I don't want to sound cynical, but this Nigeria that you're in right now is a sinking ship, and there are no life boats -- and the mentality most of us have isn't going to help anyone. What mentality am I talking about? The one that says the government will one day come and help you. Listen, there's no superhero in this story that's going to come and save you. You are the only one that can save yourself. These guys don't even know you exist, yo u know how you look t ants, that's probably how they see you, if someone doesn't start making change that benefits you from day one, better start finding ways to help yourself . you cant keep telling the same hope story every year, yo make another new year resolution and and do the exact same thing you've done the pervious years, Whoever you put in that seat right now is not even my business .. i just want to pass a message, if it wakes something up in you good enough What I'm trying to tell you today is this: whatever you're doing, try to save yourself first. I won’t be the one to tell you that 12 years from now, we’ll still be having the same issues. I mean, check the analytics. The past predicts the future. Even if there will be a change in the future, the analytics should show a radical shift somewhere—maybe even just once. But it’s been the same pattern, and we keep hoping. -------------------------------------------- Here's what I can say to you now: If each one of you can do your best to sort yourself out first—you and your family—then the country will definitely be great. When each person is trying their best to improve their situation, instead of waiting for the government, that's when, together, things will improve everywhere. And how can we do that? Learn a skill if you don't have one. Find ways to make ends meet. Save yourself first, then save others around you. Impact your own community, even in the smallest way possible. Don't wait on anyone or the government. The hope we're sold is what’s holding us back because we think there's someone else whose job it is to come down like an angel and save everyone. It's drops of water that make an ocean; you don’t just form an ocean in one day. A lot of people will tell you to learn a skill, but I’ll tell you to learn a skill and put it into action. Don’t just learn a skill for learning’s sake—while you're learning it, think about how you can take action with it when you're done. In fact, take action as you learn it. Apply to jobs that need that skill. Greed and gatekeeping are other big problems. You know something, but you hold it back for yourself. You're not doing me —you’re doing yourself harm, when you hold ideas one way or the other it will still form a roadblock for you or someone you know, everything is connected, everything is a system. If everyone shares values and ideas, why won’t this country be good? Most people who do this tho are only doing it because others did it to them, so they follow suit, that's understandable, but its not going to help anyone. ---------------------------- For the techies: the bootcamps won’t give you jobs. They're there to give you the skills and collect your money. Do yourself a favor and start applying for jobs while you're in the bootcamp. You'll get your rejections, but at least you'll start getting them early enough, instead of waiting till you're done with the bootcamps and then realizing you're another fish out of water. ------------------ Don't wait for solutions create them -- doors wont open till you make effort to knock ------------------------------- if you are interested in gaining more clarity about this -- or any other thing, career, business or skills wise -- like you feel stuck or trapped and you need to get out -- feel free to book a call here -- its FREE https://adplist.org/mentors/justen-chuka ---------------------------------------------- I am Justin Chuka -- I build systems and solutions that solve real world problems -- https://www.linkedin.com/in/justinchuka/
