Director J Opens Recording studio to cater for young talented musicians in Lagos

With the opening of J-World ntertainment Audio Visual Digital Studio, Nigerian musicians and upcoming artistes can now heave a sign of relief. The studio, according to the visioner is open to all musicians, music producers and singers, who want to record their music at a subsidized and affordable rates.

The multimillion Naira outfit, which is located in Lekki, Lagos is the brainchild of Joseph Oladugba the Executive Producer and Talent Manager.
Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, during the media tour of the facility, the Executive Producer said that the aim is to empower young talented musicians with good, helpful ideas and messages to the society via the instrumentality of music. He said that the music industry needs people like him to change the concept of many artistes who portray the industry in a negative manner.
“I think we can change the concept and redirect their orientation and let them know there is a better way of doing music without making it look as if music is entirely bad. In the music industry today what you hear is either love, shake your body and shake your head, I think we can address some of these things but if you are aloof how can you address them. You can’t supervise or teach people what you don’t know and that is why some of us are coming into entertainment to change the concept and I believe things will get better,” he noted.
The studio, which is full digital and full analog is capable of recording any type of music, be it Fuji, hip-pop, among others. The control room has musical instruments such as mixer, keyboard, drum sets, mini keyboard, electric guitar, monitors, base guitar, saxophone, sound card, master recorder, computer, as well as 32 input and 32 output.

Director J has opened its recording studio for free recording to support aspiring musicians in Nigeria industry music. The initiative which is called Open Studio Thursday will provide emerging artists the opportunity to record, mix, and master their music at no cost. At least 40 artistes are expected to benefit from the first phase of this initiative.

The Open Studio Thursday initiative is designed to support talented and passionate musicians helping them to eliminate the burden one of the prevalent challenges in their career: affording studio time. In a statement released by the company Chief Operating Officer, Joseph Oladugba, Open Studio Thursday it’s Director J way of encouraging talents and will also go a long way to support and enlighten them on the basic of music business operations and various means to expose their music to a much larger audience.

It is described as a rare opportunity for building talented artistes who could not afford the financial hurdle of affording studio time, Director J said “Artistes now have free studio time to record in an environment that encourages their creativity at no cost”. Open Studio Thursday will take place every Thursday starting from January, 2018 and artistes have to apply for it.

STUDIO MANAGER
We are in need of a Studio Manager to manage our recording studio Located in Lekki Lagos. He/she will also play an essential role in the marketing, creative, communications and digital departments. He/she will be responsible for leading a team, developing creative guidelines and directing creative work, including print collateral, websites, email campaigns, television and radio advertising, and many related tasks. He/she will often report directly to managing director, and will rely on extensive experience and professional judgment to plan and executive projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
It’s a dynamic job. One day you may be writing copy for the launch of a new website. The next, you can be standing beside the director’s chair at a casting call. Thus, you’ll need to be an expert in all facets of the creative process — and the creative industry — in order to produce the best work.
He/she also must be great leader with the ability to maximize the talents of their teams. Doing so means being a coach, a teacher, an instructor, and a critic all at once.
He/she will work with copywriters, graphic designers, web designers, account managers, brand managers and other marketers on a daily basis.
SKILLS
• An intimate understanding of design, copy and web best practices/guidelines
• Experience with a variety of software, including Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, etc.
• Excellent leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A strong understanding of brand development and multichannel marketing concepts
• Comfort interacting with clients and internal staff alike
• Strong persuasive skills
