We live with the consequences of our actions, good or bad till we grow old and die.

In economically turbulent times like these, it's very important that we understand divine favour and how to operate effectively in it.

📖 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
— Genesis 37:3

Israel had 12 sons and out of all of them he loved Joseph the most because Joseph was born to him in his old age. To distinguish Joseph from the rest of his children, Israel made him a multicoloured coat.

Joseph's older brothers envied him because of their father's special affection and they plotted against him.

We see something quite similar hundreds of years later at the river Jordan:

God was saying, "This is my most loved son, He pleases me extremely well."

To be favoured simply means to be preferred.

When you are favoured, you are preferred from many others. When you are favoured, you are distinguished from the majority.

Israel loved all his sons, but he had special love for Joseph which was why he made a unique coat for him.

Using Israel as an analogy, God loves all His sons and daughters, but He has special love for particular of His sons and daughters.

This special love brings about His preferential treatment.

After His baptism, God spoke out from heaven and preferentially endorsed Jesus, calling Jesus His beloved.

Never before in scripture had God spoken out compassionately from heaven approving an individual. On the mount of transfiguration, God again remarkably distinguished Jesus (Matthew 17:5)

When you are divinely favoured of God:

👉You are among His most loved.

👉God will distinguish you with special blessings and miracles. You will stand out from the crowd. (Luke 1:27-37)


The key to God's favour is pleasing Him well. God created everything for His pleasure; if you can please God well, you will be preferred by Him to most people.

📖 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
— Revelation 4:11

In times of scarcity and famines, divine favour distinguishes. (Job 5:19-22, Psalms 67:5-6 )

In times of conflicts and spiritual warfare, divine favour distinguishes. (Psalms 41:11, Exodus 14:14)

God is highly pleased through:

👉Praise/worship
👉Evangelism/soul winning
👉Sacrificial gifts to the gospel
👉Ever_increasing faith (through the word of God and fasting)

There was once an archangel that was specially loved/preferred by God and so distinguished from the rest of the angels. God created this archangel to lead praises to His throne with inbuilt musical instruments. (Ezekiel 28:12-15)

Even to this hour, God still derives great pleasure from and has a high preference for those who can praise Him. (Psalms 69:30-31)

I remembered several years ago when pastor Damina preached in our local church.

He was very interesting, vibrant and dynamic.

But years later, I really don't how to define this new version himself 🤷‍♂️

As for tithes, it's between you and God. No intermediary.

We waited anxiously for dangote refinery to produce petrol, it now does and lol and behold...anticlimax!!

Truth is 30k salary cannot sustain a marriage in present day Nigeria....

The value of the naira is on a downfall and to make more money one must think how to solve more problems/offer greater value.

I will need further clarification on this because I have stopped paying my tithes for about three years now. I also believe in tithing as an old testament law. Well, I may be wrong in some ways. Can anyone throw more light on this please. I am a born again Christian.

This topic is a very controversial and very divisive among the body of Christ.

But if the Word of God says, "bring all the tithes" then it means we should obey whether or not it makes sense or not.

But to avoid confusion, go on a long fast and seek the opinion of the Holy Spirit on this matter.

Two major temptations our top spiritual leaders face:

1. Sexual attraction with certain members of the congregation.

2. PRIDE

While it's not a sin and advantageous to own PJ as a means of transportation in propagating the gospel, it can lead to an unnecessarily inflated ego!
