You need a letter from your school stating that you can still join your course.
Otherwise you risk being refused entry by U.K.B.A.
You might not even be allowed to board your flight.

Didn't need a letter and I was a month late.. uni is always in touch with ukba at this times you can get a letter for back up

I have you just need to inform the school your date of arrival and when you get to entry clearance officer you defend your reason why
