16 is the answer. The first person will shake hand with 15 people. The second having shook hand with the first person will shake hand with 14. The third person having shook hand with 2 people will shake hand with 13. The fourth person will shake hand with 12. Fifth with 11, sixth with 10, 6th with 11, 7th with 10, 8th with 9, 9th with 8, 10th with 7, 11th with 6, 12th with 5, 13th with 4, 14th with 3, 15th with 2 and 16th person having shook hand with 15 people will shake hand with 1 person.
