You can't have good fun(football is "sport"(entertainment)),with all the political and economic upheavals in this continent. 3. African football lovers should learn to distance themselves from the GOAT of football debate between Messi and Ronaldo... |

I feared to say that Nigeria today is a failed nation thriving on "RICE" palliative. Corruption have reduced us to dwarf status among African countries. To me, the way out is not in "manual election," this is because Nigeria is not yet mature to conduct elections for political offices. |

Business › Re: 21 Banks That Have Met The New CBN Capital Rules by Justme556(m): 2:48am On Jan 16 |
Is there any bank called 'Polaris' in Nigeria? Dpsychologist: CBN Recapitalisation Is Here. 21 Banks Have Passed. The Rest Are on the Clock.
If you still think Nigeria’s banking recapitalisation is a joke, this update should wake you up.
As of January 2026, 21 banks have successfully met the new capital requirements set by the Central Bank of Nigeria. No rumours. No projections. Actual money raised.
For context, CBN raised the minimum capital like this: International banks need ₦500 billion National banks need ₦200 billion Regional banks need ₦50 billion Non interest banks need between ₦10 billion and ₦20 billion
Deadline is March 31, 2026. Less than three months away.
This exercise started in 2024 and it is already reshaping the entire banking sector. Rights issues. Private placements. Mergers. Balance sheet surgery. Anyone sleeping will not survive.
Let us break it down clearly.
International Banks That Have Crossed ₦500bn
Access Bank Zenith Bank First HoldCo First Bank GTCO UBA Fidelity Bank
Access and Zenith did not just meet the requirement. They overshot it comfortably. That alone tells you who came prepared and who did not.
National Banks That Have Crossed ₦200bn
Wema Bank Citibank Nigeria Standard Chartered Nigeria Ecobank Nigeria Globus Bank Stanbic IBTC PremiumTrust Bank Providus Bank through merger with Unity Bank
PremiumTrust deserves special mention. Just three years old and already hitting ₦200bn. That is aggressive banking.
Merchant and Non Interest Banks Not Left Out
FSDH Merchant Bank Greenwich Merchant Bank Nova Bank Rand Merchant Bank
Jaiz Bank Lotus Bank TAJBank
Now here is the part many people are ignoring.
This recapitalisation is not about impressing CBN. It is about survival.
We saw this movie in 2004 under Soludo. Banks reduced from 89 to 25. Weak players disappeared. Strong ones became giants. History is repeating itself, just bigger and tougher.
What does this mean for everyday Nigerians?
Fewer but stronger banks Better shock resistance More capacity to fund big projects Less excuses during economic stress
But also Banks that fail to raise capital will be forced to merge or shut down Some familiar names may disappear Jobs will be affected Shareholders who did not pay attention will cry later
This is not politics. This is finance. Money talks. Capital decides who stays.
If your bank has not clearly announced how it plans to meet the requirement, start asking questions now, not in April.
CBN has drawn the line. 21 banks have crossed it. The rest are racing against time.
Nigeria’s banking sector is entering a new era. Stronger. Leaner. Less forgiving.
Sit tight. The next three months will be very interesting.

Education › Re: Admissions: Mathematics No Longer Compulsory For Arts Students, Says FG by Justme556(m): 11:06pm On Oct 14, 2025 |
cyberbro: You're a traditional thinker with a fixed mindset and this mentality of yours is really harmful. Kindly tell me the practicality of having an A1 in mathematics for arts disciplines... Please don't talk about the use of arithmetic in daily lives, every primary school leaver can handle basic arithmetic, but at university level, should those who have a D or E at math be prevented from moving forward with their study despite the fact that it has nothing to do with mathematics?
If they need real-life mathematical skills, anyone can get that outside the 4 walls of the university, but the O-level shouldn't be a prerequisite for a degree when the curriculum has nothing to do with mathematics. Another thing is the hypocrisy in our educational system cos a lot of people with flawless results actually used "runs" to achieve it, it is still going on today. Some people with a D in maths are better than some with an A in math, cos we know they arrange these things, unless we want to be hypocrites.
Once again, shed your traditional thinking- education doesn't end in the 4 walls of the university and anyone can learn virtually anything at any point of their lives. If anyone needs analytical skills, they don't need a credit in WAEC for that as you put it. It has only remained a prerequisite for admissions cos the older generation deemed it fit. All I see here is WISDOM. Kudos bro 👍 |
Romance › Re: A Man Doing Salary Job Should Be Considered A Red Flag. by Justme556(m): 9:40pm On Oct 12, 2025 |
immortalcrown: Your logic here is either childish or stupid, and I will prove it to you.
No occupation is better than the other in terms of finances. It all depends on the level at which you operate in any occupation or career you choose for yourself. If you choose to be an employee, try to grow so that you'll be promoted to the position where you begin to earn so much. You can also earn so well as a teacher by working in a school that has a good salary structure. If you choose business, try to grow in it so that you will make more profit.
How much money you make is not determined by what you do but by how you do what you do. A teacher that rises to the position of commissioner or minister earns more money than a trader that has been managing just one shop. A trader that is growing in his or her business makes more money than some people that work in banks. Some teachers make more money than some people that work in the military. It all depends on the level at which you operate in whichever career you choose.
Some musicians are richer than some footballers. Some footballers are richer than some musicians. Some traders are richer than some people that work in the Nigerian Custom or in the CBN. Many teachers are richer than some content creators. Some content creators are richer than many bank managers. Some pastors are richer than some native doctors. Some native doctors are richer than some pastors. Your head may be small, not bigger than a FIFA ball, but what you got inside is way bigger than a whale. Believe me, bro👍 |
