Okay. We have established that you have to sell
online to make money online. I ended the last thread
by saying that the questions you need to ask are…

You might ask

WHAT IS INFORMATION MARKETING?

Information marketing simply means selling information’s. But this time you are selling it at a
price. For example what you are reading right now is an information product.
Am selling A report at N3,000 and i hope to sell 100 copies in my first month. That would
be about N300,000. Excluding the money i am using for advert i would make at least
N280,000 profit selling this simple short report. And guess what?
It won’t take me more than 6hrs to complete this report. In fact right now i am writing this
report in an hotel in Lagos. I just decided to stay there and have a nice time on my own. So
while having a nice time, i am taking six hours to write something that would fetch me
nothing less than N270,000!
That is what this business it’s all about.

But why did i know that i would make N270,000 minimum from this report?
Well there are several reasons and one of them is because i know what to sell because i
only sell what people are desperately in need of.
I just don’t sell anything. It would be a complete waste of time to sit down and write
something for four hours and then put up a site on it, pay for adverts only to discover that
people are really not interested.

Let’s start with the first question. What should
you sell online? The answer is

It Depends

I’m sure some of you are waiting for me to say
sell product A or sell product B.

I’m not going to
do that… you need to ask yourself this
question…

What Do People Want To Buy?

Before you set out to do anything whatsoever
you have to decide that you are going to sell
only what people WANT to buy.

Target A Profitable Niche Market
A niche market is a group of people who share the same problems or interest and are willing to invest or spend money to satisfy their interest or solve their problems.
Take note that I did not say, target a niche market, but target a profitable niche market. What it means is that not all niche markets can make you money. So you need to do some research to find out a niche market that is profitable.
Now here are pointers that determine if a niche market will be profitable.
It must have a very high competition
It must fall within any of the following categories;

1. Money & Investments
2. Health & Fitness
3. Dating & Relationship
4. Information & Technology

It must not be a seasonal problem/market
It must have a high search volume on major search engines
It must be market viable; i.e. people must be willing to spend money.

You see my friend, there is a massive difference
between what people want to buy and what people
need to buy even though they sound similar.
Let’s assume you sell books and other information
materials like I do. Someone just supplied you
with 1,000 copies each of two titles.

1. How to pass JAMB
2. How to relocate to the USA

Now let me ask you. If you have a teenage son
you love so dearly, what will be your advice to
him at that stage of his life? I’m sure you will
advise him to pass JAMB and head to a University.

Good.

If you ask 100 teenagers to choose out of two
options: to go to a university or to travel to
the USA, which one do you think most of them will
opt for? Your answer is as good as mine. They NEED
to go to school but they WANT to travel abroad.
Which of the books will sell more?

They will Prefer to buy the book On how to relocate to USA.

Important Note: I’m not saying a book on passing
JAMB won’t sell. I used the analogy to make a
point. I need to say this ‘cos there are some
people that just love arguing. I no get dem time
at all.

Let me ask you. Which one will succeed faster out
of these…

A food canteen or a football viewing center?

A motivational magazine or a football magazine?

Bottled water company or a beer company?

Gosh! I once saw a hungry looking boy (about 13
years old) pay N50 to enter a viewing centre.
That boy NEEDED food. But he WANTED to watch
Chelsea.

Amazon is a very profitable business. They are the
biggest online booksellers. They did not stop at selling
books. You can buy gift items, electronics, CD's and
even groceries on Amazon. The money they make is
from the sales of the products on display on their
website.

2. Google.com

Google is the largest Internet search portal and they
are very profitable. What do they sell? When you
carry out a search on Google, you will notice that
most times, there will be two different sets of results.
The ones on the left hand side (known as the organic
search results) and the small ones colored blue on
the right.

Those ones on the right hand side are adverts placed
there by other website owners and they pay per click,
sometimes as high $1 per click. It is a huge money
maker for Google. They are selling targeted advertising
to other website owners and they get paid handsomely for
it.Google is worth billions of dollars. they make their money from Advertising.

3. Facebook.com

We all know facebook so no stories. Take a look at the
ads on the right hand side. The model works like Google.
Selling ad spaces on pay per click basis
Facebook is worth over 500million dollars,like Google they make their money from Advertising.

Here is the Gist?

If you want to make money online,
sell something online. Anyone making money online
is selling something online. If you don’t sell
online, you can’t make money online.
