Romance / Schoolgirl Who Claimed 10-year-old Boyfriend Was Responsible For Her Pregnancy by Joyjoe(f): 3:06pm On Aug 19, 2020
A schoolgirl who claimed a ten-year-old boy was the father of her unborn child has given birth to a baby girl.

Darya Sudnishnikova was 13 years old when she became famous in Russia after insisting that she was made pregnant by her 10-year-old boyfriend, Ivan.

Darya even went on prime-time TV earlier this year claiming Ivan was the father and Ivan backed up her story.

Darya later said she had been raped in her hometown Zheleznogorsk by a boy aged 16. She claimed she said Ivan was the father because she was too embarrassed to admit to the rape.

Ivan, now 11, chose to stand by her and he remains her "boyfriend".

Darya announced today on Instagram that she has welcomed a daughter after going through a “tough” delivery.

The girl had to travel to Krasnoyarsk in Siberia to find doctors who will accept her, she said last week.

She wrote on Instagram: "That's it, I gave birth to a girl at 10 am. It was tough, I'll tell you everything later, I'm having a rest now."

Police are still investigating the alleged rape case and are expected to take a DNA sample from the newborn girl to find out if the 16-year-old boy is the father.

Meanwhile, Ivan wants to remain in the life of Darya and her child. Not long before giving birth, Darya revealed that Ivan stays over at her house sometimes and may take over fatherhood of her child when he's 16.

She wrote: "He does not live with me, he stays overnight sometimes. At 16, he will take over the fatherhood, but it depends on how everything goes on between us."

Politics / COVID-19: Nigerian Govt Issues New Directives To Civil Servants Over Resumption by Joyjoe(f): 10:38am On Aug 11, 2020
NEWSCOVID-19: Nigerian govt issues new directives to civil servants over resumption of workPublished on August 11, 2020By Don Silas

The Federal Government has directed civil servants on Grade Levels 12 and 13, as well as those on important duties to resume full work.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, gave the directive in a circular on Monday in Abuja, NAN reports.

Presently, only workers on Grade Level 14 and above go to offices, and work for just 3 days a week, as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Yemi-Esan, in the circular, said, “Workers affected would resume work from Monday to Friday, and be in the office from 8 am to 4 pm as usual.”

The new development shadows a directive by the Presidential Taskforce (PTF) on COVID-19, asking workers to resume full working hours and days.

The PTF had, however, said that consideration must be given to the health implication of the number to recall for duties, in the light of the extant guidelines on the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Politics / Presidency Distances Buhari From Mamman Daura's Comment On Zoning(photo) by Joyjoe(f): 9:32pm On Aug 03, 2020
The Presidency on Saturday said the views expressed by Malam Mamman Daura, on zoning were personal to him and did not, in any way, reflect that of either the president or his administration.

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, stated this in a statement in Abuja.

He said that Mamman qualified as an elder statesman with a national duty to hold perspectives and disseminate them as guaranteed under the nation's constitution and laws of the land.

He added, "He does not need the permission or clearance of anyone to exercise this right."

The statement read in part, "We have received numerous requests for comments on the interview granted by Malam Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari's nephew to the BBC Hausa Service.

"It is important that we state from the onset that as mentioned by the interviewee, the views expressed were personal to him and did not, in any way, reflect that of either the President or his administration.

"At age 80, and having served as editor and managing director of one of this country's most influential newspapers, the New Nigerian, certainly, Malam Mamman qualifies as an elder statesman with a national duty to hold perspectives and disseminate them as guaranteed under our constitution and laws of the land.

"He did not need the permission or clearance of anyone to exercise this right.

"In an attempt to circulate the content of the interview to a wider audience, the English translation clearly did no justice to the interview, which was granted in Hausa, and as a result, the context was mixed up and new meanings were introduced and/or not properly articulated.

"The issues discussed during the interview, centred around themes on how the country could birth an appropriate process of political dialogue, leading to an evaluation, assessment and a democratic outcome that would serve the best interest of the average Nigerian irrespective of where they come from.

"These issues remain at the heart of our evolving and young democracy, and as a veteran journalist, scholar and statesman, Malam Mamman has seen enough to add his voice to those of many other participants."

Politics / Akpabio ‘calm Down’, I Took No Contract From NDDC by Joyjoe(f): 8:10pm On Aug 03, 2020
FORMER Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, has said he did not receive any contract from NDDC as alleged by Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Ibori, in a statement by his Media Assistant, Mr Tony Eluemunor, urged Akpabio to “calm down and focus on the task at hand.”.

Eluemunor stated: “On hearing the news of the alleged Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) contract awarded to him this morning, from the former Governor of Akwa-Ibom state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, as published in a newspaper and other online publications, he did not want to join in the ‘dancing in the market square’ going on in the NDDC right now.”

“He has decided to make this clarification for the records because friends and associates inundated him with phone calls this morning. So, he is stating categorically that he never solicited for, or was awarded, or indeed executed, any contract with NDDC or any government agency, at any time, for that matter.
