Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has reportedly submitted his nomination form, despite alleged fallout between him and the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Bola Tinubu.
According to Dele Momodu, he submitted the form on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ambode is alleged to have lost his good standing with the political godfather, Tinubu, who has gone on to select another candidate, Jide Sanwo-Olu, thereby denying Ambode, a second term in office.
The incumbent Lagos governor picked the APC nomination and expression of interests forms on Monday in Abuja.
The aspirants, who were former commissioners in the state, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and Jide Sanwoolu, were said to have claimed to have Tinubu’s backing.
The incumbent governor, Ambode, was also said to have the APC national leader’s backing when he declared on Monday.
Thereafter, two other aspirants, Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat Obafemi have also picked their forms.
Meanwhile, Lagos Peoples Democratic Party, have allegedly offered the party’s ticket to businessman, Femi Otedola and it is reported that he has accepted the offer.

Nigerian man expresses thanks to woman who returned his money back to him
- The man had mistakenly sent a sum of one million naira to the lady's bank account
A Nigerian man has taken to social media to search for a woman who did him a favour. The man expressed that he would like to show his gratitude to her after she made returned a sum of one million naira back to him.
The man identified as Otuto Ekekwe took to his Facebook page to announce that he needs help to find a lady he identified as Abikoye Oluwatobiloba.
According to Ekekwe, the woman had returned a sum of one million naira back to him after he mistakenly transferred it into her account. He revealed that the incident had occured on Saturday, September 8.
Ekekwe who couldn't go to the bank to make complains had called the bank about the mistake, was told to report the incident on Monday, September 11.
However, the lady had gone to the bank to get his account number to refunded the man's money back to him.
The young man further added on his Facebook page that he would like to see the lady to show his appreciation. He asked people to help him find her and notify her about his request to meet her.

Defectors from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to other political parties have been described by President Muhammadu Buhari as selfish and weakest members who could not align with the vision of his administration.
Vanguard reports that the president made the statement during his acceptance of the expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the 2019 presidential election on the platform of the ruling party from a political group known as Nigerian Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAN), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
NAIJ.com gathers that President Buhari said the hopeless state of the country, which started in 2006, propelled him to contest for the presidential election in 2007.
He said: “I am honoured today to receive youths from all over the country contributing to buy the form for me. The weakest whose sense of expectation do not align with our vision have exited our party. We now have a party of strong and patriotic people who are ready to work for a strong Nigeria.”
In his opening remarks, the deputy chairman of NCAN, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, said the group that purchased the forms for Buhari was made up of three million Nigerians.
According to him, these group of people contributed as little as N68 to purchase the form after a triple A assessment of the performance of the president.
He added that the president's commitments to fight against corruption, fight against terrorism and rejuvenation of the economy, convinced the group to purchase the forms for the president.

Have you ever been curious about the history of Abeokuta? Then let us tell you all we know about this of almost half a million people.
In case you did not know, ‘Abeokuta’ actually means ‘Rfuge Among Rocks’. In 1830, Shodeke (also spelled as Sodeke), who was the leader f Egba refugees fleeing from the crumbling Oyo Empire, came to the place where modern Abeokuta stands today and founded his town under the famous Olumo Rock.
The settlers then scattered across the open country among its many rocks and formed a confederacy of several distinct groups, with each group preserving its religious rites and traditional customs.
Even though the first settlers were of Egba origin, they were not the only ones who came to Abeokuta. Other Yoruba tribes also found their way to the settlement. About a decade later, Sierra Leone Creoles came to the town, along with British Anglican and Baptist missionaries, and settled there as well.
As this was the first place where the Egbas settled, Abeokuta became their capital. The city was a crucial link in the palm oil trade between Lagos and Ibadan. This fact made the Dahomey Kingdom angry, which led to multiple wars in the region.
One of the most prominent battles of that era was the Battle of Abeokuta of 1851. Egba, along with the missionaries and with help from the British, managed to defeat the Dahomey incursion led by King Gezo. There was another battle in 1864, which also resulted in the defeat of Dahomey. What was particularly interesting about these fights was that women warriors fought fiercely alongside men.
The following years were also quite tumultuous for the town. The 1860s saw the rise of conflicts with the British in Lagos. This led to the Egba closing the trade routes and later expelling the European traders and missionaries in 1867.
However, people of Abeokuta did not have much time to rest after that. The next few decades were occupied by the 1877-1893 Yoruba civil wars, where Abeokuta stood up against Ibadan. After the wars were over Egba alake (meaning ‘king’) signed an alliance with Sir Gilbert Carter, who was a British governor at the time. This granted independence for the Egba United Government, which lasted from 1893 to 1914. In 1914, Abeokuta became a part of the British colony in Nigeria.
Once again, there was no peace for Abeokuta, as 1918 brought riots, when people protested against the levying of taxes, as well as against the ruling of the British governor-general Lord Frederick Lugard, which resulted in alake becoming the supreme traditional leader. To compare, before the ruling, he was considered to be the first among equals. After it, however, he held all the cards, which was detrimental for other quarter chiefs.
The next big event happened in the 1940s, when the Abeokuta Women’s Union led a revolt against unfair taxes of the Nigerian colonial government.
Then, in 1976, Ogun State was created, and Abeokuta became its capital.
Abeokuta, Nigeria, retained its importance as a trade centre to this day. It specialises in trade of agricultural products, such as cassava, yams, cotton, rice, corn, palm kernels and oil, as well as fruits and vegetables. It is also an exporting point for palm produce, kola nuts, fruits and cocoa.
The town does not have a very well-developed local industry, but there is a number of fruit canning plants and sawmills, as well as an aluminium-products factory, a brewery and a plastics factory. Abeokuta is also known for its Ewekoro cement plant, along with the Aro granite quarries that provide a big chunk of Southern Nigeria with building materials.
You can still see the glimpses of history of Abeokuta in its traditional crafts. People of the town continue with their cotton weaving and dyeing the same way their ancestors did it many decades ago. If you want to catch more of the city’s history, you can also find some remnants of the old wall that surrounded Abeokuta.

There is trouble in paradise as man caught his wife on their matrimonial bed with another man.
A Kenyan man simply known as Dickson Samba was alleged to have caught his wife in bed with another man when he came home without informing her beforehand. The man unfortunately died in the fight that ensued after the confrontation.
Dickson on returning home caught his wife on another man. As the man of the house, he bagan fighting the man over what is his in a fierce exchange of punches at their home in Umoja Estate, Nairobi.
But alas, he fell off the balcony of his house during the fight and unfortunately died from the injuries he sustained from the fall
According to eyewitnesses, they alleged that his wife’s boyfriend overpowered him and threw him over the rails of the balcony of the 4th floor. It was reported that the deceased husband fell down landing on his head and was said to have died on the spot because of the injuries he sustained from the fall.

Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje will on Friday, September 7, accompany the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomole to pay a visit to former Kano state governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau ahead of his official defection to the APC on Saturday, September 8.
The national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a number of other party members would accompany the ruling party leaders.
It was earlier reported that the former Kano state governor was set to return to his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the insistence of the PDP national headquarters of the party to dissolve the state executives without recourse to due process and despite a court restraining order.
According to the report, Shekarau's decision became imperative over what the onetime minister of education termed “lack of internal democracy in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

Nigerian Army troop raided a Boko Haram hideout in Amdaga Madachi village, Gwoza LGA, Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army have raided a hideout used by Boko Haram terrorists in Amdaga Madachi village, Gwoza local government area, Borno state.
The development was made public in a statement signed by the director of Army public relations, Brig Gen Texas Chukwu.
In the statement released to
NAIJ.com , Chukwu disclosed that the troops killed 14 terrorists and rescued 21 civillians during the raid.
The statement read: “Troops of 192 Battalion of 26 Task Force Brigade of Operation Lafiya Dole in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force neutralised 14 Boko Haram terrorists in a village suspected to harbour terrorists that ambushed a civilian vehicle in Pulka on Wednesday 5th September 2018.
“The troops attained the feat on Thursday, 6th September 2018, during an early hours clearance operation to Amdaga Madachi village in Gwoza local governmnent area in Borno state suspected to habour the terrorists.
“The troops engaged and subdued the terrorists following a superior fire power of troops in the village. Their aggressive posture, tactics and marksmanship resulted in the following: (a) the troops neutralised 14 Boko Haram terrorists; (b) rescued 21 civilians (6 women, 11 children, 4 men who are being attended to at the military hospital).
“The acting general officer commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu, through the commander of 26 Task Force, Brigade Brigadier General Dahiru, has commended the troops for their gallantry, urging them to maintain the momentum by taking out all Boko Haram terrorists within the division area of responsibility.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Nigerian Army said it had unraveled a Facebook and other social media accounts allegedly used by a faction of the Boko Haram group to recruit new members.

Emerging reports claimed that men of Nigerian Police Force on Tuesday, September 4, raided the Abuja residence of Federal Commissioner for Information and south south leader, Chief Edwin Clark.
Vanguard reports that the police who searched all the rooms of the Elder statesman, alleged that they were in the house to search for arms which they accused him of keeping.

A report by Leadership newspapers indicates that former Kano state governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, is set to return to his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the report, the decision became imperative over what the onetime minister of education termed “lack of internal democracy in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
Shekarau also cited injustice by the party headquarters to Kano PDP members and elders as responsible, in part, for his decision.
Media side to the former governor, Sule Yau Sule, while confirming the development said Shekarau left the PDP due to the insistence of the national headquarters of the party to dissolve the state executives without recourse to due process and despite a court restraining order.
He explained that Shekarau is already consulting with his supporters on the next line of action and the party to move to.
“My boss has met Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in Abuja and they have discussed,” said Sule Yau Sule.
The PDP had on Monday, September 3, appointed a caretaker committee for Kano state after dissolving the part structure last Friday, August 31.
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of the state who recently dumped the APC for PDP, is set to take over the structure of the state chapter of the party at the expense of Shekarau.
With his proposed move to the APC, Shekarau may have dumped his presidential ambition, as the ruling party had announced that incumbent Muhammadu Buhari, has the first right of refusal in the presidential contest.
Just recently, Shekarau had expressed confidence that the huge number of presidential aspirants vying for the PDP's ticket in the 2019 presidential election would not lead to the party’s implosion.
He stated this in a statement
after a condolence visit to the governor of Bayelsa state , Seriake Dickson, on the demise of his mother, at his Toru-Orua country home in Sagbama local government area of the state.

Shampi Finger grew up in poverty and never went to school

A 32-year-old Free State man started his own business rather than depend on social grants from the government.
Shampi Finger grew up in poverty and never went to school, Daily Sun reports. As a result, he started off with menial jobs in the construction industry.
However, he didn't let his harsh upbringing deter him. He discovered that he has a talent for fixing broken heaters.

Furthermore, Shampi realised that people in his Batho township in Mangaung had to travel long distances to have their heaters fixed.
The enterprising man therefore started his own heater-fixing business three years ago. The income he makes is now enough to support him, his girlfriend, and their two children.
In the summer, Shampi keeps business going by repairing shoes and broken electrical appliances. He urged young people to utilize their God-given talents to make a living:
"I never went to school or had any training for this; it’s a talent that God gave me. Jobs are so scarce these days. It’s better to figure out what you can do with your hands, especially if you are not educated."

Donald Duke, a former governor of Cross River state, on Tuesday, September 4, said he had dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and had pitched tents with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) under which he hopes to actualise his presidential aspiration.

Premium Times reports that Duke, who governed Cross River for eight years, was expected to contest for presidency on the platform of the PDP.

The report said Duke announced his decision to quit the PDP at the national secretariat of the SDP in the afternoon of Tuesday, September 4.

He was received by the national secretary of the SDP, Shehu Gabam, the publicity secretary, Alfa Mohammed, and other top party members.

Duke reportedly said he dumped the PDP after about 20 years because it had derailed and lost its values.
He said the PDP was not the same party he joined back then.
