a foul. Keshi berated him from the technical area, to which the striker appeared to angrily gesticulate he could be substituted. The Big Boss duly obliged. There may be nothing to it, but if that was an accurate representation of what transpired, then one can understand why it would be counterproductive to start Emenike. This may see goal-hero Aaron Samuel, who is hitting a goal a game in the green and white, trusted with a starting position. Whoever starts, the Super Eagles are condemned to win in Uyo. The new stadium will host only its second international, having opened to fanfare earlier this month. There is always the temptation to dismiss the threat of South Africa, and have grown accustomed to putting them 'in their place', often with surprising ease. Nigerians will hope their national side once more serve up a reason to celebrate, preferably without the heartache that came with the Congo game |
i vote divepen i vote divepen i vote divepen #TeamDivepen all the way |
alphaconde:nice talk bro |
MadCow1:hmm Mikel Mikel Mikel!!!! everywhere he made an assist against Sudan, made an incisive through ball to emenike . In the last two games Nigeria played Mikel has been effective . I think with the introduction of hope akpan, Mikel hatred in the heart of Nigerians will be reduced. |
The falling price of oil is an omen of discomfort for many countries, particularly the oil-dependent countries. And with about 80 percent of its earnings from oil, the Nigerian Government has started to unveil policies that will help to cushion the effect of the global oil crises. Are the measures announced by the FG enough to ensure that the common man does not feel the impact of the price decline? What are your thoughts? |
CallmeKola:lolzzz if u never closed the freezer to see when the light will off. |
tbaba1234:Agreed Ambrose is an issue. I think Egwekwe's major problem is his inability to think fast and make quick decisions |
tbaba1234: |
Anyi3:the main job of a Centre Forward is to score goals not to make assist for mid fielders or defenders. is he Giroud, even if I'm not mistaken, Giroud's goals for arsenal alone surpasses that of Emenike for both Club and Country. |
Goke7:that is why he is misbehaving, I'm sure if he is dropped for once he will fasten his sit belt |
