Christianity EtcRe: See How Orderly People Sat At Pope Francis' Burial At St. Peter's Square (Photo) by jUeLiZ: 11:37pm On Apr 28, 2025
ValCon888:
Back in medieval times the pope was extremely powerful. In fact, he was the most powerful man in the world.

He exerted supremacy over kings through divine right and was a kingmaker and a king destroyer.

It was because of the pope's vast power that King Henry the Eight broke England away from thr Catholicism and started the Anglican church.

Current popes may not be as powerful as back in the day. But they still hold great influence which is what you see today.
I've been pondering over this for days now.... can you please share with why popes were or are so powerful.... like after I saw this burial rights and the burial on Saturday and the kind of people that attended...I began to respect the catholic church and to wonder why the popes could be so powerful...

OP you know what?….those of us born in the 60s also complained about how we missed when petrol sold below N1/litre, when we started buying at N87/litre.
I'm surprised...I didn't know petrol price was very cheap.... I'm not your generation, was talking based on what I have experienced.... things gets expensive every day...and no money to afford them.... it's very frustrating...

OP dey ment, why would you be missing buying petrol at 87 naira when we can actually go back to when it sold below 1 naira per liter

It's been on an upward trend for longer than that. IBB sold fuel for 75 kobo. In 1981, it was 15 kobo.
so why did we stop using Kobo sir .. .. I'm young and I'm enjoying these already.... seems like fairy tale to me... but I believe a lot has gone wrong.... along the line

Thanks for this information. Between 2016 to 2018 I was involved in a pipeline project between Calabar and Creek Town. So, my residence was in Calabar, and I frequently made trips between Uyo and Calabar. The road was still good at that time, and I must say one of the safest roads in Nigeria. You can pass the road at any time without any issues.
you're very correct sir...
PoliticsRe: I Miss The Good Old Days (photos) by jUeLiZ(op): 2:37pm On Mar 29, 2025
Jomonix:
Is the road still passable.

I heard the only route is through Oron and make the rest of the journey by boat.
it's still passable but was more like a death trap. And you can easily get stuck on the road, so some people prefer using water to through Oron to Uyo.

But the government has started working on the road since 3 or 4years ago and much has not really been done though...
